Hi. I hope you're all staying safe and looking after yourself wherever you are in the world. Sorry for the long gap, enjoy this next chapter.

Danny had held the doors open for Kara as they walked down to the car park but that was it, no talking, just silence and it was deafening. They got to the car park and Danny cleared his throat.

"Did you drive?" he eventually said.

Kara tightened her lips, "No, I walked. It's good exercise."she said almost too forcefully.

"I'll take you back to the hotel, you can pick up your things." he told her detachedlyand he started to walk off towards a truck and he didn't wait for her response. He didn't look back, simply walked off and clicked the key to deactivate the lock.

Kara rolled her eyes and gritted her teeth, she wished he would just get it over with. She walked after him and rounded the side of the vehicle. He was stood holding the door open for her, he caught her eye and his jaw set. He was not happy. She got in silently and he pushed the door closed firmly behind her. She wondered how long it would take to get to the house, no doubt it would feel forever and she was dreading the journey. She didn't know if or when Danny was planning on actually talking to her but his silence told her everything she needed to know about her roots.

He walked round the front of the truck and hopped in. She heard him breathe in deeply through his nose.

"Are you packed?" he asked without even looking at her.

"Yeah, pretty much. I just need to…"

"Fine, I'll go and get them when we get to the hotel." he cut her off.

"I can get my bags, Danny." she snapped. He rubbed his hand across his jaw and kicked the truck into drive. He took off and Kara felt herselff being pushed back into her seat by the sudden acceleration. He took another deep breath and vehicle slowed slightly, as if he suddenly became aware of his unborn child being in the vehicle.

Kara took a deep breath, contemplating asking a question that she'd been considering since leaving the hospital. She figured he was already mad so she might as well.

"Can we go by my office?"

"CHRIST KARA." he was almost shouting, with a force that locked his arms at the wheel and pushed his upper body back into seat. He took another deep breath, ran his hand through his hair and went back to staring at the road. Kara stared out of the window in the opposite direction, she was starting to settle into this hostile atmosphere.

Eventually she said, "Well I need to tell them I won't be in work for the next two weeks." She turned her head to look at him as she said and he just continued to stare out at the road. His eyes flicked, the only indication that he'd heard her.

"I'll make sure they know and I'll also make sure they know that they're not to send any work back to you."

" I can tell them myself, Danny." She snapped, she couldn't believe that he was trying to be this controlling.

"Of course because you're really good at telling people what's going on these days, Kara." he bit back.

Kara swallowed, ok so he did have a point there. She hadn't really told him what was going on and she felt remorse. It hit her in a big way.

"I'm sorry, Danny." she said, biting her lip.

He just shook his head, not even looking at her, as he pulled into the pull in at the hotel. "I'm not ready to hear it, Kara." He slipped out of the truck and threw the door shut behind him. His comment just hung there and Kara sighed, the realisation dawning on her that she may have truly fucked it this time.

She sat there, her elbow resting on the arm rest, her fingers massaging her forehead. She wondered how Danny was going to get in her room, the remembered he still had a key. She just waited and jumped slightly when she heard the thud of Danny putting her suitcases in the back. He opened the back door and half threw her overnight bag on the seat.

He climbed in. "I made sure I picked up your stuff from the bathroom and I checked the cupboards." He was satisfied by the fact that she had at least packed with the intention of moving into the house. All he needed to do was pack what had been left in the bathroom.

"Thank you." she said as he pulled out onto the road. She'd always imagined that once they were of the ship they would go on adventures together, get a truck and eplore the local area together. This was not what she'd had in mind. The journey wasn't going to last much longer, the house was only a few block away, so it wasn't going to last forever.

Danny pulled the truck onto the driveway. Neither of them had spoken for the rest of the journey, it had just been dark silence. Danny got out and went to open up the house, he turned to find Kara picking her suitcase out of the back. He went over and took the suitcase out of her hands.

"I've got it." He told her and she just gave in. Nothing she did tonight would be right and it was probably best just to keep quiet and let Danny stew on it until he was ready to talk. Danny let Kara in first, following her with her bags. He put them by the stairs and them threw the truck keys onto the table.

"I'll take your bags up, your room is ready whenever you want to go up." He started up the stairs and Kara just stared after him, her hands on her hips. When she was sure he wasn't within hearing distance, she let out a noisy breath. She heard him put the suitcases down and then move into his room. She started up the stairs after him, slowly but that was more to do with her mood not her blood pressure.

The room was still as beautiful as it had been, the bed was beautifully made and Danny had left her suitcases on the bed. She opened them up and started to put away the few clothes that were in there. She'd fully moved off the Nathan James but she hadn't had much personal clothing on there. Danny had managed to bring more of her stuff back when he'd gone to Norfolk.

She heard Danny's door shut and she looked up, he was stood by her open door, not fully in the frame. He'd gotten changed into casual clothing, jeans and worn with a faded bike company logo on the front. He rubbed his head then pulled on a baseball cap and from her angle it meant she couldn't see his eyes.

"I have to go to the ship and I'll let them know at your office that you're signed off sick. Ill be back in a couple of hours. I'll ask Bacon to plate some food for us." None of his statement invited Kara to have an input but she responded anyway.

"OK, thanks," she said as he started to walk off, not waiting or her answer. She heard him pick up the keys, the door slam behind and the truck move of the drive. Her full understanding of how pissed he was demonstrated when she heard him overly rev the engine, causing the tyres to spin slightly, the grating of rubber on road emphasising Danny's mindset. Kara sighed, if Danny didn't talk to her it could be a long two weeks and the day her mother arrived couldn't get there quick enough.
