Chapter 61: Jungle's Anger

''The first agent I see is dead, plain and simple," Alya growled, the three walking through the forest outside San Francisco.

Alya, Red Huntress, and Aqualad were going to the stone pedestal that transports them to the Eternal Spring. They knew that only Alya or a forest nymph could open it, but were not taking any chances.

"I just hope we get there before any of those psychos do," Valerie says.

"It is helpful that they can not enter the spring without you, my friend," Kaldur told Alya.

"It won't matter if they destroy that pedestal," Alya said.

"What do you mean," Kaldur asked.

"That stone pedestal is the only way to get to the spring," Alya answered. "There is no other way. If it is destroyed, then not even the gods themselves could reopen the path. The spring would be lost forever."

"Let's hope it doesn't come to that," Valerie said.

"Um... Kaldur," Alya says. "There's something you might need to know about the trident before we go into a full-on final battle."

Holding out his hand, Aqualad made the trident appear in his hand.

"What do you mean," he asked the animal witch.

"Do you know the original myth of the trident," Alya asked, Aqualad shook his head. ''Poseidon's Trident has the power over the sea. It makes tsunamis and waves, along with seafoam. It can calm the water or make it roar. If Poseidon strikes the Earth with his trident an earthquake will happen. The man or boy who is chosen to control the trident, is one with the blood of the Gods.''

"Alya, even i'm a little lost at this point, and I spend a lot of time with magic users," Valerie crossed her arms.

"Kaldur, are you aware of any sea god blood in your line," Alya asked the Atlantean. "The only ones that can use the trident are those of godly blood. Related to Poseidon, Triton, Amphitrite, Triton, Oceanus, or any other deity of the sea, really."

"I am not aware of any of the gods in my family," Kaldur told her. "Though, I've never been close to any one of my family tree."

"Aren't all Atlantean's related to the gods," Valerie asked Alya. "I always thought Atlantis was filled with those born from one of the ocean gods or goddesses."

"Not exactly," Alya says. "When Oceanus sank Atlantis during the first Titan War, it changed the physiology of the citizens. They became merpeople, or just humans with gills. Every Atlantean is descended from them, unless they are a sea deity demigod. And there are about thirty-three of them, including the sirens and naiads. We've met your father, what about your mother?"

"While I was undercover with the Light, my father liked to mention a woman names Thalassa," Kaldur remembered. "He always said she was the only one he ever truly loved."

"Thalassa," Alya wondered. "That's the Greeks titaness of the ocean. Wow!"

"I've met demigods, but you're the first demi-titan I've ever met," Valerie smirked.

Aqualad was taken back. Neither Alya nor Siren had told him about the trident when he first used it, nor had he ever made the connection of the name of the person Black Manta kept talking about. He always did feel right around Siren. And it made sense now, as titans and sirens were both born through Greek mythology.

They were about to continue the conversation, but they heard someone coming. A lot of someones to be exact.

"I wish it was more than just the three of us," Valerie says, the hoverboard forming under her feet. "Sounds like we're outnumbered."

"That's why you two have me," Alya smirked. "I have friends in wild places."

Before they could even ask, she took off. Following her, they all ended up at the stone pedestal. Alya's pendant was slightly glowing, but went unnoticed. She took point at the pedestal, facing the trees. Huntress and Aqualad also took points. They were like the three points of a triangle. Soon enough, Guys In White agents could be seen as they came toward them.

"Only three of you," one agent taunted. "What, did your precious Justice League no longer want to be around a bunch of monsters."

"Did they leave you all alone," another agent teased.

"Who said anything about alone," Alya evilly grinned, her eyes turning the same blue as her animal spirits.

In a flash of movements, the agents all started screaming. Aqualad and Huntress looked past the front row and their eyes widened. Animals were coming out of the woodworks and attacking the agents. Birds, ranging from bluebirds and robins to hawks and falcons, were pecking and clawing at them from the air. Rabbits and foxes used their small size to trip them as they tried to run. A few wolves and bears had come and were in full-on predator mode, using their claws and teeth to dig into them. Huntress could even swear she saw a deer kick one agent in the head with its back hooves.

She started using her armor's hidden camera to take pictures, itching to show them to Phantom.

"I love being an animal witch," Alya smirked.

"I want in on the fun," Valerie says, taking off in her hoverboard.

She started flying over the heads of the agents. She zipped over them in a straight line, firing her ghost dart thrower. The small, pink, laser-like darts showered over the agents in her line of fire. Quite a good few fell unconscious.

Another group of agents came rushing up. A wave of water came out of nowhere, knocking them off their feet. When they tried to get up, four streams of water came and wrapped around them. They were all lifted into the air. Aqualad stood there, the trident being where the streams had come from.

"I may be slightly confused at the moment, but I will have to put it on the back burner for now," he was thinking. "I will do anything for my friends."

He waved the trident like a baseball bat, sending the group flying. A blur sped past him, almost knocking him down. When he looked up, someone was plowing through the agents like nobody's business. There was a loud roar of a cheetah. Alya had a cheetah spirit with her as she clawed her way through her attackers.

"Who else wants a piece of me," she screamed. "Come and get me, you sons of the Underworld!"

More agents aimed their guns at her. Blue energy formed into a gorilla spirit around the animal witch. She charged them with her ape strength. Jumping up, she sailed over the blasts that had been aimed at her. Falling right at the center of the group. The earth shook beneath her as the crash sent the agents in different directions.

"Which one of you waste of mortal blood is next," Alya yelled.

Summoning a rhino spirit, she charged off. Sending more of the assault team flying as she did.

"Dang, that is one angry mystic," Valerie says, them punching an agent in the face as he tried to attack her from behind.

Hearing clicks from behind her, she turned around with her hoverboard. As a line of agents fired at her, she activated a blue energy shield. It formed in front of her like a half-sphere shield. The anti-magic blasts bounced off the shield as if they were rubber balls. She dived at them. Her hoverboard shot out pink energy rings. On contact with the ground and agents, they exploded.

"HUNTRESS," Kaldur yelled.

Red Huntress immediately turned around, gasping as she saw a total of nearly a dozen grenades coming her way. But before they could do her in, a giant snake formed in front of her. To her surprise, it was made out of water. The aqua snake ate the grenades. With a slash of its water tail, it sent the, right back to where they came from. Agents scattered as the explosives blew up around them.

Looking down, Huntress saw Aqualad with the trident. She floated down to meet him.

"You're getting pretty handy with that thing, aren't you," she snickered.

"I may not know much about how I can use it, but I'll use it as much as I possibly can," Kaldur told her.

"You may not know how, but that water snake is still very impressive," Valerie said. "Where's Alya disappeared to, anyway?"

They suddenly heard a giant elephant toot.

"Found her," Valerie said.

"Do you really think that any of the mystics will kill them," Kaldur asked her, as Red Huntress did know them for a lot longer than the other teen heroes did.

"I think that they will do anything to protect each other and their world, and they will be in the right when they do," Valerie says. "Caitlin's sister was just one of many mystics or ghosts that have fallen victim to humans, yet nothing has ever happened to the human that committed the crime."

"You're human too, you know," Kaldur reminded her.

"I'm an exception," Valerie smirked.

Over by the pedestal, ten agents approached it. Some of them started reaching for grenades to destroy it. There was a small growl, like a lion getting ready to pounce. Alya came out of nowhere.

"Get out of our way, freak," one agent ordered.

"Actually, that's what I was going to tell you," Alya responded.

"We have something to take care of," another agent said.

Alya gave them a glare so cold that you!d have thought she and Alain had switched places.

"If you call destroying sacred grounds 'something to take care of," Alya growled. "The Eternal Spring is under my protection."

"Kill the freak," a third agent ordered.

Alya immediately touched the amulet around her neck. Blue spirit energy swirled around her. Her eyes shined a deadly blue. She had let loose a more serious take on her powers. In front of her were six animal spirits. A rhino, an elephant, a panther, a lion, a bear, and a wolf. Her six toughest spirits.

"Um... Kaldur," Valerie nervously called.

Before the agents could even bat an eye, the wild spirits attacked them. The elephant, rhino, and bear sent a few agents flying as they charged. The wolf and panther pounced on two others. Last, the lion chased after the ones that tried to run.

Alya didn't even blink when the agents started screaming as her spirits started tearing them to shreds. As the rest of their attackers saw this, they all bolted. The real animals went after them.

"Oh my gods," Kaldur and Valerie gasped.

Alya turned to the two as her spirits disappeared. Her eyes were still glowing.

"You saw what my kind can do," she stated simply. "Are you two sure you want to continue fighting with us?"

The team members shared a look, then walked to Alya.

"Can't get rid of us that easily, Dryas," Valerie smirked, while using Alya's hero name.

*****Watchtower*****

The Justice League watch in horror as their satellite images picked up their battle. They saw what Alya did to the agents and how Aqualad and Red Huntress seemed okay with it.

"We're too late," Canary gasped. "One of them's already done it."

"If this keeps up, we will have to put a stop to them," John Stewart said. "All of them."

Batman hardened a glare at the Green Lantern. How can he even think that when three of them are his own sons. The rest of the league needed to get it through their thick heads that the mystics are only doing this because they feel the league failed them. He also knew that they needed to know how the mystics have different laws and customs that make it that killing someone that hurt you is to restore honor and take revenge.

"And they say i'm the stubborn one," Batman thought, rolling his eyes and glaring at them from under his cowl.

(AN: Hello, fellow lovers of fanfictions. I have started a pa-treon account for everyone that wishes to take a more active role in future stories and character designs. I will be posting polls and story summaries to all my stories that I will be posting in the future. For Wattpad, Archive of Our Own, and here. I have stories for Harry Potter, Danny Phantom, Young Justice, and Miraculous Ladybug. For those that can not afford or just do not want to pay, I am not asking or forcing. I just am trying to earn some in order to help my dad. I have been unable to get a job and he is currently in quarantine after being tested positive for the virus. He is a single father, so I am only trying to ease his burden by gaining some form of income. I can not be paid for fanfiction, so I will not be posting any of my actual stories on my pa-treon. My first poll is already posted for my first full story for Miraculous Ladybug instead of just a one-shot. It will be a salt story.

Thank you to everyone that becomes a pa-treon. My pa-treon: whitewolf123)
