Dany, Jorah, and Ser Barristan were walking along a beach on the Eastern Coast of Mossflower. The dragons flew in the sky overhead. They were the size of large dogs now.

The water was tinted gold and scarlet from soft cloud layers, reflecting the setting sun. Up ahead a mouse and a mole were sitting by a campfire, underneath a tall rock formation. When the mouse saw Dany and her friends, she waved to them. "Hello, travelers. My name is Rose of Noonvale, and this is my friend, Grumm Trencher."

Grumm, the mole, regarded the dragons. "Hurr, they'm look moighty fierce," he said in a strange accent.

"They won't hurt you," Dany assured him. "Not while I'm around. I am Queen Daenerys Targaryen, Mother of Dragons. These two men are Ser Jorah Mormont and Ser Barristan Selmy. The dragons are named Drogon, Viserion, and Rhaegal."

"Nice to meet you," said Rose. "What brings you to the Eastern Coast?"

"I'm hoping to find a ship that will take me back to my homeland, Westeros," said Dany.

"Well, you won't have much luck with that here," said Rose. "The only ships that land on this coast are pirate ships, crewed by vermin that'd kill you as soon as look at you. These are dangerous parts. The only reason I'm here is to look for my brother."

"Your brother?" Ser Barristan asked.

"His name is Brome." Rose pointed north. "We think he's being held in the fortress just beyond those rocks, Marshank."

The name sounded sinister to Dany. "Who lives there?" she asked.

"Badrang. An evil stoat. He wants to rule all of Northern Mossflower. He and his army enslave any creature who comes near Marshank."

"That's horrible!" Dany cried. "No one should be a slave."

"Yes, we've outlawed slavery in Westeros," said Ser Barristan.

"We should put a stop to this," said Dany. "My friends, my dragons and I will do anything possible to help you free your brother, and all the other animals in there," she told Rose.

"Sounds good to me," said Rose.

Jorah liked this idea too. "Maybe after we help them, some of them will want to help us reclaim Westeros!"

Marshank stood grim and forbidding up ahead, a dark hump of misery. It was a big tower surrounded by a wall. Up on the walltop, a young male mouse was tied to an x-shaped rack.

"I am a warrior!" he shouted. "Martin son of Luke! I will live, I will not give in and die up here! Do you hear me, Badrang? I will live to take back my father's sword and slay you one day! Badraaaaaaaannggg!"

Martin wasn't expecting anyone to answer him, but someone did. "Martin son of Luke, can you hear me?"

He could not see the speaker, but he heard the voice clearly. "Yes, I hear you. What is your name?"

"I am Daenerys Targaryen, Mother of Dragons! I've come to help you."

"My name's Rose," said a second voice. "Tell me, is there a prisoner in there called Brome, a young mouse? He is my brother."

Martin said, "I don't know anybeast named Brome, but that doesn't mean he's not here. There's a good many of us, you know."

"What are you doing up there?" Dany asked.

"Badrang tied me up here to punish me for stopping him from whipping another slave. He said the seabirds would rip out my eyes."

"Well, I know a trick or two to drive seabirds away," said Dany.

Grumm pointed up into the sky. "Look out! 'Ere they come!"

A flock of seagulls came flying in. They saw Martin chained to the rack on the walltop and swooped toward him. But Dany said, "Dracarys!" and her dragons flew into the air and started cooking the birds alive in mid-flight. They dropped to the ground, looking like roasted chickens.

Martin found it difficult to take in what had happened. Where just seconds ago there had been vicious birds, intent on tearing him apart, now there were three young dragons hovering in front of him. All he could say was "Great seasons!"

Then the dragons flew over to him and gnawed through his binds with their teeth. Viserion and Rhaegal grasped his shoulders in their talons and carried him down to the ground where Dany and the others were.

"I hope freeing the other slaves will be this easy," Jorah joked.

Martin turned to him. "You want to free us?"

"Yes, we've come to liberate you from that tyrant Badrang," said Dany. "And after we help you, perhaps you and some of your friends could help us. I come from a place called Westeros. By rights I'm the queen there, but my throne has been seized by another tyrant. I need help to fight him and take my kingdom back."

Martin clutched her hand in his paw. "I'm with you! After the way you just saved my life, I'd do anything for you! We'll kill Badrang and free the rest of the slaves, and then I'll go back to your country with you and help you retake your throne!"
