Silver Beast: Nightmares Part III

Needing to cause a diversion Inuyasha "accidentally" bumped into one of the grocery displays. Just like he planned all of the jars and baked goods on the shelves fell off. Rin began crying from all the noise and grocery shop workers distracted her by checking to see if she was ok. While her attention was directed elsewhere he slipped out of the store and made his way towards the nearest phone booth. Using the only change he could find he quickly dialed her number. To his annoyance nobody answered. Not wanting to leave a message that could possibly get him caught he did the only thing left he could do. He fled. Having searched Kikyo's address up on his laptop he knew exactly where she was. The nomad's estate was a little over four hours away from Port Hardy. If he ran all day he might be able to get to their house by midnight. He could see the lights of the estate up ahead of him when he felt like someone was following him. His eyes widened when Kikyo's scent hit his nose.

"Kikyo?" Inuyasha panted as he turned to speak with her.

Instead of the warm welcome he was expecting he was pinned to the ground with a snarling vampiress above him. Were it not for his lycan speed and strength she would have sank her teeth into his neck. Hurt and confused by her attack he rolled her beneath him and pinned her arms above her head.

"Kikyo stop! It's me!" Inuyasha said as her red eyes dilated with recognition.

"Inuyasha?" Kikyo blinked before sniffing him. She flinched back when her senses were overrun by his sweaty body odor. "Guh! What are you doing here and why do you smell like a wet dog?"

"What?" Inuyasha blinked as he smelled himself. "Oh, sorry. I guess I am kind of gross."

"Why are you all sweaty?" Kikyo blinked as Inuyasha helped her to her feet.

"Because I just ran four hours to come see you!" Inuyasha said as he looked at her in disbelief. "So no hug or kiss hello? You're just going to stand there and insult me?"

"Sorry, you've just surprised me is all." Kikyo apologized as she rubbed her temple. "I've got a lot on my plate right now."

"Shit, Kikyo I didn't mean to snap." Inuyasha sighed as he cupped her cheek in his palm. He flinched at the feeling of her cold skin. "So you really are one of them."

"One of "them?" You make it sound like I'm the bad guy now." Kikyo scoffed as she pushed away his hand. "If it weren't for Naraku..."

"Naraku?" Inuyasha growled. "He's the bastard that bit you?"

"Saved me." Kikyo corrected him. "If it weren't for him I'd be dead."

"Shit! Kikyo, he's the guy that was watching you sleep outside your window!" Inuyasha yelled as he threw his hands up in the air. "He's a fucking creep!"

"He is not a creep!" Kikyo defended. "Naraku's my guardian angel. If it weren't for you I'd still be human."

"What? Ain't no way you're putting the blame on me!" Inuyasha snarled. "This is all your old man's fault!"

"Daddy was only looking out for me." Kikyo argued. "He didn't know about monsters like us."

"Kikyo, you aren't a monster." Inuyasha sighed as he pulled her into his arms. He frowned when she didn't hug him back right away.

"You're wrong." Kikyo said as she sniffed along his neck. Her eyes flared a vibrant red as the tantalizing smell of his blood filled her senses. "Even now as you hold me I thirst for your blood."

"You, what?" Inuyasha paled as he quickly pulled away from her. His eyes widened in shock when he noticed how close she was to losing control over her blood lust. "Kikyo, you can't drink my blood! If you do then I'll..."

"You'll become a monster like me?" Kikyo finished. She laughed when she saw him clench his hands into tight fists. "Would turning your human half into a vampire truly be so terrible Inuyasha?"

"No." Inuyasha admitted surprising her.

"Then why not become what I am?" Kikyo asked. "Why not live with me as a vampire?"

"Because the transformation would drive him mad." Naraku interrupted as he dropped down behind her. "He can never become one of us Kikyo. Just like you said, he is a monster, our natural enemy. His werewolf blood would never stand for it."

"Naraku..." Inuyasha snarled as his eyes flashed red with warning. "I'll kill you for this."

"As if you'd stand a chance half-breed." Naraku chuckled as six more nomads dropped down beside him. "You're in my territory now. If it weren't for Kikyo's delicate condition you'd already be dead for trespassing."

"Condition?" Inuyasha growled as more and more vampires circled around them. "What condition?"

"Kikyo hasn't gained control over her thirst yet." Naraku said as he gingerly ran his claws through Kikyo's hair. He smiled when she leaned into his touch. "I'd hate to think what would happen if she lost control and killed you."

"Kikyo wouldn't kill me." Inuyasha defended. "She stopped when she knew who I was."

"That's only because I didn't have a taste of your blood." Kikyo corrected him. She touched her neck and licked her lips as she said, "Even now my throat burns at the idea."

"Come, I think you've pushed yourself enough for tonight." Naraku said as he placed his hand at the small of her back.

"Get your hands off her, you pervert." Inuyasha growled as the vampires in the trees hissed at his offense. "Kikyo is coming home with me!"

"No, I'm not." Kikyo said as she looked at him regretfully. "I can't be around people yet Inuyasha. My thirst for blood is still too strong. Until I can get control over my new body I have to stay here."

"Please don't go with them Kikyo!" Inuyasha pleaded. "You can stay with me and my family. We can protect you."

"Your home is still too close to humans Inuyasha. The temptation to kill will be too strong. I won't risk killing my own family and friends." Kikyo shook her head. "Besides, you are forgetting your own human blood. I already attacked you once. There's no guarantee without Naraku's help that I won't attack you again. No, Inuyasha. My place is here with Naraku. He is my family now."

"So that's it then?" Inuyasha asked in disbelief. "You're breaking up with me to be with him?"

"I'm sorry." Kikyo nodded as tears filled her eyes. "If things had been different from the beginning maybe..."

"You mean if I weren't half lycan?" Inuyasha corrected her.

"Yes." Kikyo nodded. "Maybe things could have turned out differently?"

"I don't believe this." Inuyasha shook his head in shock. "All your promises about being together through thick and thin were shit. You lied to me Kikyo! You never loved me for me! You didn't mean any of it!"

"Inuyasha!" Kikyo gasped as she went to comfort him.

"No!" Inuyasha stepped away from her. "I don't want your fucking pity. Go live your picture perfect life with your new vampire boyfriend."

"Inuyasha please, just let me explain!" Kikyo pleaded.

"No, we're done here." Inuyasha said as he turned away from her. "Goodbye Kikyo."

"INUYASHA!" Kikyo wailed as he shoved past the wall of vampires and disappeared into the night.

"Let him go. A monster like him will never understand what we are." Naraku said as Inuyasha lost himself to his beast and howled his broken heart to the moon.

"But I love him." Kikyo wept as she fell to her knees and cried. "I wanted to spend forever with him."

"Ah, but now you have us to keep you company." Naraku soothed as he cupped her cheek gently. "Is life with me and my clan so terrible?"

"No." Kikyo admitted as she enjoyed his tender caress. "Life with you has been wonderful. You've treated me like a queen."

"That's because you are my Sweet." Naraku purred as he lifted her into his arms. "One day soon you will realize what our bond means. I promise you when that day happens your love for that mutt will be the farthest thing from your mind."

"You really think so?" Kikyo asked as he leapt up to their balcony and pushed open their bedroom door.

"I know so." Naraku said as he gingerly laid her out on the bed. "Until that day comes, let me hold you like the precious jewel you are."

"As you wish." Kikyo sighed as Naraku laid atop her and kissed her sweetly on the mouth.

"You are mine Kikyo." Naraku purred as he began kissing down her neck while unfastening his pants. "Forever, you are mine."

"Yes!" Kikyo mewled as she welcomed her new lover into her body and soul.
