A/N
Today's chapters are (deliberately) short, so I've posted four chapters (41-45).
Only one left to go! Should be posted tomorrow!
Vakarian,
Wow. Can't believe you stood me up to hang out with Chellick. Now that hurts.
Did he bring along enough small children to use as human shields in case things got ugly?

Commander,
You really do have issues with Chellick's methods, don't you?
He currently holds the record for the highest rate of collars who ended up convicted. He doesn't work fast, but he's effective – it's pretty rare when he arrests someone who doesn't end up being guilty. I would have thought you'd approve?
Anyhow, Pallin has unfortunately discovered what Chellick and I are up to...so now we've both been sentenced to desk duty for a week. Investigation has stalled out for now until we can figure out a way to work around Pallin.
Let me know when you're back in comms range and we can open a chat.

Vakarian,
Might be a while before I can manage a RTC. Heading our past Omega. Mind you, last time we went through this sector, the engineers told me that we might be able to bounce a signal through Omega to open a chat. I'll let you know if it works.
And, yes, I have issues with Chellick. He was willing to put a naive kid in harm's way for the sake of his case. And then he decided to force me to do his job for him in exchange for her life.
So, yeah, tell him I say hi.

…and, you know what Vakarian? You can also tell him I'll space him if he manages to get you caught in the crossfire of whatever crusade he's working on now.
Seriously, Chellick is bad news.
Stay away from him.
