Well, this is a neat surprise, huh? A one part, standard episode? Well, I would call this a mini-sode. But this is made because of Season 5 premiering a few weeks ago and the episodes that followed suit. So I figured that my story should try and keep up with the show's events.

Even Headcanon/AU tales such as this have to stay in the flow of time, you know?

Also, the villain in this episode is a baddy pulled from the review suggestion box. With collective credit going to Matthew Crispin, Nick Name, and Lobby4ever. Though I did give him a bit of a different power set, as you'll see later. And I will explain why I made the change at the end of the chapter.

Episode 11: A passing torch

The Loud family was gathered in the living room together as Lincoln was setting up a laptop on the coffee table. However, there was a member of the family missing. That member was Lori, who had just recently left the house to attend college at Fairway University. Lola tapped her foot impatiently as she waited for Lincoln to finish the process. "Come on, Lincoln. How does it take this long to set up a video chat on a computer?" The young pageant queen complained.

"Be a little more patient sweetie. You have to remember that Lori has to set up the chat on her end, too." Rita scolded calmly. Lincoln stuck his tongue out of the corner of his mouth as he tapped away at the keyboard a little bit more.

"Alright, almost ready." He announced as the screen started to change and a window on the computer screen popped up showing Lori.

"Hello? Is this thing on?" Lori asked through the speakers. She looked into the camera and saw her family on her end of the call. "Oh, hey guys!"

"Hi, Lori!" Everyone greeted. Lynn Sr. cleared his throat and got his eldest daughter's attention. "So, sweetie. It's uh, been a few days since you went off to Fairway. How have things been?" He asked with a bittersweet voice.

"It's literally been going great. I had a bit of a problem with finding a good dorm. But eventually I got settled in and my classes have been going pretty well. And speaking of dorms, check it out!" Lori then stepped out of the camera's view and showed the room she was in to her parents and siblings. It was a simple room with yellow wall paper, a brown bed and dresser, and red carpeting. Beside the bed was a nightstand, which Lori had placed pictures of friends and family on top of it. The Loud family let out a series of statements expressing their amazement.

"Sweet digs!"

"Nice."

"Looks pretty cozy."

"Yeah, it took me a while to find one that was just right." Lori confirmed as she remembered how extreme some of the dorms were with their theming. "The water hazard floor had an alligator there. I thought I could deal with it, but it was literally too crazy." She recalled. Lynn then started to yawn and stretch her arms out, rudely taking control of the conversation.

"On the subject of crazy, anything extreme going on down there? Like, SUPER crazy?" Lynn asked. Lori raised an eyebrow over the young jock's question.

"What are you talking about?" Lori asked. Everyone gave an unenthused expression that caused Lori to realize what they were talking about. "Oh, you mean like that kind of crazy." Lori then looked around herself, making sure she was out of earshot. She then raised a hand up to her mouth to partially block the sound. "There was one incident involving some wannabe super villain that wanted to try and kidnap the dean for a ransom. But I took care of it." Lori reassured them. Upon this revelation, Lynn Sr. suddenly broke down in tears.

"My little baby is off on her own in college. AND she's stopping crime all by herself too! I'm just so proud… I need a minute!" The patriarch sobbed as he then ran off to another part of the house. A moment of awkward silence took command of the video chat for a good ten seconds before Lori spoke up again.

"So, you guys said you had something important to tell me?" She asked trying to reengage the conversation. Lisa then gave a proud smile and walked out of the camera's view. Only to reappear a few seconds later with a chalkboard showcasing complex scientific formulas and a sketch of some kind of device.

"Two things actually, eldest sibling." Lisa then took out a wooden pointing tool and tapped on the board. "Though we have no qualms with handling things on our own here in Royal Woods, I have been designing a teleporter that could bring you back to Royal Woods in the event of an emergency. It should be ready in a few weeks." Lisa explained. Lori was about to thank Lisa for her efforts, but was interrupted by Lana.

"Wait, a teleporter? You couldn't have told me that before I put the nitro boosters on Lori's new car?"

"THE WHAT!?" Rita and Lori jinxed in absolute shock. Lana instantly regretted her decision to speak up and slinked back into her seat on the couch.

"Uh, I mean, guess what the other thing is?" Lana asked sheepishly in an attempt too divert their attention, but her mother was not having it.

"Oh, nice try young lady. But you can't just tamper with your older sister's car without anyone knowing. Let alone with something like…"

"Lily saved the day!" Lily interrupted as she jumped up on the table and directly in front of the laptop. She struck a heroic pose in her new white t-shirt and lavender shorts. Lori looked mildly surprised at her youngest sister's celebration, all while the rest of her family was looking at the toddler with neutral expressions.

"Lily, when you say 'save the day', what do you mean exactly?" Lori asked. Luan then let out a sheepish chuckle.

"Yeah, I might have had something to do with that." She confessed. "See, it was a few days after school started and you left for college. Lily wanted to go to the park, and I was the only one around." The young comedian began to explain.

"Eh. Eh. Luan, Lily want to go higher!" Lily cried out as her older sister pushed her on a toddler sized swing. Luan smiled and kept giving the pre-schooler more pushes.

"Don't worry, Lily. I just need to get into the swing of this." The brunette's quip earned herself some giggling from Lily.

"Hee hee. Funny!"

"Ha ha, good to see I prepared your sense of humor for school. Get it?" Luan asked in an attempt to try and get lily to laugh again. She stopped pushing for a moment to get a good look at Lily's face. Unfortunately, the baby's amusement was gone completely. She looked up at Luan and merely shook her head.

"Nah funny."

"Ah, you'll grow into it." Luan countered. The sisters were then pulled out of their fun by the sounds of panicked screaming. A couple of civilians ran past them in fear. "What the heck?" As Luan looked at the people running past them, Lily saw something else in the direction the group came from. Lily then shouted and leaped out of the swing seat, pushing Luan to the ground just as a dark brown object tied to a silver rope flung by and bent the steel poles of the swing set. "Woah." Luan gasped upon seeing the damaged equipment.

The brunette turned to see a man in a brown shirt, a black mask that only covered one of his eyes, messy brown hair, and gray sweatpants. His hands were covered by red boxing gloves as they held on to the rope weapon that nearly struck Luan in the head. "Alright, who wants some? I have plenty for everyone!" He shouted like a mad-man. Luan scooped Lily into her arms and began to run away from the crazy villain. Eventually, she found a set of public rest rooms and ran inside for cover. As Luan closed the door behind her, she then checked around the bathroom for anyone else.

"Okay, all clear." Luan then activated her hero watch and in a quick burst of light, turned into Doppelganger. Lily clapped excitedly at the sight of her sister's transformation.

"Yay!" Lily then stopped and reached into the pocket of her shorts, pulling out her own watch. "Lily help too!" She was about to push the button, but was stopped as Doppelganger grabbed Lily's hand with their fingers.

"Hold on there! You remember how Mom and Dad don't want you fighting unless it's absolutely necessary." She then made a clone of herself and handed Lily to the copy.

"And it's just one guy that's trying to rope in some trouble. Nothing that is worth the risk of you getting hurt." The clone stated. Lily tried to squirm free from her sister's arms.

"But Lily wants to help!" The older heroine pat her baby sister on the head and made another clone.

"Sorry, but you have to stay here with me. Myself and I will take care of this bozo!" The clones then ran out of the bathroom and searched around until they found the assailant, still in the middle of his rampage. "Hey, you have something against playgrounds?"

"Because you earned a special trip to the one at the prison!" The Doppelgangers quipped, getting the villain's attention. "We doing this the easy way?" Doppelganger made another copy, bringing the total to three.

"Or the hard way?" The new clone asked menacingly. The man looked at the clones and began to chuckle.

"Finally, some entertainment. A game is fun to win, but no other players just makes it too boring." With that remark, he flailed his weapon towards Doppelganger and her clones. The teens managed to get out of the glove's way through ducking and leaping out of its path. Two of the clones ganged up on him from the sides and both delivered punches to his cheeks. He groaned and performed a sweep kick to the two clones, knocking them to the ground. The resulting spin also caused the rope to snag onto the third Doppelganger and clothesline her. She then made another four clones and then pulled on the rope with them to send their attacker tumbling towards them. "Oof, that's not very fair."

"'Not fair'? Is this really a game to you?"

"Because we don't feel like playing." Two of the clones asked in a very agitated manner. The man looked at his attackers and shot a sinister grin.

"Well too bad for you. Because games aren't that fun to play by yourself." He remarked before leaping up and punching one of the Doppelgangers with an uppercut. "And when Sandbag wants someone to play the game, they play the game!" The other clones leaped forward to rush him. Seeing some success in catching him off guard, they all unleashed a barrage of punches and kicks onto Sandbag, pushing him backward towards a tree as they did. The clone he had knocked down groaned and started to get back up.

As she stumbled and regained her balance, she watched her clones fight their opponent. "'Sandbag?' Why would he name himself that? He doesn't even have sand powers." She wondered out loud to herself. Sandbag let out an angry roar as he let out one big burst around him that knocked the clones away from him. Doppelganger was stunned at what happened as she saw him lash out at the clones with his weapon, beating them all up with the boxing glove striking them in their faces and torsos. His face was covered in bruises and a tooth seemed to be missing from his mouth as well.

"Is that all you got?" He mocked. Doppelganger narrowed her eyes and created a few more clones. Then, she let out a battle cry and rushed towards Sandbag with her clones. They soon engaged in close quarters combat, punching and kicking away at each other. However, every time Doppelganger or her clones hit Sandbag, he suddenly became stronger and hit them with an even stronger attack. As the furious exchange kept going, Doppelganger's breathing began to get heavier. Her vision was blurring and clouding up with a black haze. "Go down already!" Sandbag delivered one more powerful punch that knocked Doppelganger to the ground. The clones then gave in to fatigue and collapsed. All the copies began to vibrate before all melding together into a single person.

"Ugh… So tired. Can't even… Sand up." Doppelganger weakly chuckled before groaning as Sandbag stood over them.

"Nothing like a good win, am I right?" Sandbag asked menacingly as he stood over the defeated hero. "I always got beat when I tried anything. Board games, boxing, game shows. You name it, I've lost it. But with powers like mine, I'll never lose again!" He laughed while winding his foot back to kick her in the face one more time. But as he released to attack, his foot was stopped inches from Doppelganger's face by some unknown force. Looking down, he saw a purplish force field blocking his foot. "What?"

"Leave sisser awone!" Both Sandbag and Doppelganger turned to look in the direction of a new voice. There, they saw a baby with a tuft of platinum blonde hair in a lavender one-piece super suit. On the front of the suit was a white shield-like shape with a lavender colored flower symbol inside of it. Doppelganger was in an utter state of shock at the sight of then.

"Li-Nursery!? What are you doing here?" She asked in disbelief. Her question was answered as the clone she originally left to watch the infant stumbled from behind the infant.

"Sorry… She slipped past me." They weakly said. Sandbag on the other hand, looked absolutely dumbfounded.

"A baby? I'm going on a rampage and turning this stupid park into my personal boxing ring. And your final line of defense is a baby?" He asked in disbelief. Nursery narrowed her eyes and clenched her fists, trying to look intimidating. Unfortunately, Sandbag rolled his eyes, obviously unamused. "Fine, kid. I'll play with you a little bit once I'm done with this one." He groaned while gesturing towards Doppelganger. The villain turned towards the downed heroine and wound up another punch in an attempt to hit her again. As he swung down, he once again felt a force field block his punch. He tried swinging a few more times, but the barrier persisted and absorbed every single strike.

Sandbag growled in anger and turned towards Nursery. "Okay, fine! You just got yourself a time out, little brat!" The villain angrily began approaching the baby, reaching his hands out to grab her. "Come here!" Sandbag lunged out and tried to grab them. However, Nursery raised her hands up and another barrier stopped Sandbag dead in his tracks. The barrier began to circle around him and in a few short seconds, Sandbag was completely trapped. In an act of frustration, he banged away at the walls of the field and attempted to break it. However, the barrier persisted against all of his attacks. "Let me out of this thing, twerp!"

Nursery looked at the captive assailant and smiled. She kept one hand raised up to maintain the barrier while walking towards one of the Doppelganger clones. Sandbag felt his anger rise as Nursery seemed to ignore him. "Hey! I'm talking here! We were in the middle of a fight! I know you can hear me!" Nursery then used her powers to heal Doppelganger and recover their stamina. The teen groaned and slowly began to pick herself up as her little sister's powers mended her body. "Oh, you little sneak. You're healing your big sister to fight me some more, is that it?" Sandbag complained in annoyance. Though, he was still being ignored as Nursery paid him no mind and focused on helping her sister.

As she healed one Doppelganger, the clone also started to recover their stamina and get back up. The clone limped over to Nursery, the collective strength not fully returning right away. As the clone picked up Nursery, Sandbag laughed a little. "Well look at you. I bet you're real proud of having a baby come to save you. Now, how about a round 2 without the little brat?" He taunted. The Doppelgangers looked at him and looked as if they were pondering it.

"Hmm… Nah."

"Yeah, we're good." They responded nonchalantly. Sandbag looked at the heroes with a display of pure shock.

"What!?"

"You just beat me up in a brutal display of violence. You are the one who earned a time out." One of the Doppelganger clones countered.

"But, you can't just leave me in this thing. It's not fair!" He shouted like he was an angry toddler. Nursery looked up at the villain and smiled. She then started to giggle and clap in delight over her victory.

Back in the present, Lily was happily laughing over hearing the story's ending and reliving the events. "Lily saved the day!" She cheered and jumped up and down excitedly. She eventually found herself leaping onto Luan's lap and clapping. The young comedian laughed alongside her in delight.

"Yeah. Lily made dealing with Sandbag look like child's play." As Luan laughed even harder at her joke, everyone else, including Lily herself, groaned. On the video chat screen, Lori let out a sigh.

"Well, I'm glad that you guys are doing fine. And Lily, I'm proud of you." The eldest sibling admitted with a smile. Lily laughed and bounced up and down even more. Rita gave a warm smile and took the baby into her arms.

"I think we all are. Even if I would I have preferred if Luan had called someone else for help." The matriarch sheepishly confessed. The family felt their attention yanked from them as they heard Lynn Sr. cry out from the background.

"MY BABIES ARE ALL GROWING UP SO FAST!" Lori chuckled a little bit in response to her father's wailing.

"Well, seems things are literally just as crazy as when I left." Lori stated as she crossed her arms. Luna leaned in front of the camera.

"Well that's still not as crazy as those anti-cherry spies that tried moving in a few days ago." Luna remarked. The conversation came to a screeching halt and no one uttered another word after Luna's little blurb. After a good five seconds of silence, Lori raised a single finger up and took a deep inhale. She then let out a calm breath and looked dead center into her computer's camera.

"Excuse me?" She asked calmly, yet very visibly confused. Lincoln looked amongst his family and laughed.

"Okay, you aren't going to believe this. So, me and Clyde were playing secret agents…" Lincoln began as he recalled the escapade that ensued a few days prior.

Yep, Nursery got her chance to shine on the battlefield after so long! Also, Family Bonding... Man, that episode threw me for a loop!

Now, about Sandbag. If any of you three are reading this, I didn't give Sandbag the powers you suggested originally because I felt it was a little too similar to Lori/Titanium, as well as Shonen with his power increasing through anger. So instead, I gave him what I can describe as infinite stamina and endurance. He can't tire out or fall unconscious from attacks no matter what. I hope you still enjoyed him regardless.

I suppose that will do it for now. I'm off to do other things and write for other stories. Adios! :)
