"What is this?"

"It's a menu."

"I ask for what I want and someone will bring me food?"

"You've never been to a restaurant?"

"Only in the car. They give the food through the window."

Amelia grabbed a few dinner rolls and put them in her pocket. "I want to take these, so I will have food for later."

"I'll get you more food for dinner. Take the bread out of your pocket."

"Can I have a cheeseburger, fries and pizza?"

"That's a lot of food. How about you pick two foods, and we can come back here for dinner or go to another restaurant."

"Okay, I want a cheeseburger and fries and pizza for dinner."

"That's fine."

The waiter came to the table and Olivia gave the waiter their orders. Fitz was giving Karen her bottle. He didn't know what Olivia wanted to do about Amelia. He knew he wasn't sending her to Alaska. If a drunk uncle was his only option, he would move Amelia into his house permanently. He could be a better dad than Jake.

"Fitz am I going home with you or Ms. Pope?"

"You can ask Ms. Pope that question."

"Fitz said I can live with him if nobody wants me."

"How about you and Fitz come home with me and Karen."

"Ms. Pope. Why is your baby peach? She's not brown."

"Because her birthmom and dad are white."

"You don't know your colors Ms. Pope. Fitz and the baby are peach. We are brown. My mom said I'm ugly because I'm black. I told her I'm brown not black."

"You are not ugly."

"I want to be pretty like you. Your eyes are like mine."

"You are pretty, and you do look like me."

"When dad moved out, he didn't want me to go with him. I asked mom can I go live with my brown mom and she said my brown mom is a black bitch and she doesn't want me. Nobody wants me."

Olivia was speechless and full of anger. She didn't want to scare Amelia, so she refrained from saying what she really thought about Jake and Abby.

"Amelia, I'm your mom."

"You're my teacher."

"I'm also your mom."

"Why don't I live with you?"

"I'm taking you home with me."
