Chapter 55: Freedom Fight
The jaws of everyone in the hall dropped to the floor. They all had the same thought. WHEN DID NIGHTWING EVER HAVE MAGIC? But, low and behold, there stood their leader with a titan beside him. Cavalier, as he had called it. Or him? Who knows.
''Cavalier, let's teach these psychos a lesson they'll never forget,'' Dick growled, his titan nodding in response.
Nightwing pulled out his escrima sticks. The two launched themselves at the agents and Fentons. Agents started flying as they were charged through. They have never seen Nightwing this scary.
''Raise your hand if you never want to make Nightwing angry again,'' Gar says, everyone raising their hand.
''How did this even happen,'' Roy wondered.
They all looked at the mystics. Most of them just shrugged in response.
''Guys, they're still dying,'' Jaime yelled at them. ''A LITTLE HELP WOULD BE NICE, YOU KNOW.''
''Sorry,'' they all apologized.
'' , Caitlin, Sarah, Ethan, Beast Boy, Lena, Krinos, Mason, Red Arrow,'' Kaldur started ordering. ''Go, and help, Nightwing. The rest of us will try and help the twins.''
The eight of them ran to help the raging Bat Boy. Not that he looked like he needed their help. In fact, he had taken one of Cavalier's flame swords and was ripping through the agents like a meteor through paper. He was like a bull that's just seen red. They were actually a little scared to be near him while he was in this state. But they did it anyway.
''Yoohoo, boys,'' Lena whistled.
Some of the agents stupidly turned around to face her. And they got a face full of poppy pollen. Their eyes seemed to glaze over, getting dizzy and sleepy. Poppy's were known for having a sleepy effect on people.
''Have at 'em, Caitlin,'' she called.
The were-cat lit her hands up with light.
''Sunlight shards,'' she cast.
Diamond hard shards of light came shooting from her hands. They sent the group of agents flying back. Caitlin blew the golden smoke away from her hands, like old fashioned police or old western people did in stereotypical detective and cowboy movies.
''Fly too close to the sun, you're bound to get burned,'' Caitlin smirked.
Two agents, behind her back, tried to shoot. But their guns were pulled from their hands by an invisible force. Next thing they knew, they were thrown against the wall. was floating above them with her hand outstretched.
''When you thought they couldn't get any lower, they attack when your back is turned,'' she shook her head.
''Do you expect these psychos to have honor,'' Mason asked, hitting an agent in the head with a mace he had summoned. ''Cause they haven't shown any so far.''
just rolled her eyes and flew somewhere else to fight. Mason then swapped his mace for a classic medieval shield and sword.
''Over your head, Mason,'' Gar warned, jumping up.
He changed into a kangaroo in midair. Mason held the flat end of the shield above his head and Beast Boy jumped onto it. The green kangaroo was basically launched into the battle. He went full on down-under boxer.
''Where's outback music when you need it,'' Mason thought.
Red Arrow pulled back his moon bow. Letting it fly, the silver arrow turned into a blizzard and sent a half down agents flying. As Ethan zipped next to him, knocking out an agent with his nightsticks, he stood next to the archer.
''Is there any way I could keep this,'' Roy smirked, holding the bow.
''Don't ask me,'' Ethan says. ''Alain's the one that guards it. I'm just a vampire.''
He then sped off.
''I asked that because he's a seer,'' Roy says to himself.
Sarah zig-zagged through the agents, ramming into one each time she changed directions and went toward another. But she suddenly had to duck a large wooden root that had shot out of the ground. She stopped her super-speeding and turned to face Krinos.
''Try to take my head off, why don't ya,'' she scolded him.
''You're a vampire, your instincts are good enough to dodge,'' the nature lord countered.
''You know, other vampires would kill to be this close to you,'' Sarah says. ''Makes it easier to drain the blood of the lord of nature.''
''Like any vampire could kill me,'' Krinos smirked. ''They'd have to catch me first.''
He vanished in a swirl of leaves and petals, back to battle.
''I hate it when he does that,'' Sarah complained, speeding off again.
Nightwing charged toward the Fentons. He was a hurricane of power and anger. He swung the flaming sword like an arch of pure destruction. In other words, time to plan a funeral for the psycho scientists.
''You two have caused my family more pain than any villain ever has,'' Dick growled at the two. ''I don't care if you think they're evil, what you're doing is wrong. You're torturing them to death, literally. When i'm done, you'll be lucky if there'll be bodies for your funerals.''
''See, this is what magic does to a person,'' Maddie sneered. ''You're supposed to be a hero, yet you've let magic corrupt you. Turn you into a freak, like them.''
''There's nothing wrong with being a freak,'' Dick stated.
Everyone else was still struggling with the the cells that were killing the twins. The green sound waves were getting worse for Siren and they could see him getting worse by the second. he red veins, for Phantom, were spreading quickly and not showing any sign of stopping.
''What do we do,'' Jaime panicked. ''We can't break the glass.''
''Maybe a metal manipulation spell can destroy the wall between us and them,'' Melinda suggested.
''I could get Beast Boy over here and we can do the cannon ball again,'' Alya shrugged.
''I could freeze the glass like I did the doors from before,'' Alain offered.
''I could channel Zeus and short out the electronic lock,'' Juliet says.
''I can smash the agent's heads against the glass until it breaks,'' Erica evilly smirked.
''Vampires, always with the smashing of heads,'' Valerie shook her head.
Beetle bent down by the glass. Siren finally managed to look. He saw his boyfriend on the other side. Where Beetle's hand was, on the glass, he weakly put his hand there to. His gold tears flowing down his face.
''I love you,'' he mouthed.
''THAT'S IT,'' Jaime yelled.
He shot up, his armor changing into a sonic blaster on his right hand. He fired it directly at the glass wall. Everyone ran out of the way. The sound bounced off the wall like a rubber ball off the floor. Growling, Beetle changed the sonic blaster into mace-like weapon. He repeatedly started hitting the wall, sparks flying from the contact.
''Uh... Jaime,'' Valerie tries.
''Don't even, Huntress,'' Jaime snapped at her. ''He's dying. And in the name of any god out there, I will never let that happen.''
They saw Siren collapse, and he wasn't moving. Blue Beetle's eyes, from the armor, seemed to glow. The mace went away and blue light spheres formed around his hands. With a yell, he fired a giant beam of magical light. The entire hall was blinded as it made contact with the glass wall. Upon impact, the entire wall shattered, showering most of them with almost dist sized pieces of glass.
''I think he knows the armor's magic, now,'' Ethan says.
''What,'' Ma'gann and Gar gasped.
But then, the green sound waves poured into the hall. Every single user of magic held their heads, some even screaming. From the mystics, to even Nightwing and Aqualad. Even Huntress seemed a little nauseous because of her magic infused armor.
''Somebody turn that off before they all die,'' Ma'gann yelled.
Red Arrow immediately ran to the shattered wall and fired another arrow. It turned into ice shards and the sonic device was destroyed. They all quickly recovered, as they weren't exposed for long. Orion flew over and picked up Siren.
''Get Phantom, hurry,'' he cried out.
A combination of Alya's rhino spirit and Superboy's strength took down the wall that was between the twins. Juliet ran forward to deal with the blood blossoms.
''God Hephaestus, I pray to thee,'' she cast.
All the flowers instantly burst into flames. Phantom stopped screaming and collapsed. Superboy picked him up.
''Let's blow this popsicle stand,'' Valerie says.
''Uh... about that,'' Gar trailed off.
It seems that the agents from outside had broken through the ice that kept them out. The group was now surrounded on both sides. Now with two incapacitated heroes and a very weakened Blue Beetle.
''Mama mia, here we go again,'' Alya swore.
