The Girl's Dorm ,Gryffindor Tower, Hogwarts Castle, Wizarding World...

Swirling thoughts had come into play as a weary Hermione Granger slept. The embittered wind howled outside her bedroom in Gryffindor tower ensuring an asupcious night had taken on a rather eerie sense. Severus Snape had been yet to return and the anxiousness of the slumbering witch had not yet subsided. Ginny Weasley had been kind enough to attempt to reassure her friend that she'd been studying way too much and her bout with nerves was a sign that she needed to get some rest before she lost herself completely. In an attempt to combat her friend's suspcions and adhereance to their well meaning gestures, Hermione had turned in for the night not at all expecting to fall into a rather deep slumber in contrast to her already racing thoughts. In the dark of night, Hermione began to toss and turn as she attempted to navagate her vast collection of fragmented memories hoping to make sense of the way she was feeling. In her heart she had known that she had loved Severus Snape since they were both children but she also worried about their shared strange ablities and the threat the despot, Sirius Black, and Dumbledore posed to not only their relationship but whatever had been according to their nature. It was clear that Dumbledore had seperated them when Sirius pulled his little stunt but to outright lie to them both and have Severus believe she'd been dead. Even more startling had been the uneasy feeling she got as the fragmented memory of her long lost child's birth and death had come into view.

Trembling, Hermione Granger found herself venturing down a long and winding hall not so unlike the cramped creaking halls of 12 Grimmauld place back in the muggle world. A voice called to her in the distance and before she knew it, she'd been racing to catch up to it. It sounded strangely familiar yet vastly odd. The closer she got as she trailed down the winding halls and her ears picked up the rapid creaking the more familiar the voice seemed to be.

Finally cornering it in a strange room empty aside from a lone mirror in the center beside a window where the downpour of a lengthy storm had gotten her attention, Hermione recognized that the voice had belonged to her...or rather to her former self...Evelyn Shaw-Snape.

{"Took ya long enough."} it said peering at her from inside the strange mirror.

Hermione had been startled by the strange accent that vastly differed from her own but approached the mirror with caution.

{"All of the pieces of the puzzle are a bit scrambled if you know what I mean...but you know how to fix them."} continued Eveyln.

"And just how would I do that?" asked Hermione with an arched brow. "Speaking to you in the mirror from my dream isn't exactly...}

Evelyn rolled her eyes.

{"Look into the mirror."} urged the reflection from the past.

Hermione sighed not in the mood to argue with her past self as she noted just where she had been.

"The mirror of Erised." she said as the image changed and the fragment of memory became more clear in the reflection of the mirror.

Unknown Location, Unknown World...

Sweat slick and panting, Evelyn Shaw found herself surrounded by med-witches as she went into contractions. She could feel the sudden onset of anxiety and knew first hand whom it had been. Madam Pomfrey attempted to see to her breathing as the contractions became more and more frequent. She could feel her husband's fear and wanted so badly to reassure him but her own fear had crept in as she found herself giving birth quite early and the uncertainty of whither or not the baby would survive weighted heavily upon her. Shouting came from the nearby corridor before a young Severus Snape came busting through the door determined to be with his ailing wife and unborn child.

He'd been anxious and terrfied but Eveyln remained his main priority as well as their baby.

Fury radiated off him in waves but he knew that the last thing his wife needed was to see him as distressed as he was.

Dumbledore entered next tredding lightly as he'd had little experiance with birthing and the like.

Severus refused to sit outside and swiftly took Evelyn's hand as she continued to wince in reaction to the contractions.

"S-Severus..." said the winded young Ravenclaw witch.

The Slytherin lad kneeled at his wife's side ignoring the protests of the med-witches and Madam Pomfrey especially not in the least worried bout their issue with his being in the same room. He had already seen more than enough in terms of his wife's body for them to object and death in droves since the passing of his mother and the arrest of his muggle father. Outside the infirmary, Lily Evans and James Potter stood unsure of what to make of the turn of events.

"She's really having a baby." said Lily flabberghausted by the tragic occurence.

"Yeah." said James in disbelief. "And there is no telling what kind of complications this will bring."

Sirius Black stood with his arms folded across his chest as he anxiously awaited his fate after his prank gone wrong.

The look on Severus Snape's face when the explosion happened...and Evelyn had not appeared to have been moving had haunted him in some ways.

"Are you happy now Sirius?" asked Lupin glaring at his so called friend after his antics in potions class. "Was it as satisfying as you always believed it would be?"

"Fuck you Remus." growled Sirius enraged.

"He's going to kill you...you know." added Pettigrew. "Snape's going to kill you."

"And then he'll be thrown into Azkaban." snapped Sirius. "It's the kind of place a filthy sod like him belongs..."

"Shut up." growled James Potter knowing their bickering was upsetting Lily, whom had been quite fond of Evelyn Shaw.

"She's going to be alright isn't she?" asked Lily still somewhat shocked about the outcome of Sirius' prank. "Evie and the baby have got to be alright...Sev...I've never seen him so upset."

"I'm sure everything will be fine." James attempted to reassure her although he had not been so certian himself.

The Infirmary, Hogwarts Castle, Wizarding World...

Severus had not let go of her hand since he entered the room. His focus had been on his young wife as she did the nearly impossible despite her injuries and youth. It had taken a good deal of time and a momumental amount of effort but Evelyn managed to give birth to a pale, raven haired baby boy whom had not been breathing when he intitally came into the world. Severus had noted this immediately but attempted to keep from upsetting his wife all the more.

"Evelyn..." he said getting her attention.

She seemed to ignore him for a time as questions began to fill her mind as to why their son wasn't breathing.

"Severus...he's not breathing..." she said beginning to panic.

"The med-witches are looking into it." he assured her.

"Severus..." said Eveyln feeling her body grow weaker as she met his eyes. "S-Something's...wrong..."

Her temperature spiked in the wake of the ordeal and she ended up passing out, the last thing she saw was her baby in the arms of what had not been a med-witch as Severus began to panic and the machines began to go into a frenzy.

"S-Severus...our son...take care of...our son." had been among the last of her words to the shocked wizard whom she pledged to spend the rest of her life with.

Hermione gasped as the memory continued to clear itself within her mind and she awoke at the first light of dawn. Her baby had been in the arms of one Peter Pettigrew the night she was said to have died. He had not been breathing when they initally took him out of her arms but she could have sworn she saw his tiny pale fist move while the Gryffindor youth carried him out of the door while everyone in the room had been much too concerned with what had been happening to her. From the symptoms, she had been suffering from an acute poisoning but the antidote was administered to her by one Albus Dumbledore shortly after an enraged Severus rushed after Sirius Black to confront him.

She recalled his anguish and the subsequent rage he felt after the fact, but then everything went blank after Dumbledore administered the antidote and she found herself in the care of the Grangers.

"Dumbledore knows what happened to my son." she said throwing back the covers and spelling on her school attire as she rushed out the door and toward the Headmaste's office.
