Chapter Forty-Four: Ultimate Harmony

Phantom could not keep his eyes off of his brother. There he was, standing there with Aqualad and Nightwing. His wings were hidden under his cloak, but there was no hiding that he was still hurt. The way Aqualad had to support him to keep him on his own two feet definitely told that. But there was also the fire in his eyes that was like when a parent was seriously pissed off.

"White," Danny flew down in his ecto-skeleton. "What are you doing here! You need to get back to headquarters to heal properly."

"Someone has to stop you from being stupid," White glared at his brother. "I told you rebuilding that suit was a terrible idea."

Even with all the seriousness going on, Aqualad and Nightwing could not help but look at the scene in front of them with slight amusement. Siren had always been the one that was comically smug when he was right, especially when he was proven right over his brother. And it was definitely a funny scene to watch Siren scold his twin like he was a child that stayed out past curfew.

"White..." Danny tried.

"Get out of that suit right now, before I blow it up with you still inside of it," White threatened.

That fact that he was injured and still making threats spoke volumes of how strong the siren prince really was. Krinos, Lena, and Melinda had to stop themselves from laughing so they could continue fighting Shendu while the brothers worked out their issues.

"White..." Danny tried again.

"Out. Now," White ordered.

The dome part of the ecto-skeleton over Phantom's head opened up. The ghost prince floated out of it and landed in front of his very angry twin.

Once his brother was out of the dangerous suit, Siren started staring at it. His eyes glowed gold as he glared at the mechanical skeleton. The ecto-skeleton began to shake. Golden cracks started to spider all around it. And as quickly as it started, the mechanical suit exploded in a golden flash. Siren's eyes went back to normal.

"Let it now be known that if he wanted to, Siren could definitely cause an earthquake," Dick said over the link.

He could almost feel the shivers down the spines of his teammates when he said that.

"Much better," White said, crossing his arms and turning back to his brother.

"White, I was only using it because it was needed to defeat Shendu," Danny tells his brother.

"That does not mean you risk your life by using that horrible suit," White continued to glare at him. "I was overjoyed when that thing was destroyed the first time for a reason. Why you rebuilt it after that was beyond stupid then and it is beyond stupid now."

"Shendu is too powerful for me without the suit," Danny says.

"You have over half a dozen mystics fighting with you," White crossed his arms. "I get that you are angry, but next time you risk your life just because you are pissed off, I will find you and slap some sense into you. Even if that means coming back from the dead and don't you think I won't find a way to do that."

Phantom looked like he was in a three-way tie between happy to see his brother getting better, terrified for his health, and shame because of the scolding. Jazz may be the oldest member of the sibling trio, but that does not mean that Siren did not have his own moments of being the sibling parent to the other two. You could not be the prince of sirens, responsible for guiding new sirens into their new way of life, and not have gotten some parenting skills. Phantom certainly got them for obvious reasons, aka Danielle Phantom.

"I'm sorry, White," Danny rubbed the back of his neck. "I thought that I had no choice but to use it."

"There is always a better way," White says. "Ones that do not risk your life. Trust me when I say that if you had died because of that suit, I would have found a way to bring you back just to kill you myself."

Aqualad and Nightwing were sure that even with them being brothers, Siren would kill him if Phantom pissed him off enough. Meanwhile, the other mystics continued fighting Shendu with the others still going against the agents on the streets below.

"Tiwat Ligara," Melinda cast.

She threw out her hand, sending a giant twister out. It swept up dozens of agents and zombies while also distracting Shendu from the attacks of the other mystics. There was a really good reason why Melinda was the one that inspired "The Wizard of Oz" with how often she uses twister and cyclone spells.

Krinos's eyes glowed. He held his hands out.

"Nature's enchantment," Krinos cast. "Dandelion quartet."

The leaves and petals all seemed to become streams, like airborne curvy lanes of a highway. Roots and vines also grew. They all collected into four areas. And right before their eyes, four botanical animals were created. They were all lions. Their bodies were made from wood with sharp claws on their front and rear paws. On top of each leg, and at the tip of their tails, were sharp ended yellow wood swirls. They also had lines of bright and dark green leaves running down their backs. Their names were all made from giant blood-red petals, like a blood rose that's just bloomed.

"The D4, now they are the ones that I have been looking forward to seeing," Lena smirked.

"Mind giving then a hand, Lena," Krinos requested.

"I've always wanted to do this," Lena grinned.

She raised her hands. Four giant vines sprouted from the ground. They each grabbed one of the floral lions. Lifting each of them into the air, Lena waved her hands and caused the vines to throw the lions right at Shendu's face. Shendu roared as the lions landed on his face.

"Get these pests off of me," the dragon roared, shooting fire randomly into the sky as he tried to get the enchanted plants off of him.

"Hey, the D4 are not pests," Krinos yelled. "I'd like you to create living beings with your magic and allow someone else to call them pests."

He called two giant trees on either side of him. Matching the glow of his eyes, the leaves on both trees also glowed. Pushing his hands out, the trees launched their leaves as two giant leaf storms. Lena lent him her voice by using her own siren scream to aid his storms. Siren's was a golden sonic scream, but Lena's was like a storm of green wind, flower petals, and leaves mixed with sound waves.

The enchanted lions jumped off of Shendu's face just as the floral attacks hit the dragon. He roared as they pushed him back.

"Dude, you really need to chill," Alain says.

Alain touched his hand to the ground. Ice spread from where he touched. The ice spread all around Shendu's feet. And since the dragon was being attacked by the nature storms, he easily slipped once he tried to take a step back. A few buildings may have been crushed when he fell, but tell that to the mystics, ghosts, and heroes that did not care about the town they were in one bit,

"It's going down, I'm yelling timber," Solace could not help but taunt in a sing-song voice.

"Seriously," Caitlin raised an eyebrow, the were-cat looking up at the siren of the sun.

"What," Solace shrugged. "I'm a siren, music is literally in my blood. Besides, someone was going to make that pun. I was just the first to do it."

As the demon sorcerer stood back up, the mystics continued to fire at him. Solace and Nyx with their beams of sunlight and moonlight, Melinda with her spells, Orion getting close with his mace, Lena and Krinos with their nature attacks, Caitlin's light magic, Alain's ice powers, not to mention the constant lashings from the D4.

"ENOUGH," Shendu roared.

He waved his claw threw the air, causing fire to be launched along with an explosive force. All of the mystics were thrown back, crashing in various places. Lena, Solace, and Alain were sent crashing onto a few roofs. Nyx and Orion were thrown through a couple of windows. Caitlin, Melinda, and Krinos were thrown back onto the streets.

"Oh, crap," Lena of all people was the one that swore.

"It's time you pathetic mystics learned your place," Shendu growled. "Burned to a crisp below by claws."

"Oh, know what," White was so done at this point. "I am completely done with this guy. He needs to be taken care of now before he kills someone."

He got out of Aqualad's grip.

"White, you're not strong enough," Kaldur tried to stop the siren. "You're still injured."

"My wings may be useless now, but that it's not the main part of a siren's magic," White ignored the pain in his back. "There is one power of a siren that has not been used for centuries. Perfect Harmony."

Siren stood at the edge of the roof that they were on. His eyes glowed always no with his hands. Golden music notes danced along his fingers as they moved almost like they were playing piano keys. Music filled the air, even being heard among all those still fighting around the town. It was a soft melody that grew around them. And if there is one thing that almost everyone knew about Siren, it was that he had one hell of a voice.

Siren faced the demon sorcerer of fire and opened his mouth. Shendu was not going to know what will hit him.

"Here comes a wave meant to wash me away
A tide that is taking me under
Swallowing sand, left with nothing to say
My voice drowned out in the thunder."

This was different from other times that Siren had sung before. There had always been a slight magic in his voice, which was only natural because of who and what he was. But this time, there was more than magic in the melody. There was power and a lot of it. Even Shendu could feel it and it seemed that he knew what it meant. He looked right at Siren and was ready to breathe another breath of fire at the prince. But the other mystics recovered and started to keep him busy in order to give Siren time to fully use his power.

"But I won't cry
And I won't start to crumble
Whenever they try
To shut me or cut me down."

"I won't be silenced
You can't keep me quiet
Won't tremble when you try it
All I know is I won't go speechless
'Cause I'll breathe
When they try to suffocate me
Don't you underestimate me
'Cause I know that I won't go speechless."

Sirens around the battlefield felt power filling them. Their eyes all glowed with their new power filling their hearts. They knew what it meant and they added their enchanting voices to the song. Like when an a-cappella group sings. They made the song with their magical voices, making it even stronger. Lena, Solace, and Nyx flew away from the dragon to add their voices to the magic as well.

The power of sirens singing together was an ancient art that had long been abandoned. It was too powerful that even Obsidian Siren never even dared to attempt it. Perfect Harmony was a special and ancient gift that only sirens could use. The way that it worked was a single siren had to channel all of their power into a single song. It needed to be blended with a great number of other sirens in order to get the harmony hat was needed. It was to combine all their voices to accomplish a single magical feat but also had side effects that varied based on intent and how connected the first singer was to the other sirens.

To finally get rid of Shendu, who knows what else could happen.

"Written in stone
Every rule, every word
Centuries old and unbending
"Stay in your place"
"Better seen and not heard"
But now that story is ending."

"Cause I
I cannot start to crumble
So come on and try
Try to shut me and cut me down."

"I won't be silenced
You can't keep me quiet
Won't tremble when you try it
All I know is I won't go speechless, speechless
Let the storm in
I cannot be broken
No, I won't live unspoken
'Cause I know that I won't go speechless."

Siren's eyes glowed even brighter. He walked off the roof of the building, golden platforms of music forming under his feet with every step he took. As he sang, golden music measures started to come from a golden aura that had formed around the siren prince. They went right at the demon sorcerer.

Shendu tried to attack him, but Perfect Harmony had gotten too strong and the aura acted as a shield. The flames could not touch Siren. It also did not help that the other mystics were also preventing him from doing a full-powered fire breath from how much they were interfering. The music measures started to surround him as the music almost seemed to be causing him pain.

Unknown to the siren, his back was glowing underneath the cloak he was wearing to retract his damaged wings.

"Try to lock me in this cage
I won't just lay me down and die
I will take these broken wings
And watch me burn across the sky
Hear the echo saying."

Light erupted from Siren's back. Everyone stared as a brand new pair of wings sprouted from his back. Siren flew up just out of instincts, not seeming to even register that he could fly once again. The lyrics were very poetic given what had happened to his wings in the first place.

As Siren flew up, the other sirens from around the battlefield joined him, floating behind him. The aura got brighter as more music measures surrounded the demon sorcerer. A sphere of golden magic energy formed around the demon, not breaking no matter how much he banged on it with his fists, scratched with his claws, or attempted to burn with his fire.

"I won't be silenced
Though you wanna see me tremble when you try it
All I know is I won't go speechless, speechless
'Cause I'll breathe
When they try to suffocate me
Don't you underestimate me
'Cause I know that I won't go speechless."

"All I know is I won't go speechless, speechless."

The eyes of all the sirens glowed as they raised their hands in unison. Each of them gained a shining music note in front of their hands, matching the color of their eyes.

"Perfect Harmony," they all yelled.

The music notes flew from the sirens and to the demon sorcerer. The music notes shot around Shendu, further sealing him into the sphere of gold.

"NOOOOOOOO," Shendu roared.

There was a giant flash of light with an explosion of energy. The wind that was also a result of the explosion blew back everyone. Krinos, Melinda, and Orion were forced to hold onto one of Krinos's trees for dear life. Alain had to cover Caitlin and himself with an ice dome to keep them from being blown away. The sirens were all thrown from the sky.

Other mystics and the heroes all shot into the sky in order to keep the weakened magical beings from being hurt any further. Aqualad and Superboy caught Siren, Blue Beetle caught Lena, Orion caught Solace, and Miss. Martian caught Nyx.

Once they were all safe on the ground once again, they all looked to see what had happened to Shendu. They all gasped when they saw that there was nothing left where the dragon once was. There was some smoke still floating into the air, but that was it.

"Wow," Impulse gasped.

"They actually vanquished him," Melinda was shocked.

"You're welcome," Lena smirked, the sirens trying to stand back up.

"M...My wings," White gasped, finally noticing his new wings. "Their back."

Phantom gave his brother a big hug as he nearly cried in joy from being able to fly again.

"That was one hell of a power, White," Conner patted the siren's back.

"It was hard to do, regardless of how it might have looked, but we will probably not be doing that again anytime soon," White says.

"Amen to that," Solace looked just as tired as the rest of the sirens.

"At least we no longer have to worry about Shendu," Nyx says. "Let's just pray that the rest of the demon sorcerers stay locked away in the deepest parts of the Underworld."

They all looked down, seeing the remaining Guys In White agents looking more terrified than ever. It seemed that not only had the sirens vanquished Shendu, but their power had the side effect of also vanquishing the remaining demon zombies as well. The agents all started to back away from the mystics, realizing that they were now definitely in over their heads when it came to dealing with them.

"Looks like we might be done here," Dick says.

But Phantom's ghost sense, as well as Siren's siren sense, went off. And the shivers down their spines told them who had finally decided to make an appearance.

"Oh gods," White swore.

Everyone started to look up as the new figure made himself known.

Dark Dan is taller and much more bulky and muscular than his younger self. He has snow-white flaming hair with a ponytail, light turquoise skin, and red eyes with dark lines around them. He has pointed ears, fangs, and a goatee. He wears a black jumpsuit with gray trim, a white belt, black gloves, white boots, and his logo on his chest, which is unchanged. He wears a cape which is white on the outside and black on the inside.

"Dan," Danny and White gasped.
