Time for another chapter, honestly this one was written as a recap of sorts for the story so far. The next couple chapters are going to be long ones so it's going to take longer for them to come out.

Since this is a recap, I thought this would be the right time to make an announcement I've had for a while.

Chapter 50 will be the final chapter.

Yep, this fic is finally heading towards it's grand finale. Six more chapters following this one including a three-part story arc. Originally I had planned for the fic to reach 52 chapters, but two stories were merged with two others and cut it down so that it is tied with my Grojband shorts for my longest story. There's still more to come so stay tuned!

To Ironchef13: I was going to have that in the chapter, but I thought having her learn to talk and walk would be to much and I had to choose which one to write.

"Rainbow Glitter Storm!"

Within the blink of an eye, the entire room was engulfed in a cloud of rainbow colored glitter that vanished as it hit the ground "Watch out! The dragon is still moving!" another voice cried out. The heroine looked up at the towering figure before her; the beast that threatened her whole kingdom stared down at her with its bead eyes and tried to intimidate the warrior.

"I'm not afraid! Marshmallow Shooter!" a torrent of marshmallows shot towards the dragon, the blast was enough for the beast to finally collapse as the one who defeated it stood triumphant "Now the kingdom is safe once more! Thanks to its magical princess-"

"Soluna, we're home!"

The mood was interrupted as the young girls parents returned from their meeting, entering their five-year old daughter's room to find an animated plush dragon covered in marshmallows, glitter floating in the air and their child and her babysitter dressed in pillow armor.

"Mom, Dad!" Soluna ran over to greet her parents, her plush adversary returning to normal as her focus drifted elsewhere "You just missed it! Me and Katrina stopped the dragon of fluff from destroying toy kingdom!" the small brunette pointed to a cardboard drawbridge surrounded with dolls, stuffed animals and action figures. Now that the princess was closer, her mom and dad noticed that she had scribbled a heart and crescent moon over her actual cheek marks.

"Oh, and how did you beat the dragon this time?" Star asked as she picked Soluna up into her arms "Marshmallows!" her daughter proudly cheered.

Soluna's amphibian babysitter finished removing her own pillow armor and approached her long-time friends "It was an epic battle indeed, I fake-died twice." Katrina chuckled. Marco smiled fondly at the frog-like monster "Thanks for babysitting again Katrina, we really appreciate it."

"Oh no problem Marco, it's always a blast hanging out with her." Katrina rustled the hair atop Soluna's head, making the young princess giggle "See you next time kiddo." "I'll be waiting!" Soluna and her parent's waived goodbye as Katrina walked down the halls to meet with her dad. While Star and Marco hated having to leave their little girl for a couple of hours when there was major business to attend to, it eased their consciences that Soluna loved playing with her favorite babysitter. The irony that they used to babysit their daughter's babysitter was not lost on any of them.

Closing the door and going back inside Soluna's room, the young princess gathered the toys she had been playing with and herded them back into one section, her father's need to keep things organized already rubbing off on her. When she turned back around her dad held a handkerchief to her face and rubbed off the marks she had scribbled on "Aw I wanted to keep those…" Soluna pouted. Her mother leaned down to be closer to her baby's height "Soluna, you already have your own cheekmarks." She lightly 'booped' one of the eight-pointed stars on her cheeks.

"But I drew on your cheek marks! It was a symbol of how heroic I am to my subjects!" she gestured to the lifeless pile of toys stacked beside her; a sock monkey slowly fell from close to the top.

Ever since she was able to understand the English language, Soluna loved hearing the stories of what her parents had done in their youth. It was inspiring to hear how much unbelievable stuff they had accomplished when they were only teenagers; whenever she could Soluna would ask her parents to tell her one of their adventures as a bedtime story…

"Oh! Can you tell me another story tonight?!" the little princess had a bounce in her step, giving her parents shimmering puppy-dog eyes that she was well aware neither were able to resist.

"Alright, we'll tell you another story. But first you gotta get ready for bed." Marco set the terms and Soluna eagerly agreed as she ran off to the bathroom.

OXOXOXOX

Now dressed in her pajamas, Soluna snuggled into her bed and eagerly awaited her story. Her parents had also changed out of their royal clothes and into casual shirts and pants as they took seats on each side of their daughter "Story time!" Star clapped her hands together, thinking of what tale to tell tonight "Have we ever told you about the time I blew up my wand to save your dad?"

"Yup." Soluna nodded, causing Star to come up with a different story "Ok then…how about when Toffee possessed Ludo?" "Heard that one too." Soluna nodded, remembering her parents telling that story after an old recording of Star's song day ballad was found in the attic.

With both of Star's suggestions shot down, Marco made his suggestion "What about when we stopped Heinous and-" "-Eclipsa saved the day and unfroze auntie Meteora? I know that already!" the little princess groaned, unaware that the version she was told wasn't completely accurate.

"What about when your mom and I started dating and destroyed the old magic?" Marco tried again, predictably Soluna nodded her head again "Dad I've heard that one six times!" she reminded him. By this point, Soluna had heard almost all of the big stories of her parents. She knew how they met, about the blood moon ball, about Doop-doop, how the original magic was destroyed, how the new magic was… "Oh! What about how you guys made the new magic?! I haven't heard that one yet!"

Oblivious to the pained expressions on her parent's faces, Soluna plopped down onto her pillow and waited for them to start. The king cleared his throat and did his best to hide the panic in his eyes from Soluna as he started nervously "W-well it all started right after we destroyed the old magic. Our wish to never be apart used all that we thought remained of magic and merged the dimensions of Earth and Mewni together. We were only apart for such a short while…but every second without Star was unbearable."

"After we were reunited, it was almost impossible to tear us apart." Star took over telling the story "We'd text each other in the middle of the night to check and make sure everything that happened wasn't a dream. The whole world changing didn't make things any easier for us."

Soluna tilted her head in confusion "How come?" "It kept us very busy at first-"Marco answered "Your mother and I knew better than anyone about living in each other's world, so we had to help everyone else adjust to the changes. Thankfully, Eclipsa lightened our load and took on the big hurdles so me and your mother could relax and be normal teenagers for a change."

Taking a turn, Star followed up on what Marco had said "We had to wait a little over a week until we could go on our first date." She recalled, laughing at the memory of Marco freaking out when he realized he hadn't taken her on a date yet. Even now he was still so endearingly awkward when it came to making things special for her sake "The dinner got hijacked by Pony Head but we had fun anyway."

Honestly Soluna was not surprised, she remembered going to Gina Pony Head's birthday a few months ago and her mother livestreamed the whole party with tons of 'surprises' happening when things got slow "But what about the magic?" Soluna whined impatiently.

"We're getting to that." Her dad reassured her "The first few months after the cleave, everything was peaceful. We went on dates, I reunited with Nachos, Star had her first Christmas. It was wonderful…but it turns out our adventures weren't over yet." He gestured for Star to pick up from there, which she obliged "There was a star shower called the Celestial Cosmic Convergence, it happens once every ten years."

Soluna's eyes sparkled with wonder "A star shower! Is it gonna happen soon?"

"The last one happened a few months before you were born." Marco regrettably informed her "It won't be back for another five years." The sparkles in Soluna's eyes vanished and disappointment took its place. Going back to the story, Marco picked up from before "Before this there had been a constant aurora shining in the sky after the worlds cleaved, and then it disappeared during the shower…the same moment the hearts on your mother's face came back."

"Was it because of the stars?" the little princess wondered, looking up at her mother "Partly, we learned a few years later that the aurora was some sort of barrier to keep the magic dormant. The Convergence accidentally shut it down and turned the magic back on. Now are you going to keep asking questions or do you want to hear the rest of the story?" Star teased her little one's constant curiosity. The young brunette giggled and nodded for her parents to continue, holding on to her questions till the end.

Marco was almost about to continue, when he realized what happened next. He froze momentarily, deciding how much he wanted to tell his daughter about what he went through "…You-your mother's magic came back and…well…because of what happened in the realm of magic I-I had magic too." Marco settled on being honest but vague, feeling bitter inside that he was refusing to talk about his corruption just like when it happened, but this time it was his own choice to keep it hidden.

Shifting uncomfortably, Marco couldn't find it in him to continue onward. Star mercifully took over the story while furrowing her brows in concern towards the love of her life "The conversion did something else, it opened a crack in the prison of an evil spirit named Ragnarok."

Soluna tilted her head "Ragnarok, isn't that the talking bear that used to rummage through our garbage?"

"I wish, Ragnarok was the spirit of destruction." Star corrected her daughter "He thought the universe was too chaotic and needed order…by destroying everything in it and leaving only nothingness." Soluna gulped, she knew her parents were brave, but that was the scariest thing she had heard from them so far.

"In order to get out of his prison, Ragnarok needed to find five seals created by the late high commission. So he-" Star paused, taking a moment to gaze at Marco. He had his back to them, yet Star could feel the horrified expression on his face, the terrified beating of his heart, and the absolute guilt he still felt about what he had been forced to do. It had already been fifteen years since the incident, but still Marco was unable to completely let go of his regrets and fears over it. He still grew stiff if the subject was ever brought up, on the rare occasion he would have a nightmare it would more than likely be involved. Proceeding with caution, Star edited the tale for their girl "-he recruited two minions to collect the seals for him, Mina Loveberry, the nutcase that tried to kill all monsters, and Seth, an elderly septarian that terrorized the mewman's for ages."

"Then what happened?" Soluna was on the edge of her seat, completely enraptured by the story.

"Me and…your father…" Star hesitated "Joined up with our friends to stop them. We thought Seth and Mina for every seal, but we kept getting beaten at each one. At the final seal, we not only got a victory against Ragnarok's minions, but also solved the mystery of what happened to the magic after we destroyed it. It turns out that when your father and I stayed behind and wished to stay together, magic split itself in two and sealed itself inside of the two of us. That's why we were the only two with magic at the time."

Clenching the bedsheets in his fist, Marco silently thanked his wife for excluding the worst of it. That he had been brainwashed and forced to fight his friends, how he was the one that kept defeating them at each seal. Marco was devastated about those events enough as it is, but if his baby girl knew what he had done…he couldn't bare the thought.

"Your father and I confronted Ragnarok at his base, what we didn't know was that Pony Head had forgotten to hide the seal we won and had accidentally taken it with her straight to Ragnarok." Star recalled, Soluna slapped her forehead "Why would she do that!?" "I wish I knew…" Star shook her head, as much as she loved her lifelong bestie; she questioned several of the choices she has made. Pony Head was truly an enigma.

"Ragnarok took the seal from Pony Head and used all five of them to break free from his prison. He summoned his creations, the devils of Ragnarok, to destroy all of Earthni! He was so evil that he tricked Mina and Seth and betrayed them both, turning them to ash and leaving nothing behind. It is said their souls are still arguing to this day whose fault it was." The queen recalled, she remembered Tom telling her that normally they would be tortured for eternity for their crimes, but they tortured each other enough that their punishment was being roommates in the undead abyss.

Feeling somewhat more comfortable talking about the subject matter, Marco took a turn telling the story "Our friends went to fight the devils, aided by a badly timed septarian uprising, while me and your mom confronted the big guy on top of his tower." The king finally looked back to face the girls, locking eyes with Star as he recalled how she saved him, smiling gratefully "He was going to open portals to every dimension at once to take everything out in one hit, the Blood Moon gave us a shield so we could actually fight him since anything he touched decayed into nothing. I gave him a good beat down while Star broke his portal connection. Ragnarok was so mad he was going to destroy the whole world before moving on to the rest of the universe."

"No way…how'd you stop him?" Soluna couldn't even imagine what it was like to face such a powerful enemy.

"We couldn't kill him, he was an immortal spirit. We remembered that spirits were like magic, made of energy that can't be destroyed, only contained or changed into a new form. I took your mom's hand-"Marco reached out and demonstrated as he gripped his wife's hand "-and we held our arms out-" Star pushed her free arm forward, leading Marco to mirror her "-and we used every ounce of magic that was sealed inside of us to change Ragnarok into something harmless."

Star made some 'pew pew' noises as she mimicked the massive magic blast they had created "The magic between us merged together into a brand new magic and it EXPLODED across the universe!" Star shouted "We beat the bad guy and as a side effect a new magic spread into everyone in every dimension! Magic was no longer horded by our family alone; anyone could use magic if they managed to dip down inside themselves. But I feared the same kind of mistakes like the Solarian incident would only repeat if anyone could use it, so the two of us created Hank to keep an eye on everyone and take magic away from anyone using it to do bad things."

The princess raised her hand in the air eagerly, impatient to ask all of the questions she had been hoarding as the story went on "Ooh, ooh, can I ask questions now?!" "Ask away sweetheart." Marco tenderly chuckled. Soluna went to open her mouth before stopping and thinking momentarily, she had a lot of questions but she doubted her parents would answer every single one. So she picked the three she wanted to know the most "Ok, first off, what happened to Ramga….Rankarog…that guy?"

Suppressing a pleased grin, Marco answered "Our spell changed him into tiny specks of light; with only a single piece in every dimension they are harmless." The king made it absolutely certain the spirit would never reform. Aside from a piece in every one of the infinite dimensions, Blood Moon had a piece secured in her domain, where no one could reach it.

"Question two-" Soluna continued "If everyone has to unlock magic, how come I was born with it?"

Star took a turn explaining this one "So magic has different levels of power. The five of us that had cheek marks from the old magic had far greater power than anyone who simply unlocked it. It wasn't long after that we discovered the two of us had reached the highest level of magic since it had been sitting inside us for so long. When you were born with those red stars on your face, and you zapped a clipboard out of a doctor's hand in the hospital, we sorta figured out that being the child of the two most powerful magic users let you skip the dip down phase and made your magic very strong."

Curious, Soluna followed up on her question "What's my power level? Am I as strong as you guys, or like Auntie Meteora or grandma?" "We don't know for sure yet." Star answered truthfully "Your powers aren't finished growing yet, when they get stronger we'll test it out."

"Alright, but one more question…" Soluna pulled her blanket closer to her chest "Do you think…maybe one day I'll do something as amazing as you?"

Her parents didn't seem surprised at all by the question; they both wrapped an arm around her and said only one word to her "Absolutely." Star and Marco tucked their little girl in and planted kisses on her forehead, saying goodnight as they watched Soluna seemingly fall asleep. Once the door closed and her parents had left, Soluna peeked on of her eyes open to check that she was alone. After she made sure her mom and dad weren't coming back in, the princess levitated herself down from her bed and walked over to the curtains covering her window. With the same spell she used to get out of bed, Soluna opened the drapes and gazed upwards at the starry skies above her. She leaned onto the edge of the window, her elbows touching the cold frame, and stared into the cosmic wonders that lit up the sky "One day, I want to do something special…something only I can do."

A single shooting star crossed the night sky, signaling a destiny waiting to be found.
