Chapter 46

Karma shoved the doors shut and caste a hasty spell against the wood and locks in the hopes to keep what lurked on the other side away from them. It wouldn't hold long. She knew it, but she wanted to believe that it would last for an eternity. It must last that long. It had to.

There was a crash and shattered glass hit the floor. Before Karma could spin around she felt something warm splash against her back followed by a large gurgle. When she turned she saw Riven finishing off a Demacian soldier with her broken weapon. Syndra summoned up her magic and hurled a bunch of orbs through the window to smash and obliterate any remains of the unit that had found them.

"We're surrounded and are cutoff from the others."

Karma took the first calming breath she'd taken in the past hour since they lost the beach. With Piltover using their air superiority to bomb them and keep any ranged fighters from partaking in combat, things had quickly gone very south for them. She wasn't sure how much longer they could keep this up. With so many of the Champions of the League that came in their defense gone, the reanimated corpses of their fallen friends, and the loss of Naruto, didn't know how much longer they'd last against them. Even with him, she feared he wouldn't be enough. The might of Demacia and Piltover was here. If they had anymore surprises for them, they were most likely going to be something a lot bigger than the Kyuubi that they somehow yanked from Naruto.

Riven moved away from the window and to Irelia's side as the young woman knelt down beside a desk and shut her eyes in the hopes of a quick solution to their problem. Riven put a hand on her shoulder that forced her eyes open. She glanced around the room, looking over the available combatants they had. A few mages, healers, Lux, Riven, Karma, Syndra, and herself wouldn't stand long against whatever they were about to throw at them. Faith or not, they were at the end of the rope. They all knew it. But no one wanted to admit it. None more so than Irelia.

"You think they'll back off if I drop the sky on them?" Syndra asked, sounding hopeful to the idea of such a thing.

"If you could do that, I'd kiss you. But I think that wouldn't work on the account that they have enough air power and mages to throw at whatever you send hurtling down here at them," Karma pointed out. She peeked around the corner of the window and up to the sky. The sky was on fire and ash fell like snow. "Do any of you know an illusion spells' to conceal us if we move?" The mages shook their heads. Karma bit her lower lip.

"We could always just run for it. My magic might not be true invisibility, but it could work enough to fool them. Even if it was only for a moment," Lux confessed. Irelia bit her thumb hard enough to draw blood as she looked in to the one eye of the blonde mage for any sign of doubt. She found lots, but decided that it was at best their only option.

"COME ON OUT OF THERE!"

The group quieted and ducked out of cover at the sound of Garen's voice ringing over the sounds of war. His metal armor clanked loudly as he stomped around. There was a loud crunch and then something not flesh being stabbed. Irelia moved to closer to the wall and peered through a small hole created by magics she didn't know and saw the mighty sword thrust deep into the soil. A few of his men stood behind him with prizes already draped over their backs and shoulders. Despite their desecration of their items, they were not the thing that Irelia felt her gaze be drawn to. Around Garen's waist was a familiar white tail that was worn by another man. And at Garen's feet lay a sobbing Ahri as blood pooled around her form.

"I GIVE YOU ONE CHANCE TO GIVE US WHAT WE WANT! OR THE VILE CREATURE DIES!"

Irelia turned away from the hole and looked to Karma. The woman's face was pale and she looked near tears. No one else dared to look at what they might have seen. Irelia put her head against the wall. How could you do this to us, Garen?

A loud explosion echoed from above them and several screams followed a moment later. Irelia looked through the peep hole and found Garen looking up in anger with his men running for cover. Everyone rushed outside while they were distracted and began attacking. Irelia charge Garen, but the man seemed prepared and drew his sword from the ground. He stomped down on Ahri's prone form.

A barrier of green energy rose around her but it did little stop his attack from getting through. Garen snarled and stomped again, crushing the barrier and breaking something on the poor girl. Irelia threw her four blades at him and he batted them away before tossing his sword straight at Irelia's heart. Riven shoved the Ionian woman down and batted the large sword away as she summoned the full strength of her broken blade to her aid.

Garen snarled and jumped back from Ahri as reinforcements began to arrive.

Irelia grabbed up Ahri and turned to leave when she saw what the explosion had been.

The Sky Temple, Syndra's home, had moved from its suspended spot and exploded.

A loud howl echoed from somewhere behind the rushing soldiers, catching them off guard as it overpowered their battle cry that had been louder than thunder. They turned and were burned to ash as the Demon Wolf, Konohamaru, rushed through the enemy's lines biting, clawing, and burning his enemies down with black flames that licked off his body.

The soldiers prepared magic and were taken out by a large boulder than came crashing out of a house as the enraged form of Gnar busted through the remains of the hole he'd made and clocked the first soldier in arms reach, turning him into paste against the earth. Gnar and Konohamaru released a powerful roar and dropped the soldiers with their war cry. As the enemy soldiers attempted to flee, the duo began carving a path of destruction through the enemy lines until they were beside Irelia and those defending Ionia.

Garen recalled his sword, his eyes narrowed on the two creatures as they stood protectively in front of their masters' friends.

Syndra floated down beside Konohamaru and blinked at his large form before something else caught her eye. None of the falling debris had come close landing in their area. It was directed.

"Let me make sure I understand your plan."

Kurama rolled his eyes as he continued his march through the Sky Temple, Naruto trailing by a few feet as he strapped weapons to his form.

"The plan is simple," Kurama growled. "We drop the Sky Temple on the enemy lines and while they're disorganized from the sudden arrival of it, we sneak in, rescue your friends, and leave the area. Or, failing that, kill as many people as we can before this whole thing resets and I have to have this conversation with you… AGAIN!"

Naruto squinted his eyes at Kurama's "Master" plan to get to where they needed to be. True to the point, this would work. It worked before in another timeline where they worked together. And it worked a few other times when neither were working together. Naruto himself had come up with the plan and never got as far as surviving the fall as in all other previous attempts by himself, he died. Likewise, with Kurama. Air superiority was to Piltover and they always had made sure that the sky belonged to them in this battle. The one time they got through was when they both worked together to drop it, but the end result had been everyone's death. Thus, they had reset.

The only reason they were doing this was because they couldn't get passed the enemy lines by forward assault or by sneaking. Flying was out of the question because neither could do that. They could fall with style, but not fly. And since they had regained a lot of memories from the previous realm where they had fought, they had time to thinking of better plans then the original one, which had been go to the front lines and fight till you drop. So, if they could beat them or sneak through them, the only other option was to go over them. And that involved that temple.

That Naruto loved.

That was Syndra's home.

That they were now going to drop on the unsuspecting citizens and soldiers.

Yeah, Naruto really liked this plan.

Kurama shoved open a large pair of wood doors and strolled in. The wolf, Konohamaru, turned to greet them and rushed to their side with Gnar not far behind. At the center of the room were three pillars of purple magics that looked like fire. Kurama waved a hand in front of it and the image of his hand remained when he pulled it back. "Her magics never cease to amaze me."

"Time Dilation magics are taboo, but when your Syndra or Zed, they're just words that mean, "You're too stupid to know how to use," and thus that's how they became forbidden." Naruto explained to him with his arms crossed. "I'm going to catch hell if this works."

"If this works, she won't care. And neither will anyone else when a magically hovering temple with ten million pounds of stone and earth come crashing down to save them." Kurama took a step back and glanced at the blond. "I trust you know how to disable it?" Naruto held up his signature Rasengan and the fox turned human grinned. "Two minutes. Start counting, Konohamaru. When he barks, you smash them, Brat. Understand?"

"Since when can you count?" Naruto asked Konohamaru. The wolf exploded into a pillar of black flames before being as tall as a polar bear. His eyes flashed bright gold and a yellowish light was emitted from his mouth. Naruto raised a brow at the form and strange ability before turning to see Kurama's tails disappear around a corner. Right, two minutes to drop this thing. Hopefully he knows how to aim it this time.

Kurama rushed to the far side of the temple while gathering the energy required to throw the temple towards its intended target. All the while his mind was plagued with the doubts of true freedom. Unlike any of the others that had been infected by this curse, he was the one to hold the greatest strain of it. This time loop created by would-be gods was his only reason for working with the Uzumaki brat. He wanted true freedom. Freedom from this cursed life at the hands of a monster who used him wasn't freedom. Both had promised him freedom from his past life. A chance to be free from the bindings of the mortal who he lay prisoned to. How he could he pass up such a chance?

But as the resets grew more in number and the outcomes became blurred, he soon realized that despite the different wordings they used, they all equated to the same thing for him that all other humans had done before him: Submit to me.

All the attempts at freedom showed him the one true path to it wasn't in either would-be god. No. It lied in the hands of Uzumaki. The choice was his in the end and it angered him so. How did this brat that hated him, that had used his power without asking, without any remorse for what he wanted, gained the right to give him the freedom he wanted? But it if led to a chance for freedom, he'd take it. This hell needed to end.

Kurama stopped at the back of the tower that overlooked a large forest. It was burning. He shut his eyes and for a moment felt the pull of the Dreamer and True Kohaku at the back of his mind. He snorted and pushed them from his mind as he let the staff hover in front of him. A bright red orb formed at the center of the weapon that shone brightly. The rings at the end of it jingled loudly before they quieted and came to rest. He dug his feet in, gritted his teeth, and went through the motion of punching the back of the hovering staff. A pillar of red light erupted outwards and washed over the sky. There was no roar of the mighty blast. There was only stillness and silence.

The temple shuddered and moved as gravity finally took hold of the structure.

Kurama released his attack and brought his hands together as if to pray. The staff spun slowly like a clock and split into four more. His tails twitched and each staff responded as they flew away from his form and stabbed into the side of the floating mountain. At the center of each staff a small red orb appeared. Hand outstretched, Kurama closed his eyes and snapped it open, igniting each attack to move the island as it began to tilt and fall towards the earth below. The nine-tailed fox took a deep breath before his eyes snapped open and he outstretched his tails to their fullest before went through the motion of punching the sky.

The ground cracked beneath his feet and the entire temple surged forwards towards their location as Naruto arrived with the Konohamaru and Gnar.

Kurama summoned his staff together and back to his hand as he moved to the side of his former warden. "You know what happens when we get down there, yes?" Naruto was silent. "Nothing you do will stop it from happening. There is no saving her. This is war, Brat. People will die. She is just one of many to fall."

Naruto extended Zed's blade as he closed his eyes. "Nothing is written in stone. And you know that what we face can't die."

"Nothing has ever lived that will not die." He suddenly smiled and looked to the rushing ground that was fast approaching. Piltover crafts rushed to evade them. Some were snagged by falling debris. Others escaped but a few more hit the side of the falling temple.

Naruto grimaced as the corpse of Corki was thrown into the trees from his craft hitting the debris and forcing him to eject. Kurama tapped his staff to the ground and Konohamaru released a powerful howl before exploding into a pillar of black flames and vanishing from sight. Naruto teleported off the island with Gnar in hand while Kurama leapt into the air and tossed a red orb into temple.

Let's put an end to this time loop which has no end in sight!

The Sky Temple exploded and rained down hot death on the forces below.

Kurama landed on the ruins of a small shack and snarled at the approaching soldiers. Weapons drawn; they gave a battle-cry as they rushed his location. The Kyuubi raised a hand and pointed at the approaching soldiers. A red orb sparked to life and a grin creeped on his face as it pulsed and grew to the size of a human head before shrinking and spraying forward in a violent arc of crimson energy that washed over all the soldiers. The earth erupted into flames in the wake of the attack and Kurama licked his lips as the massive form of Cho 'Gath came rushing through the flames, mouth open to gobble him up.

Staff floating above his head, Kurama spread his arms wide as if he were to greet the massive Void Born in a hug. When he was upon him, the Bijuu disappeared in a swirl of flames and appeared above the massive creature with his staff breaking into three parts and surged forward. One stabbed into its eye and the other two pierced his feet to the molten earth, pinning him in place. Kurama gently landed down on the snout of the creature and smiled as he put his hand on the forehead of the beast.

"I'm going to enjoy this far more than I should," he said to him as red electricity began to build up over his arm. Cho 'Gath didn't scream. He didn't do anything. But after a short moment of silence, he did finally scream as his skin peeled back from the heat and his body began to shrivel up until it fell over dead, leaving the uncaring Kyuubi to hover in the air for a moment longer. He finally touched the ground and summoned back his staff together to continue his march towards the city where the rest of the fighting was taking place.

Naruto didn't turn around. He kept his gaze locked on the stumbling form of Garen and Darius. Both men were confused, wounded, and now tired as their bodies threatened to give out from all the fighting, they had done prior to the Sky Temple falling out of the sky. The blond was on top of them before either of them could grasp how bad things were. He elbowed Garen in the chest, spun around and round-house kicked Darius in the head.

The two skidded backwards a few paces and regained their bearings in time to block Naruto's neck attack with their respective weapons. Darius shoved him backwards and Garen rushed forward, sword raised above his head for a killing blow. Naruto retracted his weapon and brought both hands up and caught the sword at its sides and kicked the Demacian in the ribs before throwing the sword off to the side when his grip loosened and then jumped back to avoid a powerful swing from Darius's axe.

A howl sounded and Konohamaru lunged forward, taking up his masters' place and slamming Darius to the ground. He gnawed on his throat, but Darius's armored prevented much of the damage. Clawing and snapping at what little flesh he could get, Konohamaru eventually combusted in to dark flames, melting most of the armored from the Hand of Noxus before he gave a powerful kick to the get the Demon Wolf off him. As soon as he was back to his feet, Naruto appeared and kicked him squire in the chest to drive him into a small building that fell on him. Garen soon followed and Naruto stared into the darkness for a moment before his attention was driven to the corpse that now lay off to the side.

Ahri's lifeless body lay sprawled across the land, a look of horror etched on her face and a large stab wound through her chest.

"Naruto… Is it really… you?"

The blond shut his eyes and slowly turned to face Syndra as the woman he loved floated down behind him. Hand to her heart, tears formed in her eyes when she saw him grieving eyes. Garen appeared before them, sword raised for a finishing strike, and gave a cry of victory. Naruto reached out before the sword was fully raised and touched Garen's chest, freezing him on the spot. The battlefield became quiet and cold. Power surged from the blond and into Garen. He felt alive! He was alive with power. Real power. Not his physical human power. Real, tangible power.

"Die!" Garen felt alive as he threw a punch for the head of the blond.

"No." Naruto spoke so softly, yet his words were louder than thunder with weight enough to crush a mountain. Garen's smile fell and his eyes widened in sudden horror. He felt nothing. No pain. No warmth. He looked down and saw the wound. A hole the size of a fist had been drilled into his chest. When he looked to the blood-soaked hand, he saw a pulsing mass of red. All his strength gave out as he tentatively reached for it. For his heart. The heart pulsed one last time before Naruto crushed it. Garen felt it. His entire body convulsed and fell to the ground. Barely containing his rage, Naruto lowered his hand and formed a Rasengan that swallowed Garen whole. "No one will morn you. Remember you. Or even bury you." The jutsu shredded the body, leaving nothing behind but a few splatters of blood.

The sound of metal clanking together forced the two to turn, spying Darius on a slow approach for them. Syndra summoned her power, but a gentle touch from Naruto stayed her power.

"Accepting your defeat, are we?"

Naruto shook his head and calmly motioned behind him. The Hand of Noxus snorted as he continued his approach only to stop when he felt a wave of power behind him and a rushing wind as something sailed beside him, landing twenty feet away. A charred corpse rolled over and revealed the burnt head of Cho' Gath. Slowly, Darius turned and found himself staring up at a nine-tailed humanoid fox. With a staff in one hand, he smiled down upon him, tapping it gently on the earth and raising stones as tall as the Hand of Noxus himself. Crushing power brought him to his knees and when he looked back upon his foe, Naruto's words echoed across the land, the stars, and the heavens.

"You have wronged us, Darius. I'm putting an end to this. Here and now."

"What makes you think you have the power to do so?" He rose to his feet, shaky as they were, and hefted his axe above his head.

"Because, compared to your false lord, we have the Shinobi no Kami on our side."

"What the hell is a Kami?" Darius snarled.

Kurama put a hand in front of Darius's face, an evil smirk tugging at the corners of his lips. "It means "God". Now bow!" A tiny red orb formed in his hand and expanded into a large cone and turbulent dark charka, evaporating Darius on the spot. Lowering his hand, Kurama breathed a sigh of relief and tapped his staff twice. "And repressed~."
