A/N
Probably the last update of the day.
For those asking, this fic will be around 100 chapters, give or take. I'm always a few chapters ahead, but so far it's on track and so nearly finished :)

Rose pulls up outside my house as soon as I unlock the door.
I smile wide and run to her, hugging her tight, telling her I've missed her.
"I could use your help," I tell her once we've exchanged a few words.
"Anything," she smiles, raising an eyebrow in question.
"I need to find Edward."
Crossing her arms, she rolls her eyes. "What's he done now?"
"It's a really long story, but I have a bad feeling … he's going to do something stupid."
She nods, obviously realising how worried I am. "Okay, I'll drive, you fill me in on the way."
"Deal," I nod, quickly grabbing a coat and closing the door again, quickly scanning the hallway —no sign of mom, thank God!
We drive through town on our way to the beach, both of us scanning the streets carefully. I tell her all I can, leaving the specifics out. I tell her that Edward has a really troubled, dark past, adding little hints of his life as I go. She buys it, choosing to believe me, to trust me.
I also tell her how calm he's been, how open and how loving he is. That bit, she struggles with, but takes my word for it, choosing to withhold judgement, for now.
We drive and drive, but he's nowhere to be seen. I call him and text him repeatedly —all attempts at communication go unanswered.
Panic begins to boil over, no longer an anxious simmer in my gut.
Rose tries to keep my mind off everything, telling me stories of Christmas spent on the beach, cocktails watching the sunset on the horizon. I'm almost jealous, but I wouldn't change my Christmas spent with Edward for the world.
Edward.
Where the hell is he?
The sky darkens above us as we reach the beach. I waste no time running from the car into the brutal wind from the sea.
It's deserted. Not a soul braving the weather and the sand. Hope leaves with the whoosh of waves as they retreat back into the ocean.
Rose stands at the car, her eyes scanning the area, her arms wrapped tightly around her torso against the cold. She never complains, even though we've been searching fruitlessly for almost three hours.
I get lost in my own head, looking out over the water, thinking … wondering, praying for a sign of some sort.
Where the hell are you?
We're quiet as I lower myself back into the car, my eyes focused ahead, my mind reeling. Crushing defeat.
"Where to now?" Rose asks, her expression sympathetic, her voice soft.
As I open my mouth to speak, my phone rings and I scramble to find it in my pockets.
"Hello?" My voice is breathless, desperate. I didn't even check the caller ID.
"Bella? It's Emmett … we're, um, on our way to the hospital … there's been an accident."

Don't hate me! I'm sick ... that cuts me some slack, right? LOL.
