"You're going to have your own horse." Gina said.
"No crying Ms. Pope."
"I'm sad."
"Well be happy. Mom always says life isn't fair. You make the best of what you have and be thankful for your cereal. Some kids don't get anything for dinner. Thank you for giving me a lot of food and letting me stay in your home."
Amelia wrapped her arms around Olivia. "Can I still call you mom?"
"Yes."
"Mom are you going to send me presents for Christmas?"
"Yes."
"I hope I can see you again one day. You are my favorite teacher."
Olivia wiped her eyes and Gina took Amelia's hand. "She will be okay. I promise. I'll send you pictures every month and we can do video chats on holidays."
"Okay. Can you call me when your flight lands?"
"Yes."
"Thank you."
"Okay, say goodbye to your birthmom. We have to get to the airport."
"Goodbye mom."
This goodbye was harder than the first time Amelia left with Jake and Abby.
"No, I'm sorry. I can't do this. I'll give you the money for your travel expenses."
Gina looked at Fitz. This was a situation she dealt with on a regular basis and usually the guy would convince the woman to let go. Gina knew that Olivia loved Amelia, but it was hard to get over the traumatic event of giving birth alone.
"Olivia, are you sure you want Amelia to stay?"
"Yes. I can't lose her again."
"You have to get therapy for yourself and Amelia."
"I'm going to call a therapist."
"You can always call me if the emotions are overwhelming. I'll talk you through it."
"Thank you."
"Am I staying with you mom?"
"Yes."
"Cool, now I can have a cheeseburger and fries for dinner again."
Olivia leaned down and put Amelia on her hip. She was barely 40 pounds. Amelia wrapped her arms around her neck.
"Thank you for letting me live with you."
"I'm never letting you go."
