Chapter 83 – The Angelic Student Council
Amitie's POV
MEANWHILE…
"Gee…I wonder what's up with Arle." Ally said after we had seen Arle run after that mysterious girl.
"You think she knows her?" Lidelle asked.
"Well, she did say her name. Uh…Lala, was it?"
"That's what I heard." Peruvis said.
"*moan* I'm worried…I'm gonna see if I can catch up." I said as I sat up from my seat.
"Wait, Ami." Ayumi said. "From the looks of it, it seems really personal to not only Arle but that girl as well. I think it's best to leave them alone for a while."
Ayumi was right…but at the same time, Arle is a special friend of mine. Seeing her with that sad face again reminded me of that fight we had the day after she came out of that mirror. One of the most depressing moments to live through, honestly.
But even I can't ignore the fact that Arle has been living better since then. So, maybe…if that girl is as depressed as Chu said…then maybe it is best that Arle went alone on this one.
"Yeah…you're right, Ayumi."
"And besides. It'll probably be boring as hell to watch, anyway."
"G-Geez, Ayumi! You could've kept that to yourself, you know!"
"Huh? W-Wait, Ami! I-I didn't say that!"
"What? Then who…"
"Meow…Meow…"
"H-Hey. Akaineko, calm down. It's not gonna do anything." Chetta said to her "cat".
"What's wrong with him?" Chu asked.
"He senses something supernatural again. This time it appears to be…"
"Meow…*hiss* *hiss* Meow…"
"…Right next to you, Ringo."
"*sigh* Ah, geez." Ringo responded with a facepalm.
"You know what it is?" Peruvis asked her.
"Yeah. But it's not a what. It's a who."
"Who?" We asked.
"Seriously, Ecolo! Quit spying on me!"
"Aw, geez. You're getting way too good at this, Ringie." A boy wearing a black hoodie that partly covered his light-turquoise hair then just appeared out of nowhere next to Ringo. He was kinda tall…and drooling.
Ew. Why is he drooling?
"And quit calling me Ringie!" Ringo yelled.
"You know I can't do that, Ringie~. *giggle*"
"You just enjoy messing with me all the time, do you?"
"Not all the time. Just whenever I'm bored."
"Which is all the time."
"Pretty much. *giggle*"
"*sigh* Damn nuisance…" Ringo mumbled to herself.
Sounds like Ringo doesn't like this guy all that much…
"Hi, Ecolo." Rafisol said.
"Hello, Rafisol. Having fun?"
Rafisol replied with a simple nod.
"Well, that's nice. *giggle*"
"Uh…Ringo. Who is this guy?" Lidelle asked.
"And how do you know him, Sis?" Ally asked Rafisol.
"Well, to answer the first question, This is Ecolo. Maguro and I have known him for about two years now. Due to an experiment made by our friend Risukuma that went horribly wrong, it brought Ecolo here through dimensional warping. And now he's stuck here."
"Wow…" We all said.
"As for the second question, Feli and Rafisol met him this morning."
"Along with that other girl." Maguro added.
"Oh, yeah. Who was that girl anyway?" Ringo asked Ecolo.
"Well…"
"Ecolo!"
We now a girl that looked like an angel like Harpy, but had better wings than her. She had long red hair and was wearing a different school uniform from the rest of us girls. She was also floating.
Geez, why do so many people float nowadays?
"Floré…how did you know I was here?"
"Call it a lucky guess. I thought I told you to stay in the office."
"But Floré! It's so boring in there! There's nothing for me to do!"
"That's the point, Ecolo."
"Aw…you're mean. You won't even let me play with Ringo."
"Ringo?"
"Yep. This girl right here. We know each other."
"What?" The girl then took a quick look at Ringo. "Oh yeah, I remember you. You and your friends couldn't get to your classroom this morning. You and Ecolo seriously know each other?"
"Yeah, we do. In fact, I'm…kinda the reason why he's here." Ringo said.
"Huh?"
"Well, you see…our friend Risukuma…"
"Okay, I get it now. Should've known it was Risukuma."
"Wait, you know him?"
"Know him? I deal with him on a daily basis because of the multiple explosions he causes. We had to fix the science room roof 19 times last year."
"Sounds like Ris to me." Maguro said.
"Yep. It does." Ringo added.
The angel girl went silent for a bit while staring at every last one of us with her hand on her chin.
"You know, now that I think about it…are ALL of you able to see Ecolo?"
"Yeah…"
"I can see him perfectly."
"Pretty much."
These were just some of the answers we gave her.
"Really? Normally, it was just me and the members of the Student Council. Ecolo, what did you do?"
"What? I didn't do anything…yet."
"You didn't even try to hide that!"
"What can I say? Seeing you exasperated is funny.*giggle*"
"Por que pequeno..."
Huh? Wait, what language was that?
"Ugh. Whatever. If it wasn't you for once, then…wait, what's that?!" The girl then pointed to my hat.
"Uh…it's just my hat. Why?" I asked.
"That power I'm feeling…I need you to come with me."
"Huh?" I was confused.
"Woah, woah, woah. And just where are you taking her?" Raffi asked.
"I need to look at that hat. I'll explain later. Just come on, you."
"Hold, it! First of all, she has a damn name! Try using it! And second, who the hell do you think you are telling people what to do?! You're no better than us, you damn pleb!"
"Excuse me?! You referring to me as a pleb?! You've got some nerve, you spoiled rich brat!"
"Spoiled rich brat?! Oh, that's it! You've just said your final words, Angel Girl!" Raffi stood up and rolled her sleeve back while making a tight fist with her right hand.
"Bring it, Rich Girl!" The angel girl did the same thing."I may be the Student Council President, but that won't stop me from kicking your ass!"
At this point, both were ready for a fight. And so was the entire cafeteria as they were all watching and chanting "Fight!". I couldn't have my girlfriend get into a fight on the first day of school. She'll get a bad reputation. I had to do something, and fast.
"W-WAIT!" I shouted as I got in between the two girls. "I-If it's that important, then I'll go with you."
"Wh-What?! Ami!" Raffi complained.
"Aw, man. I wanted to see them fight." Ecolo whined.
"Shut up, Ecolo." Ringo scolded him.
"Well…glad you made things easier." The angel said.
"Ami, you can't be serious! You're really going to go with this thing?!" Raffi asked.
"This thing?!"
"Raffi, if she's sensing power from it, then it's best to say that she knows about the Puyo Hats. She could even tell us stuff that not even Zoh knows. Wouldn't that be for the best?"
…
…
…
"W-Well…y-yeah, it could." Raffi said after thinking about it.
"Then just please let me do this? Please? You can even come with me."
"Uh…"
"Pwease?" I begged while hugging her.
"Damnit, Lidelle! Did you teach Ami the "Pwease" tactic?!"
"Hey, it works. So, why shouldn't I? Lidelle said.
"*sigh* Fine. I give."
"Yay! Thanks, Raffi!" I cheered while also giving her a kiss on her cheek. "Alright, we're ready to go, uh…hey wait. What IS your name?"
"Oh, right. I deeply apologize. I got caught up with other stuff that I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Floré Hoshinio. And I'm the president of the student council."
"Woohoo." Raffi said sarcastically.
"Oh. And I suppose yours is better than mine?"
"Of course, it is. I'm Raffina Fielding. The richest girl in all of Primp Town. Oh, La-Ti-Da!"
Haven't heard that in a while…
"Pfft! You live in Primp?! What, did you just HAVE to look down on other people like they're bugs?! You really are a spoiled rich brat!"
"You wanna try saying that again, you damn goose wannabe?" Raffina was getting angry.
"I can say it all day, you snooty pink pleb!" And now Floré was getting angry.
"Grrrr…"
"Grrrr…"
Both looked like they were ready to start fighting again. This time, though, the other students in the cafeteria lost interest and went back to eating. Only our group continued to stare.
"Good luck, Amitie." Lidelle said to me.
"Thanks, Lidelle. I'm gonna need it." I replied with a huge sweatdrop.
"*sigh* Why did you bring me into this, Ami?" Raffi asked while sounding really annoyed.
"Hey, you did this to yourself, Raffi. Almost getting into a fight on the first day of school. I had to do something."
"Yeah, but agreeing to go along with this angelic nuisance? You couldn't think of anything else?"
"Hey, I'm right here!" Floré complained. "I can hear everything you're saying!"
"Yeah, that's the point." Raffi replied to her with the kind of look that basically means "I have absolutely no interest in your life".
"Por que carallo pouco..."
"Raffi…" I scolded her.
"Fine, Ami. I get it." Raffi pouted.
But seriously, though. What is that language? It sounds Spanish…but it's not.
We were now walking down the hallway following this Floré girl to what I assume is the student council office to possibly learn more about this Rainbow Puyo Hat that I'm wearing.
Before that fight that almost happened, it sounded like she knew something about the hat. But even then, I'm a bit skeptical about this. Not because this information is coming from an angel of all people…
…
…O-Okay, that's part of the reason.
But honestly…I'm scared. Scared of what else am I gonna learn about this thing. I mean…it can be worse than Sphinx, right? He was the only one who used the hats for evil intentions. And we blasted him out of existence.
But…I just don't want any more bad stuff to happen to me. My family suffered for a little over a year because of these events. It even tore us apart by having Dad in prison for something he had no control over. If any of that stuff happens again…or something worse than that…
…
I just hope I have no regrets about this…
"So, uh… Floré. By me going with you, does this mean you know something about the Rainbow Puyo Hat?" I asked.
"I do. In fact, the entire student council knows about it."
"R-Really?"
"Are they just as rude and bossy as you?" Raffi asked.
"No, they're not. And if anything, it's you who's rude and bossy, little miss rich girl."
"Tch! Pourquoi tu es petit..."
Something tells me these two will never get along…
"Ooh! Is another fight about to bloom? Don't wanna miss this. *giggle*" All of a sudden, that Ecolo guy from before appeared in front of us hold a bag of chips in his hand.
"Oh, so now you're willing to come to the office?" Floré asked.
"Yeah, I am. Ringo's too busy talking about which girls look cute enough to kiss. Didn't know she swung that way. It's interesting, to say the least. *giggle*"
Seriously? I mean, I know she's bi, but…she could've kept that stuff to herself.
"So, why follow me if it's so interesting to you?"
"Because, Floré…I'm surprised you know about the Rainbow Puyo Hat. Didn't think you were into legends and stuff."
"It's not me, it's the Light Academy. Since it reappeared all of a sudden, they want us to keep an eye on it. Didn't think someone close to my age would have it, though."
"Keep an eye on it? What's that supposed to mean?" I asked.
"Damn, I've said too much. *sigh* No going back now. We're already here, anyway." Floré opened the door in front of us and inside were four other people sitting around a rectangular table.
There were, going from left to right, a short blue-haired angel girl with red glasses. Her face reminded me of the Duranné siblings. As in, she looked unamused with her surroundings.
Next was a short green-haired angel girl who looked like she had the complete opposite personality as the blue-haired girl. She was loud, cheerful, and currently flying all over the room.
A lot like Harpy would do...
On the other side of the table was a long blonde-haired angel boy with glasses currently drinking tea. Just by looking at him, he gives me the impression of Lemres. Not sure if that's good or bad, though.
The last one was a long light-purple-haired boy who looked rather serious and charming at the same time. Not sure if that makes any sense, but that's how I saw him.
All of them were wearing the same style of uniform as Floré. But as I continued to look at them, one question came into my mind:
Why the hell is the entire Student Council for this school a bunch of angels? More importantly, how are there so many angels around here? Is this school really okay with this?
"Hey, everyone. I'm back." Floré said, gaining the other's attention.
"Welcome back, President. I see you found Ecolo again." The purple angel said.
"Yeah. Turns out he knows some students who started today. I found him in the cafeteria talking with one of them."
"And Floré almost got into a fight~." Ecolo added.
"E-Ecolo!"
"Wow! Floré-senpai in a fight?! And I missed it?! *whine* Why didn't you tell me, Ecolo?!" The green angel whined.
"*giggle* Sorry, Roco. It just happened in a split second. Even took me by surprise."
"Aw, phooey."
"Getting into a fight as president. And on the first day of school, no less. Kinda defeats the purpose of being president, President." The blue angel said in a tone that now makes me think of her as Rei. As in, she's really unamused with her surroundings.
"Don't you think I know that, Ciel?" Floré sounded insulted.
"Well, at least it didn't actually happen. Want some tea, President?" The yellow angel asked.
"Yeah. I could go for some right now. Thank you, Lux."
"So, President. Who are these two lovely ladies you brought with you?" The purple angel asked.
"This is…"
"Well, for starters…" Raffi interrupted Floré before she could say anything. "…My name is Raffina Fielding. And this is my girlfriend, Amitie Rose."
"Hiya…" Amitie said while waving her hand.
"Yeah. What she said." Floré clearly sounded pissed that she was off. "And now I suppose I should introduce everyone here. Starting from my left is…"
"Ciel. Ciel Neroni. Student Council Treasurer. " The blue angel introduced herself, cutting Floré off in the process.
"Right. And next to her is…"
"Hiya! I'm Roco Tamura! The Student Council Secretary of Suzuran High School!" The green angel cheered. Cutting off Floré again.
"*sigh* Right. And over here is…"
"Lux Fukumoto is my name. Vice-Chairman of the Suzuran High School Student Council. Pleased to meet you girls. Care for some tea?" The yellow angel cut off Floré while offering us some tea.
"Later, Lux. And finally…"
"It's a pleasure to meet such beautiful young ladies such as yourselves. My name is Abyss Shoji and I represent the Morning Committee of the Student Council. I do hope you enjoy your 3 years here at this school." The purple angel said with such a charming tone.
"Gah! Why is everyone cutting me off today?!" Floré shouted.
"Because it's fun~." Ecolo answered.
"You shut up!"
"Well, it's nice to meet you all." I said.
"Yeah, same here. I thought you guys were going to be as much as a bit…"
*BUMP*
"Ow! Okay, fine! Nice to meet you all." Raffi said after I slammed my elbow against her side.
And I know that it hurt because she's still healing from the surgery.
"So, how come you've brought these two ladies here, Floré?" Abyss asked.
"Don't you guys feel it? The power coming from Amitie's hat?"
"Hmm…now that you mention it, I do feel some intense power." Lux said.
"Whoa! This power is so huge!" Roco yelled in excitement. "It's making me feel tingly in my tummy!"
"You're probably just hungry, Roco." Ciel said. "But I do feel it, too."
"Could that really be…" Abyss asked.
"Yes. It's the Rainbow Puyo Hat." Floré said. "And I brought her here to make sure I wasn't the only one feeling its power." She then turned to me. "Now that it's confirmed, how did you gain possession of such a powerful item?"
"W-Well…it was created when the original 5 Puyo Hats fused together. After we had fought against the Soul King Sphinx."
"What?! You fought against Sphinx and WON?!" Ecolo asked in pure shock. "How the hell did two pre-pubescent girls like yourselves managed to do that?!"
"P-Pre-pubescent?!" Raffi and I yelled.
"Ecolo!" Floré yelled at him.
"What? They do kinda look like it."
That doesn't mean you can just say it out loud, you jerk!
"Still, you do have a point. How are you two aware of who Sphinx is?"
"W-Well…" It was then that I started shaking in fear from having to remember the day this whole mess started. That's when I felt Raffi grab my hand and held it tight to try to make me feel better.
It was a nice gesture…but it didn't work.
"Look, she clearly doesn't want to talk about it and neither do I." Raffi said. "So, can we just drop this conversation and go now?"
"Drop it?! No, we are not "dropping it"! This hat is harboring some massive power and we need to know about it!"
"Don't you see how distraught she is?! She's tearing up right now! I thought the Student Council President is supposed to care for the student body!"
"She has a point, Floré." Lux added, agreeing with my statement.
"B-But I…"
…
"…F-Fine. We'll let this go…for now." Floré finally gave in.
"Don't feel sad, Floré-senpai. I made these sandwiches earlier this morning. So, let's eat them together~!" Roco cheered as she held out a plate of sandwiches.
"Maybe later, Roco."
"Aw…"
She seriously reminds me of Harpy. It's weird.
"Now. It was nice meeting you guys…well, most of you. But if we're done here, we're going back to the cafeteria." Raffi said while still holding my hand.
But as we were heading for the door, it opened from the outside and we saw someone we knew standing in front of us.
Well…floating in front of us.
"Aw! This isn't the snack room, either! I'm so lost!"
"Harpy, what are you doing?" I asked.
"Amitie! Raffina! Thank goodness I found you! Do you know where the snack room is? I've been looking for it forever!"
"Harpy…there's no snack room." Raffi said.
"There isn't?! Aw, phooey! And that Ecolo guy told me there were lots of snacks there!"
"Really?" I asked as we both turned to Ecolo.
"*giggle* Sorry. I couldn't resist. She's such an airhead."
"Yeah, true."
"Roco. Isn't that…" Ciel asked her.
"NO! WAY! YOKO!"
"WOWIE! ROCO!"
The two angels flew to each other and hugged one another in an excited mood while the rest of us watched.
"Well, this is a surprise. Could this be your cousin Yoko we've heard so much about, Roco?" Abyss asked.
"H-Her cousin?" Amitie and I asked.
"Yep! This is her!" Roco cheered. "It's been so long, Yoko! I really really really really REEEALY missed you!"
"I missed you too, Roco!" Harpy cheered with her.
Wait, is she okay with her calling her Yoko? I thought she hated that name.
*INSERT CLASSIC SCHOOL BELL CHIME HERE*
"Oh, great. We've missed the rest of lunch. Thanks a lot, Miss Student Council President." Raffi sounded pissed off that she didn't get to eat anything.
"H-Hey! You think I did this to just mess with you?! I didn't eat either!" Floré said.
"Floré-senpai! You wanna eat the sandwiches now?!" Roco asked with a gleam of hope in her tan-colored eyes.
"*sigh* I guess. Thanks, Roco."
"Yay~!"
"Hey, Roco. Can Ami and I have one?" Raffi asked.
"Sure thing! Everyone can enjoy my sandwiches!"
"Hey, Roco."
"Yeah, Yoko?"
"What's a sandwich?"
"S-Seriously?" Raffi, Floré, and I were having a sweatdrop moment while we could hear Ecolo giggling to himself. Oddly enough, Abyss, Ciel, and Lux didn't react to it.
"A sandwich is the best food in the world! Here! Try one!" Roco said as gave a sandwich to Harpy. Once she took a bite, Harpy's face lit up with excitement.
"Wowie, wow WOW! This is the best thing I've ever had!" She shouted with glee.
"A sandwich? Really?" The three of us asked. Not believing what was being said and done in front of us.
"Amitie! Raffina! Red-Haired Angel Girl!"
"It's Floré." Floré sounded insulted.
"You've got to try this thing! It's SO yummy!"
"*sigh* Why not?"
"It's better than nothing." I said.
"Yeah, I guess." Raffi agreed.
We each took a sandwich and started eating it bite by bite.
…
"Huh. Not bad." We all said.
"Right?! My sandwiches are the best in the world! Nobody can make a better sandwich than me! *giggle*"
Aren't all sandwiches the same, though?
"Welp. Thanks for the sandwiches, Roco." Raffi said. "We're going back to class now. C'mon, Harpy."
"Aw~. But I want more sandwich thingies~."
"Hey, don't think we're done with this conversation!" Floré yelled. "I'll bring this back up tomorrow!"
"Geez, why don't you lay off already?! You're a freaking nuisance who's obsessing over a damn beanie and not caring about the feelings of your fellow students! Some Student Council President you are!"
"Hey, don't twist my intentions! I need info about that hat! The Light Academy will surely go at it on me if don't give them a report!"
"Yeah, well kiss my rich elegant ass! Angelic pleb!"
"Grr…carallo de carallo!"
"Floré!" Abyss yelled in shock.
"Ooh~! Floré swearing…that's a rare sight. *giggle*" Ecolo said.
THAT was her swearing?! What did she say?!
"Ugh. Sorry. It's just…she was really pushing my buttons, alright?"
"Pushing YOUR buttons?" Raffi said. I then raised my arm against her side again and she immediately panicked into silence. Fearing that I'll hit her again and upset her wounds.
"It's fine, Floré." I said. "But, now I'm curious…what language is that?"
"It's Galician. I'm from Galicia, a region in Spain. I…tend to speak it sometimes during mid-speech."
"I see."
Galician, huh? I had a feeling it was similar to Spanish in some way…
"Well, Floré…could I at least think about telling about my history with the Rainbow Puyo Hat? It is a bit difficult to bring up at some points."
"She does possess a point, Floré." Lux said. "After all…these girls did go up against Sphinx and survived."
"That alone should deserve an award." Ciel added.
"Well…" Floré went silent for a bit. "…O-Okay, fine. Anyone who's dealt with THAT abomination deserves some moments of peace. I just wish I had some peace left…"
"Huh?"
"N-Nothing. Just…don't forget about this, okay? We really need this information. Or at least keep an eye on that thing."
"I won't forget. I'll come on by when I'm ready. Just please bear with me, okay?"
…
…
…
"O-Okay…Amitie." Floré said with a sad look on her face.
Not getting this info is really hitting her hard. I wonder why? And more importantly…how does a small student council know about someone as dangerous as the Soul King?
Sounds like my story with this hat is still not over yet…
With this conversation finally over and the bell had already rung, the three of us started heading back to class before we could be counted late.
"I still can't believe you agreed to help her out, Ami." Raffi said to me.
"C'mon, Raffi. She sounded serious. And to be honest, it was like a cry for help."
"Cry for help? For what?"
…
"Raffi…" I said with a sigh. "…I feel like Floré herself knows a lot more than what everyone believes."
"So, you think she's hiding something from the others? Geez…I knew she was unreliable."
"You're completely missing the point…" I gained an agitated sweatdrop.
"Mmm…Those sandwich thingies were so yummy. I can't wait to have Seriri taste some of them. She'll definitely think it's tubular!"
"So, you and Roco really are cousins, Harpy?" I asked her.
"Yep. We sure are. Though…it's been a while since I've last seen her. Probably when we were kids."
"Since you were kids?" We both asked.
"She moved away one day and I haven't seen her since. But now that we're together again, I'm sure this school thing will be totally tubular! Woo-hoo!"
"Right…" We both gained a sweatdrop.
Shoot…I forgot to ask them if they knew what tubular meant.
"Well…we still got the afternoon classes left." I said. "Let's just see if it goes just as well for you as the morning half did."
"Okie-doki, Amitie!" Harpy said with a salute (surprised she knows what that is).
Nothing much was said or done on the way back to class. Raffi didn't want to talk about it, Harpy didn't know what to talk about, and I had too much on my mind to even bring it up once more.
What an insane first day…
Author's Note: As the rest of the group recaps from what happened with Arle and Lala, Amitie gets involved with the school's Student Council…who seems to know about Sphinx and the Rainbow Puyo Hat.
Some more than others, it seems.
Nothing much was changed from this one. It was mostly the same aside from the added last part. But the next chapter is the first (of hopefully more) new original chapter in the Fever Arc. Mainly, for one good reason.
Thanks for reading. Later.
