Chapter 83

.

Note: This Harvey Dent is from "Batman: the animated series." His storyline was never resolved to my satisfaction, thus I'm doing this. John, and Phil Albino are from "Dark skies."

.

When he was in Internal Affairs he aquired a nickname, Two Face. He didn't like it, but it stuck. Particularly after he left his fiancee for another woman. Ofcourse he was manipulated by Poison Ivy's chemicals, and his fiancee forgave him. Then Harvey was disfigured in an attack by the crime boss Rupert Thorne, and he suffered a mental breakdown. This permenantly ended his engagement, and he became a crime boss in his own right. He came to enjoy the name of Two Face, abandoning responsibility and deciding people's fates based on the flip of a coin. But the old Harvey resurfaced, couldn't take the injustices he had committed. Harvey thus created yet another personality, the judge, a masked vigilantie who didn't share Batman't rule about not killing. It took awhile, years of intense therapy, but eventually Harvey Dent returned to normal, lived out his remaining years in peace. Then, all of this happenned, and Harvey found himself in a judge's role once again. In Antarctica, he handled certain cases. He believed in restorative justice, and he felt that if he deserved a second chance, so did they. In all the chaos of evacuations, old enemies had to share space. Some couldn't get over old grudges, Harvey tried to help them resolve their old feuds. John and Phil were two such people. From what the witnesses said John just walked right up to Phil and punched him in the face. Now, they were both before judge Dent. Because John was the aggressor, Phil had the right to speak first.

.

Phil: Your honor, in our world John and I ended up on opposite sides of a terrible war. We each did things we're not proud of, we each thought we were doing what was best for the human race at the time. John has not forgiven me for my actions, and in all honesty I can understand.

John; What a load of b...

Dent: Mr Loengard, it does occur to me that mr Albino is telling his story in a way that makes himself somewhat sympathetic, or at least neutral. You will have the opportunity to tell your version of events.

John: Yes your honor.

Dent: Do you have anything else to say mr Albino?

Phil: Only that this war brought great destruction to my world, in the end it was clearly all for nothing. I am willing to set aside past grievances if he will, and work together against our common enemy.

Dent: Very well. Now mr Loengard, you may tell your version of events.

John: I would like to point out, that Phil Albino is a traitor who will betray you. He only cares about his own survival and power.

Phil: I betrayed Majestic because I could no longer stand the evil it was doing. I had my doubts long before John Loengard was drafted into the organization, I was just better at hiding it than he was. The final straw was when our commanding officer, Frank Bach, helped instigate the Vietnam war to increase Majestic's funding. Yes, that is when I sought the Hive out felt maybe they could end our petty squabbles and wars. His beloved Kimberly joined Hive for similar reasons.

John: She was captured, you sought them out.

Phil: As I said, we all did what we thought was best for the human race. Can you honestly say that your conscience is completely clear.

John: Maybe not completely.

Dent: Okay, I could send you to jail for a time mr Loengard. What do you recommend mr Albino?

Phil: He is right about one thing, my own survival is very important to me, and I'd prefer not to wind up suffering for all eternity in Hell. I'm willing to let this slide and work with mr Loengard against our common enemy. Provided he gives me his word it won't happen again.

John: If he promises not to betray us again.

Phil: Sounds fair, I promise.

John: I promise.

Dent: Excellant. Now I suggest you two gentlemen shake hands and try to put this unpleasantness behind you.

.

John and Phil did briefly shake hands, and both men looked like they were swallowing bad tasting medicine. Harvey Dent didn't think they'd be going bowling anytime soon, but he hoped a second fight could be avoided.
