September 15

This afternoon Inuyasha and I went on a date to our favorite cafe. It's a short walk from home and it's a nice little place that serves really good tea. On the way back, I had been folding my scarf and put it down for a moment to fix my sandal. It had been a little chilly when we went out so I was wearing a red scarf but now that it was getting warmer I had taken it off. All of a sudden, my scarf blew away.

"Oh great," I said irritated.

"Go get it, I'll wait for you," Inuyasha said.

"'Kay, I'll be right back." I ran off to get her scarf.

I grabbed the scarf and as I was coming back, a monk walked past and glanced at Inuyasha.

"You there, demon!" the monk said coming towards him.

Inuyasha looked at him. "Yes?"

"Stay out of our village! Don't come here to torment our people!"

"What are you talking about? Why would I do that?" Inuyasha said. "I don't have any problems with your stupid human village."

"You can't fool me. Be gone you evil demon!" the man swung his staff at him.

Inuyasha jumped out the way. "Calm down, geez."

"Since you won't listen, you'll suffer."

He threw something on the ground and smoke shot out of it. The smell was terrible and Inuyasha covered his nose but that wasn't enough. "What the hell is this?!" He backed away coughing and then tripped over a rock and fell.

"It's demon repellant!" The man raised a knife. "I won't have a demon coming here tormenting our good people."

I didn't know what was going on but I immediately went into defense mode. No one was going to hurt my husband without answering to me.

My arrow flew through the air and pinned the man to a tree by his kimono. He looked around for where it came from and found me holding my bow and arrow and walking towards him.

"Good priestess, don't hurt me. He's the demon!"

I glared at him. "That demon is my husband!" I exclaimed. "He would never hurt anyone in your village. Don't you dare try to hurt him again or I'll hurt you!"

"Sorry ma'am, I apologize. I had no idea you were wed to that man."

I pulled the arrow out of his clothes. "Even if I wasn't, Inuyasha wasn't hurting anyone and he never would. He's not like other demons."

The man glanced at Inuyasha. "Oh yes, I see now that he is a mere half-demon."

I rolled her eyes. This man just didn't understand. Instead, I went over to Inuyasha who was still on the ground. I bent down next to him. "Baby, are you okay?"

He groaned. "No."

I ran her hand up and down his back. "Are you hurt?"

"My face hurts…and I can't see."

I rolled him over and became very worried when I found that his closed eyes were red and swollen. "Maybe we should go home."

"What part of I can't see don't you get?"

"Fine then, we'll stay here if that's what you want. But don't expect me to make your eyes feel any better."

Inuyasha mumbled something about how annoying I was and then I plucked him in the ear. "Ow! That hurt!"

"Then stop being so rude!"

He turned away from me and we were silent for a moment. "I'm sorry," he said.

I kissed his nose. "It's okay. Do you feel any better?"

"Yeah, it doesn't burn as much anymore."

"Good."

We sat there for another ten minutes then Inuyasha sat up. "Thank god, I was starting to think I'd be blind forever."

"Your vision is back?"

"A little bit. Still blurry but I can see enough to get around."

"Good, let's go home and rest."

He stood up but stumbled a bit because he still felt dizzy.

Luckily I caught him before he could fall. "I'm sure we can find something at home to make you feel a bit better."

Once they got back to their village we found Miroku and Sango outside with their kids hanging up the laundry and decided to stop by. Miroku saw how red and swollen Inuyasha's eyes were. "What the heck happened to you?"

Inuyasha sat down. "Stupid people happened."

"Did you get pepper-sprayed or something?"

Inuyasha shook his head. "Nah, I've been pepper-sprayed. It doesn't work on me; it only feels like warm water."

"Then what happened?"

"Some monk used demon repellant on him," I explained.

"Ouch," Sango said. Being a demon slayer she knew exactly what demon repellant was and how it affected demons and half-demons. She bent down next to him with a wet rag and put it over one of his eyes. "Here, this should make the swelling go down. I think I have some antidote inside too."

"Thanks."

Suddenly Shippo bounced over. "Hi, guys!"

"Hi Shippo," Kagome said.

Shippo sat on Inuyasha's knee and examined his red watery eyes and the water dripping from the cloth Sango gave him. "Are you crying?"

Inuyasha glared at him. "No, I'm not crying!"

"Someone used demon repellant on him," Miroku said.

"What's that?"

"It's a smoke used to temporarily blind demons and disorient them. It makes them weak so they become easy targets," Sango said.

"Then why did it work on Inuyasha? He's not a demon," Shippo said.

That set Inuyasha off. He stood up and kicked Shippo as hard as he could sending him flying through the trees.

Normally I would have scolded him, but Shippo kind of deserved that.
