Hi readers!!
Thank you to anyone who read or reviewed. That really lifted my spirits!! :D
I looked through a few reviews from a while back and one asked for some sort of moment with either all of Percy's family or Annabeth's. So that's what will be included today!!
Enjoy today's chapter!!
Annabeth lay in bed.
School had ended approximately 30 minutes ago and she was already bored with nothing to do.
She was scrolling through her camera roll on her phone and smiling at all the happy moments that had been caught on camera. She decided that she wanted to print some of them off to add to her collection of photos on her bedroom wall so she busied herself with uploading them onto her laptop so that she could do just that and not wallow in her boredom instead.
She spent a long amount of time uploading several pictures before connecting them to the small printer on her desk. She quickly checked that there was enough ink and paper stored in it before pressing the print button.
That was when her brother Matthew came and barged into her room.
"Matthew!" She scolded. "I've told you on multiple occasions to knock before you come in."
He shrugged.
"Mom and dad said that they want you to come down to dinner." He told her.
"Tell them that I'm not hungry." She said not wanting to join them. She'd probably sneak down at night and get something to eat then instead.
He shook his head. "They said that you have to come down whether or not you want to otherwise you'll have to face the consequences."
She groaned into her hands. "Fine. Tell them I'll be there in a moment."
"Okay." He replied and left the room.
She could hear his footsteps resonating against the floorboards as he ran down the stairs.
"Guess I'll sort out the photos afterwards," she muttered shooting a longing glance at the printer as the photos were slowly coming through.
She pulled her hair into a ponytail so it wouldn't fall into her food and left the room to join her family in the torture that was known as a small family dinner.
A few minutes later...
The Chase family sat around the table, eating in silence.
It was broken when Annabeth's father spoke.
"So?" He began. "Annabeth, how was your day?"
"Good." She replied, not bothering to go into detail.
"Good?" He prodded further. "Did anything interesting happen?"
"Not really," was her answer.
"Have you made any friends yet?"
She seethed on the inside. They had moved to NYC more than 2 months ago. He knew that she had been at several sleepovers and had even met a few of her friends when they had come over to their house. And yet he managed to keep up an act of nonchalance. Did he think of her as a loner? Probably.
"Yes." She replied determined to keep her cool.
"Well why don't you ever invite them over?" Her stepmother asked.
That blew it.
She was angry now.
"I have!" She yelled standing up. "You probably would have noticed if you ever payed any attention to me or tried to get to know me but of course you didn't! All you care is about your perfect little family that doesn't include me. All because of the fact that you don't like me and that you've never liked me, even from the beginning!" She slammed her fist down in anger.
Her father opened his mouth to speak but was cut off by her stepmother.
"Young lady," she said. "I do not appreciate the tone that you are using to speak to me. Neither do I like the treatment you give to your father and brothers. I want you to apologise to us all right now!"
"Never!" Annabeth retorted.
"Then go to your room."
"Gladly!"
She ran out of the dining hall and up the stairs to her room making sure to slam the door loudly as she walked in.
She stood with her back firmly against the door and slowly sunk into a sitting position.
She put her head into her hands and breathed heavily.
Due to the impact of her slammed door against the wall a picture flew from her printer and onto her lap. She looked up from her hands and saw the picture.
It was from the New Years sleepover that she and her friends had had at Piper's.
The picture was taken during a pillow fight with the e boys against the girls.
They had all ended up making a human pile after tripping over Leo who had fallen during the game.
They had laughed about it for a long time and the thought brought a smile to her face.
She had a family. Just not the one downstairs.
Instead it was one that had an unbreakable bond that had been moulded over laughter and pizza.
Thank you so much for reading this chapter.
I don't think I'll be able to write tomorrow since I'll probably be rushing all the online work I was too lazy to do. Oops!
Cya soon!
