Erin was now 14 weeks pregnant, as she did every morning she went into their bathroom lifted up her shirt and looked for a baby bump and this morning there was one. A very small one, if anyone looked and didn't know they would have just thought she was bloated but it was definitely her baby.
"Jay!" She shouted out hoping he would here her.
She heard footsteps running on the floor boards, then Jay came to a halting stop, "You okay?"
"Look." Erin said turning to him with her shirt raised.
He stepped forward and placed his hand on her now showing stomach, "Wow. He's really in there huh."
"He sure is."
They then noticed Lily standing in the doorway, Jay picked her up and pointed to Erin's stomach, "Look Lil bear, baby."
"Mummy's having a baby!" She started clapping.
"She sure is!" Jay said excitedly as he put Lily back on the ground.
"So I got a facebook invite the other night for my high school reunion."
Erin raised an eyebrow, "Yeah okay. You want to go? Show them how sexy and accomplished you are?"
Jay lifted Erin up on the bathroom counter, "Show you off maybe."
"Detective we seem to keep meeting in this spot, is it becoming a habit?" Erin said seductively.
"Let's just say having to hide and be sneaky turns me on a little." Jay said tracing his hands up her thighs.
"Well I apologise but I have to get your daughter ready. Also about your reunion if you wanna go we'll go. Might be nice to have a night out, but you'd probably have to be on call because Ruzeks still off until Monday."
Jay flicked his head back annoyed then helped her off the counter with one arm, "The reunion isn't until next Saturday so I should be fine. Maybe get Will to babysit if he has the night off?"
"Sounds like a plan. Atleast we might actually get to yours."
Jay chuckled, "Your reunion was actually the night I told myself, 'Yep your done dating. You have feelings for this girl and they aren't going away.'"
"Aw. Here I just thought you wanted to get into my pants."
Jays mouth dropped, "Hey! You always thought I was an dog didn't you."
Erin pulled him in close, "I just love how defensive you get."
"Mmhmm. Sure."
"While I'm doing the devils hair you should probably take Zeus for a run, think you both need it." Erin joked looking her husband up and down.
Jay stood back pulling his shirt up, showing his very toned muscular body as he pointed towards himself, "Excuse me? Look at me."
"Again I love getting you worked up."
Jay kissed her, "I could never get a dad bod, you know that."
"I wouldn't be against it, Atleast maybe then all the new patrolman in the district wouldn't drool over you."
"You love it."
Erin frowned, "And why would I love that?"
"Because you love the fact that they flirt and flirt but then your the one that gets to go home with me. Also you love being about to rub it in their faces that I'm married to you."
"Yeah okay your right." She smiled.
"Thought so, now go on stop distracting me." Jay said slapping her ass as he walked off.
Erin scoffed, "Excuse me, your the one that just tried having S.E.X on the bathroom counter!" She yelled, hearing him laugh as he walked off.
Next Saturday came around quickly, Jay was a little nervous but definitely excited to show off his woman. He was dressed up in his suit all ready to go when Erin came running out, "I don't know what to wear, can you help me?"
"I thought you picked an outfit?" Jay said confused, he thought she'd picked several considering the big dint in his most recent pay check.
"Well yes I did and now I don't know which one, some looked better the other day and now some just look bluh." She said making a face.
Jay had to tread carefully, with a growing bump she had some good days but also some very bad days about how she looked.
"Okay I'm coming." He said following behind her.
He sat down on the chair in the corner of the room waiting for Erin to put on her first outfit, she came out and looked stunning, "How about this?"
She smiled and started turning around and checking herself out in the mirror, "Gorgeous. Absolutely stunning, job done!" Jay said sticking two thumbs up in the air with a smile.
She shook her head and faced the mirror, "No take it seriously. I don't know. No, I hate it."
Jay nodded, "Yeah?"
"It's boring and makes me look kind of lumpy." She said screwing her nose up.
Jay kept nodding, "No, you're right. It is boring and lumpy. I hate it."
She turned and walked off, couple minutes later and she was back out in another dress, "Okay. What about this?"
Jay had a big smirk on his face, this one was definitely more showy and he defiantly wasn't disappointed, "Gorgeous. We did it."
Erin turned to the mirror and gasped, "No, it's too booby."
"Is it? Okay." Jay nodded as she again walked off.
She walked out again, this dress was a little more respectable, "It's not too booby." He shrugged. Slightly disappointed.
"No. I'm not wearing these heels. I look like a prostitute." Erin said peering down at her feet.
"Not high heels, then?"
"But then we have the short legs problem."
"Well, do you want to look like a prostitute or a dwarf?" Jay joked.
She held up her finger and walked off, "Warning. That's a warning."
She walked out in yet another dress, and Jay honestly couldn't care if she went in a potato sack at this stage, "Yes!"
Erin quickly glanced in the mirror and spun around, "No."
"No!" Jay said when she came out in the next dress, it was cut very low, too low. He wasn't a fan, not that she didn't look good but he didn't want all the other men in the room staring.
"Now that I like." Jay said seductively when she walked out in a little black dress that looked somewhat like a nightie.
"No, I'm just picking up the dress that this goes under. Such a bad boy detective." Erin shook her head laughing.
"This one?"
"Not bad." Jay shrugged, looking at his watch. They'd been at this for more then half an hour.
"Or this one?" She appeared again in a dress that looked very similar to the last one.
"It's a trick question, isn't it? Same dress."
"No!"
"No?" Jay said confused.
"Okay. I don't think this one's too bad." She said appearing again in probably the 10th dress, Jay gave up keeping count.
"Yeah, it's fabulous." He said happily. Running his hands through his hair, this was exhausting.
"Really?" She said titling her head to the side as she looked in the mirror.
"Yeah." Jay nodded.
"Okay. Great. Good." She smiled then turned back to him, "Um...How about the blue one?"
"The blue one?" Jay said a little annoyed.
"Yeah."
"The first one that you tried on that was boring and lumpy, but that wasn't actually boring and lumpy, that one?"
"Yeah, which do you prefer?" She smiled.
"I don't know. I'm actually starting to go mad." He shrugged as he rubbed his eyebrow, something he did when he was annoyed or exhausted.
"I think I like the blue one." Erin said turning around to go change again.
"Okay. Yeah. Sure."
"Okay. Okay, let's go with this one, then?" She said rubbing her hands down the sides of the dress and then resting them on her growing bump.
"You look amazing." Jay said approaching her from behind and resting his hands on top of hers.
"Really?"
"Yes. Always." He smiled.
"Okay, thanks," She bent forward, exhausted, "That was tough work, I don't even want to leave the house now."
Jay laughed, "No way, I sat through you changing outfits for an hour, you aren't getting out of this one. Sorry."
"But..."
"But nothing, we have a night to ourselves and don't you want to see what I was like in my senior year."
"Fine! But the first high school sweetheart to hit on you, I'm out."
Jay grabbed her waist and pulled her close, "Even if someone did hit on me, your the one I'm coming home with. Trust me coming home will be worth it, just you wait."
He started walking off, "Halstead what do you have planned mister."
"Just you wait Mrs Halstead! Now let's go." He shouted.
They walked into Jays old high school hall, hand in hand. Jay couldn't be prouder about where he was today, there was definitely some bumps here and there but that's what made him who his and it helped bring him and Erin together.
"Jay Halstead is that you?" A girls voice shouted from behind them.
They both turned around, it was Ally and Erin knew exactly who she was. 'The' high school sweetheart and the one he had a fling with before they started dating. This girl was a big part of his life and so was her family. Erin wasn't the usual one to be jealous but her hormones were all out of whack.
"Ally? Hey." Jay said embracing her in a hug.
"It's great to see you, I didn't expect you to come tonight." She said happily, while touching Jays arm.
Erin was taken back, she wasn't just his date. She was his wife and he was completely ignoring the fact that she was there.
She cleared her throat, breaking the two out of their bubble, Ally quickly dropping her hand from Jays arm.
"Sorry, Ally this is my wife Erin." Jay said grabbing ahold of Erin's waist.
"Wife? Surprised you got this one into a committed relationship, never could get past the hooking up stage or high school romance," Ally chuckled.
"Huh." Erin scoffed.
"Nice to meet you Erin." Ally said extending her hand for Erin to shake. Erin was hesitant but in the end shook it, out of respect to Jay. She didn't want to be hostile even though her hormones were telling her to do exactly that.
Erin rested her hand on her small bump, which Ally realised and was once again surprised, "Babe I'm just going to head to the bathroom. Grab me a soda?"
"No worries." Jay said leaning down to kiss Erin's cheek before she walked off.
Then Ally and Jay were left by themselves again, "You look really happy Jay."
"I am. I really am, I hope you are too."
Ally shrugged, "I have met a few guys but nothing long term. So your married, Erin's pregnant, anything else your hiding?"
Jay chuckled and pulled his wallet out of his jacket, "A daughter, Lillian."
Ally grabbed the photo off Jay, "Wow she is beautiful. Your mum would be so proud Jay."
"I think she would be too."
"Well you better get going, it was really good to see you. I'm glad your happy, maybe a little sad that I couldn't be the one to make you that happy but it's still good to see. Make sure you go see mum and dad yeah? They miss you."
Jay cleared his throat, "Uh yeah I will. Thanks Ally."
Ally gave Jay a quick hug, "See you around."
"Bye Ally." He watched her walk off, then he walked off to grab a beer, he was going to need it.
Erin made her way out of the bathroom and started searching for Jay. Of course he was at the bar, where else would he be.
She started making her way over to him, he was chatting with a couple other men, no women this time. She was thankful, she wasn't sure how much more her hormones could take.
Erin snaked her arm around Jays waist once she got close to him, "Sorry I took so long."
"All good?"
"Yeah, guess my bladder isn't what it use to be after giving birth once and being pregnant again." She chuckled, as did Jay.
"Erin this is Matt and Timothy, buddies of mine from back in the day." Jay said introducing her to the two guys that stood in front of them.
She shook each of their hands, "Nice to meet the both of you, any stories you care to share about this one?"
"Oh I think we have a few."
After sharing some of Jays embarrassing high school stories they both started questioning the pair about how they met.
"We work together." Erin smiled.
"Woah, seriously? Didn't expect that." Tim said surprised.
"Yep, partners. Completely platonic in the beginning..."
Erin scoffed, "Okay, if that's how you want to tell it."
"How do you want to tell it then? It's the truth, if I crossed that line I would have been kicked out of the unit or worse."
"And what's worse Halstead?" Erin raised an eyebrow, while Tim and Matt chuckled at the pair.
"Let's just say you probably wouldn't be pregnant right now."
"Why do you say that?" Matt asked curiously.
"Let's just say our boss is Erin's father figure and he made sure I knew to keep it in my pants." Jay shrugged.
"Oh woah, screwing the bosses daughter? You always were getting into trouble."
They all laughed, "Well let's just come to the agreement that everything ended up working out."
Jay smiled towards Erin and reached his arm around to rest on her bump, "It sure did."
Tim smiled, "Man look at you. The guy that was a heartbreaker is now the most loved up in the whole room."
"So anyway enough about us, what have you two been up too? I'm sorry we lost touch, after school I kinda went under the radar." Jay said somewhat disappointed.
"It's all good man, we knew what you needed to do, and we respect that. Now your a detective in one of the most respected units in all of Chicago, we are proud of you." Matt said.
"Says the guy that now owns his own real estate empire." Jay joked.
"Yeah but your saving lives, it's a little different." Matt shrugged, Tim agreed.
Erin shifted from Jay, "I'm going to go for a walk. Leave you boys to talk a little more."
Jay stepped back, "You okay? We can head home if you want?"
Erin smiled, "No I love seeing you catch up with old buddies Jay, seriously I'm fine just gotta move around a little."
"An hour and we will go home yeah?"
"Okay." Erin said as Jay kissed her cheek.
"Good to see you finally screwed your head on Halstead." Tim said.
"Yeah well I had to at some point didn't I?" Jay chuckled.
"So surely you can tell us about some crazy cop stories?" Matt asked.
"Oh where to start, there's a few."
