So the plot thickens. The next few chapters will tie a whole lot of things in together before we finish. I appreciate everyone of you. Enjoy.
"Explain what?" Lloyd said in exasperation. He looked like he wanted to hit the giant eagle in the face with the ball of energy.
"How about how I am not dead. And how we have to go get that sword back from that asshole." Moria snapped back holding her arms out in frustration. Her dark hair flopping over in its ponytail and trailing over her dark clothing.
"NO! I meant how the hell you called the devil bird." Lloyd replied with a grunt.
"Lloyd will you cool it? Seriously" Bree interjected.
"I called them like I usually do" Moria said. Tapping the side of her head.
"Egh?" Lloyd grunted.
"Lloyd will you drop the ball of energy and the fucking attitude while you are at it" Bree snapped. "I swear to god, I want to go the hell home. If Moria can help us get the fucking sword and we get home I don't care if she can talk to you in your head. I want to frigging go home." Her snarl of anger making Lloyd pause and re think. And Bree open and close her fists several times to cool herself off.
Lloyd dropped the energy ball and cocked his head to look at her. His blond hair falling over his eyes and he flicked his head in annoyance. The Roc, chirped almost pleasantly and crawled much like a parrot again until he was above them on the cliff face before settling in with a purbp noise like a cat and fluffing his feathers out like a chicken. It was hard to decide whom to stare at. Moria or the giant eagle. Morrow being the only one to finally settle on the bird. Things that fly were a fascination to him and the bird was no exception.
"Moria's mother was Djin. Her father is from Ninjago, another elemental master like us all. Three guesses as to whom he might be?" Bree asked with a sarcastic grin.
"My dad is still alive?" Moria yelped in surprise. Clapping her hands over her mouth. And then silence as the whorl of emotions over took her. "Given how much older you and Hurem are I thought he would have been long dead by now" She said quietly through her hands.
Harumi humphed at the insinuation of her ageing but quieted herself. She had lost several sets of parents. Then found, lost and then found family again in Bree and Alanna. She knew just how overwhelming it might be. In an uncharacteristic move Harumi put a hand on Moria's shoulder.
"My lady, there is no need to worry about me. This is... I can get to see my da again. We can free the rest of the Djin from the sword and get out of this wrecked hellhole. The Roc's and I have barely been surviving as it is. A few more years and we won't be able to make it anymore." Moria said her voice cracking with emotion. Making her high pitched voice even more so.
"It's not lady or princess or anything else. It's just Harumi." She replied quietly before half startling herself. "There are people trapped in the sword?" she asked in disgust.
Bree was the only one other than Moria that was able to keep a straight face and not one of horror.
"The screaming?" Bree asked quietly. Her hands balling into fists as she closed her eyes.
"Your mother tried helping the people out, or at least she was trying to when you both portaled out of here. The others for some reason couldn't follow through. The instant the both of you went through the portal at the palace it slammed shut in a fiery glow of magic. From your mothers angry voice we could hear for a few seconds it wasn't either of you that did that. We tried and tried and every portal was closed. None of us could get out. Our djin magic wasn't working. Nothing was working and we were all going to be crushed when the weight of the buildings hit the ground. In the last few min before the total collapse your great uncle decided to use to sword to put whatever children we could find into the sword. That would survive no matter the carnage and the hope was that your mother would someday be able to break it and everyone free again. Not all of us would fit in alive unfortunately." Moria explained. Her voice still straining.
"And Sesmi caught you when the buildings collapsed" Morrow volunteered. Drawing himself away from looking at the Roc.
"Yes, I had always snuck him food as a hatchling. He was the only one that was so dark. And he was so tiny as a baby, the others always picked on him. As he got older I kept feeding him his favorites out of the kitchen. Even after mom caught me and told me not to. That he had to learn to hunt for himself. And he just kept getting bigger. When I was falling and the buildings were crushing everyone he swooped in and saved me." Moria answered.
"Why can't they eat ghouls like they normally do?" Bree asked suddenly. Having a feeling she knew.
"Whatever magic the guy with the sword and some creepy looking wraith did the rocs and wolves and everything else can no longer eat the ghouls. If they do they get sick and die. So only the rocs have been able to stay alive by flying extremely long distances with me to find food for them. They will only even try to eat fish now. Anything that looks remotely ghoul like they wont come near" Moria explain with a sigh.
"Oh so we didn't have to worry about them eating us if they cant see us well at night?" Lloyd interrupted. Only to have Moria glare at him sideways.
Bree, Harumi and Moria continued talking about the land and things that Moria had been through. The guys stood watching them and also watching the Roc, Sesmi, softly chirping and waiting on Moria. Almost like he was joining in on the conversation.
"Bree" Cole said. With Bree continuing to talk animatedly with Moria and Harumi.
"Bree..."Cole then huffed in annoyance. Bree not answering but instead switching to a different language. With a humpgh Cole knew it was't a language any of the others other than the girls knew. Not even Caladonian. But most defiantly a dialect of Djinjagin that Cole and the other two did not understand. And all three of them found it highly amusing.
"Ok thats it" Cole muttered under his breath. Wrapping an around around Bree's waist. Harumi snorting at his actions.
"So, we think we have an idea of how we are going to get close enough to this... Fenwick person. And snatch the sword and get out of here" Moria explained. Her accent more thick the more she spoke her first language aloud.
Harumi snorting and breaking out into laughter.
"Whats so funny Rumi?" Lloyd snapped in no small amount of impatience.
"Welp nobody else is gonna like it. In fact I don't really like it either." Bree added.
"Oh no" Morro laughed quietly. He had gotten the idea real quick.
"Plan on sharing?" Cole asked dryly. Giving Bree the slightest bit of a shake around her waist.
"All three of your elemental dragons are a tell tale sigh of just who exactly you are. Announcing your presence from a long long way off. So what, or more exactly whom has been flying around Djinjago for months and will go relatively unnoticed." Harumi said snarking at Cole.
"Oh no is right" Morrow said uneasily. Trying to pass off his own discomfort as amusement.
"Oh yes" Moria quipped. Reaching up to pat the large Roc that was still merrily chirping away.
It was hard to tell who was more disgusted Cole or Lloyd. But the blond ninja won that test by a mile.
