Hey everyone! I hope you are all doing well and staying safe. Guessing who hasn't written anything in the past week...? Me so that is my main focus for this week. I really do love writing and it's a shame that I haven't done as much of it as I know I can do. I've also been having a declutter in my room. That's always good isn't it? Anyway I'm hoping to get my Christmas Tree up this month... little early but it seems a lot of people are getting them up as well. I'm currently listening to the Junior Eurovision album and the Christmas album from Maghan Trainor so hopefully that'll help with the writing. Enjoy the update!
Stay safe.
Lots of love,
LM xx
Hidden Child-Part 83:
The one thing Lucius and Narcissa had agreed on was that Lyra's training had to carry on as soon as her fever was under control and she had resisted the training but soon changed her mind after learning that the training was instead of the schoolwork that she was missing. It had taken a few days but her fever came down but her shields weren't gaining strength. Dumbledore didn't seem to be concerned about that as he was keeping the shields up on the Hospital Wing until Lyra was able to control hers herself once more.
The day after Lyra had lost her fever and was stable Dumbledore, along with Lucius and Narcissa, she was assessed to see how much of her memory she was regaining. Whilst the signs were encouraging the Headmaster was reluctant to admit that Lyra was fully regaining her memory.
"It is rare to see someone regain their memories after being hit by a memory spell but, if it wasn't Bellatrix, then there is every possibility that Lyra will regain at least 75% of her memories," Dumbledore said to the parents as Lyra was asleep after a hard day of assessments and training.
"But if she is regaining her memories then surely that will change everything…" Narcissa said as she watched her daughter sleeping, "I mean her training… everything," she said before looking at her husband, "I know you don't want her remembering the Death Eaters around but we have to face the facts that she may well remember that. We will have to answer any questions that she may well have," she said, squeezing his hand softly.
"I just don't want her remembering that full stop," Lucius said before he went over to the window and looked out over the grounds, causing extra worry for Narcissa as her husband and daughter were both fragile.
The next day and Narcissa worked with Lyra and began to test her memory on spells and was certain that she was beginning to remember more spells then she had done before. It was a relief but it would also create problems as Lyra's training would need to be altered again as she was remembering spells that were down on her to learn list.
That night Lucius and Narcissa went back to Malfoy Manor with Helena watching over Lyra and were soon sat with coffee and their parents.
"So Dumbledore thinks that it wasn't really Bellatrix who tries to wipe Lyra's memories?" Priscilla asked.
"Yes," Lucius replied, "which makes sense. Bellatrix is a master duellist and she wouldn't miss. She's never missed a spell as far as I know."
"I've been testing Lyra and her training will need to be adjusted as she's remembering spell and hexes that she hasn't been taught yet," Narcissa said, "I don't understand how it's possible but Lyra is regaining some spells that she didn't know before this all started."
"So we will now need to look through her training and rearrange it again so we can focus on what she doesn't know," Abraxas said, "I want to teach her some of my own spells that Bellatrix doesn't know about."
"No father. You aren't strong enough," Lucius instantly said as he looked at his father.
"Oh Lucius. She… and I… will be using one of you as a training dummy," Abraxas smirked as he looked at his son, "I would not dream of doing anything that makes me even weaker than I am getting. Lyra knows, Draco knows. I need to spend as much time as I can with them and help Lyra as much as I can before my time is over. That includes preparing them for the time when I am no longer here for them, especially Lyra. She's the one who so much depends on and I need to help her as much as I can whilst I'm here."
Lucius nodded and sighed, knowing that he couldn't argue with his father once his mind was made up. Afterall it was through his father that his own stubbornness came from. His mother had a streak of it as well but his father was far worse than his mother was.
It was long into the night before Lyra's training plan was revised based on Narcissa's assessments of her daughter's spell knowledge. Lucius and Narcissa spoke about it all as they laid in bed that night and wondered what the future held for Lyra now some of her memories appeared to be returning.
A couple of days after the timetable was revised and Astoria was the first to spot Lyra at the House Table and she rushed over to her, giving her a big hug.
"Hey Tori," Lyra said as she looked at the slightly older girl as she sat down beside her and smiled.
"We didn't realise that you were coming back today," Draco said as he sat down opposite the two and he watched Astoria with his sister. It was a sight that tugged at his heart, "how are your shields?" he said softly so nobody else could hear.
"Low still," Lyra sighed, "the Headmaster has a shield on me that will stop memories and peoples' thoughts invading my brain that he has to renew every day for now but it'll be OK. They just suffered a lot with everything that was going on and they will be raised eventually. It'll just take some time," she said before Daphne, Jasmine and Zenon joined them.
"So is it true?" Jasmine asked, "are your memories coming back?"
"It appears they are but how much I will actually remember is anyone's guess. Dumbledore seems to think around 75% will come back but we just have to wait and see if he is correct or not. I really hope he is as training won't be so hard on me then but there are still things that I don't know and I will have to learn."
Silence then fell as the group began to eat their breakfast and Lyra looked up at the Staff Table and could see Professors Dumbledore, Snape and McGonagall in a conversation, no doubt about her. She looked down at her plate and began to eat again, wondering if she would have an easier life or if she'd be the talk of the school again.
