It was a gorgeous day outside. The sky was blue, birds were chirping. The denizens of City Z were going about their daily lives without a care in the world. Everything seemed to be going well.
… that was until a monster arrived.
"HUMANITY SHALL PAY FOR RUINING MOTHER EARTH!"
The denizens began to scream as the large, buff purple monster crashed into their city, knocking over buildings like it was no one's business. The monster formed balls of energy, throwing them around and causing more destruction. Smoke and steam rose into the air. Cracks formed on the pavement.
All seemed bad, but luckily, two heroes were on their way to save the day. Two A Class heroes, that is. The two heroes, Lightning Max and Stinger, stood before the floating monster, fists out.
"The heroes are here!" the civilians cheered with relief.
"Don't worry!" Lightning Max cried out, Stinger behind him. "We'll-"
The monster rolled his eyes, taking out both the heroes with one hit. They were sent flying back, crashing into the mess of destroyed buildings.
"You really think you can stand up to Mother Earth's apostle?!" the monster roared. The civilians screamed in horror.
Elsewhere in the city, an ordinary-looking man was sitting in his apartment, watching the news on screen. He was lying back, position casual.
"City Z is under attack!" a newscaster screamed. The man watched the purple monster flying around, destroying things with balls of energy. He gazed at the knocked out heroes also displayed on the screen.
"Guess I'll go." the man shrugged, standing up.
Meanwhile, in another different part of the city, a young man was making his way to school, school bag over his shoulder. This young man's name was Taro Yamada, and there was not a more average student you could find, from everything down to his looks to his intelligence.
Despite his mediocrity, Taro attended Akademi High, the most prestigious school in the world. And he knew he couldn't be late no matter what. Akademi was very strict about its attendance. Plus, his best friend Osana Najimi was waiting for him at the school. She'd get upset if he was late to see her.
So it was rather unfortunate when Mr. Yamada got himself caught up in the monster attack.
It's not like Taro was oblivious to the existence of monsters. Everyone - especially in City Z - knew about the dangerous mysterious beings that crept in the darkness, eyes peering dangerously at every corner. Taro had to wonder why Akademi had been built in a city that was so notorious for its amount of monsters. Then again, the girl who had designed the school, according to most sources, had been… rather eccentric, to say the least.
Still, even with the aforementioned awareness of mysterious beings, that didn't exactly mean Taro was prepared to encounter one. Most ordinary civilians weren't. They left all of that to the heroes. Sadly, it seemed the heroes weren't around this time.
Taro's body began to shake as the ground rumbled beneath him. It suddenly exploded, launching him onto his back. His legs groaned in pain, smoke obscuring his vision. He held onto his school bag, sitting up. His eyes widened in horror when he saw the damage of the blow: buildings knocked over, craters from explosions, smoke and steam…
Then a shadow covered him from behind. A monster loomed above him, eyes narrowed. It was tall and humanoid with bulging muscles, and deep purple skin. Spikes were scattered across the bulging flesh.
Taro scrambled backwards, his breathing scattered. The monster grinned wide, revealing a row of sharp teeth.
"What a pathetic looking human," he drawled. "No wonder Mother Earth wanted me to eliminate you all!"
He held out his purple arm. It squished and extended in size, spikes appearing all over it. Soon, the hand was as big as Taro's entire body.
"S-Stay away from me!" Taro coughed out, holding out his arms.
"Are you actually trying to fight me?" the monster titled his head. "You idiot human. I am Mother Earth's apostle. I have powers you couldn't even dream of!"
Taro grimaced. This was his chance to be a hero; he'd dreamed of being a hero since he'd been a little kid. But he didn't have any powers, and he didn't have much physical strength, either. What was he supposed to do against what was essentially a Dragon level threat?!
He stumbled over, the monster grinning sadistically once again.
"HELP!" Taro cried out. "SOMEONE, PLEASE! HELP!" Tears formed in his eyes. "I NEED A HERO!"
The monster was about to crush him whole with just his hand. And then someone grabbed him, carrying him to safety. Taro opened his eyes. Standing above him was a bald man in a yellow jumpsuit, a long, white cape flowing behind him.
"You're a fast one," the monster said, staring at him. "Who are you?"
"Just a guy who's a hero for fun," the hero replied.
The monster scowled. "You're kidding. What kind of half-assed backstory is that? Mine's far superior! I was formed from the pollution man wrought upon the Earth." His teeth gleamed. "I am Vaccine Man! You filthy humans are nothing but a disease that's causing bacteria to eat at precious life forms! In order to wipe out humanity and the evil civilisation built on her surface, the Earth and her infinite wisdom has given birth, to me!"
By now, Vaccine Man had grown massively in size. Fangs protruded out of his mouth like tusks, and his eyes glowed a dangerous red. Claws extended from his hands, surrounding the hero.
"YOU SAY YOU DO THIS FOR FUN?" He demanded. "FOR FUN? HOW DARE YOU CONFRONT MOTHER EARTH'S APOSTLE FOR SUCH A PATHETIC REASON! WHAT COULD BE EXPECTED FROM A HERO LIKE-"
He was interrupted by the hero punching him in the face. With one punch, Vaccine Man was dead. A disgusting explosion covered the land in grime.
The hero glared at his steaming fist. "Not again… all it took was one punch…" He screamed, falling to the ground, head in hands. "DAMMIT!"
Taro didn't know what to say. When he tried to speak, his words came out as babble. What had he just witnessed?
The hero in front of me… Taro stared at his shaking fists. How is he so… strong?!
"Sir, excuse me!" Taro stood up, walking over to the weeping hero. "Uh, hey!"
"Huh?" the hero looked over his shoulder. "What is it?"
"Who are you?!" Taro asked, eyes wide. "How did you get so strong… ?!"
"Oh, I'm Saitama," the hero replied, turning to face him. His brows narrowed. "As for how I got strong? 100 pushups. 100 sit-ups. 10 kilometre run. Every single day, non-stop."
There was a pause.
"... that's it?" Taro made a face.
"Yep," Saitama nodded.
"Are you serious?!" Taro demanded. "There's no way you can get god level strength from only that amount of training!"
"I'm telling the truth, man," Saitama said. "It's all up to hard work and skill."
Taro bit his lip. "I… I don't get it… but you're amazing..." He shook his head. "Listen, um, Saitama… gosh, I'm about to be late for school, but… can I ask you for a favour?"
"Sure," Saitama shrugged.
"Can you…" He got on his knees. "Can you teach me how to be a hero?"
"Sure," Saitama nodded. He made a face. "Wait, what?"
"I've always wanted to be a hero," Taro confessed, "but… I've always lacked the confidence and skill. But… but you seem to know a lot. So… can you help me, Saitama?"
"You wanna be a hero, huh?" Saitama asked. "It's not gonna be easy, kid."
"I know, I know," Taro said. "But I don't want to be scared anymore. I want to follow my dreams and become a hero."
Saitama breathed out, slowly.
Kid's got determination… he thought. He's kinda like me back in the day.
"Alright, fine," he decided. "I'll help you become a hero. But you've gotta be ready for some serious training, got it?"
"Y-Yes sir!" Taro stood up, saluting him. "My name is Taro Yamada, by the way, Saitama sir!"
"Drop the sir stuff," Saitama grunted.
"Sorry, sir- I mean Saitama." Taro sweat-beaded.
Saitama sighed. "Hey, by the way, Taro… judging by your uniform, you go to Akademi High, right?"
"Yeah," Taro nodded.
"Well, I just wanna know…" Saitama paused. "Is there a student at that school named Ayano Aishi?"
Taro wasn't sure why, but for some reason that name… triggered a feeling of unrest in his soul. A feeling of existential dread went right through him. He felt chills crawling up his spine. For some reason, he couldn't help but imagine the entire human race wiped out due to the actions of a lone, selfish schoolgirl. Dead, haunted doll-like eyes pierced into his soul. The very thought of that made him want to die. He would do anything to escape the insanity and madness of the thoughts, including stabbing himself in the-
"Not that I know of," Taro shook his head. "Sorry."
"It's cool," Saitama waved a hand.
There was an awkward silence.
"Uh, hey, I really gotta get to school," Taro coughed. "I'm gonna be so late. My best friend is gonna kill me."
"Well, you'd better go then," Saitama gave him a thumbs up. "See ya later."
"Yeah, see ya!" Taro waved, before running off. "And thank you, Saitama!"
Saitama gave him a quick thumbs up as he watched Taro run off. He furrowed his brow in concentration.
Nice kid, he thought. Swear I've seen him somewhere before, though… He shook his head. Nah. Probably not.
Then his thoughts returned to the person he had asked Taro about: Ayano Aishi. Strangely enough, Saitama himself didn't know anything more about her than Taro. All he knew was her name and that she was important... somehow. Despite that, not a single person he had met knew anything about her. Not that he had met a lot of people, but even then… it seemed like Ayano Aishi didn't even exist.
If she doesn't exist, how come I know her name? Saitama thought. How is she so important? And where is she?
Saitama breathed out. He mooched back home, wondering if he would ever uncover the mystery of Ayano AIshi.
Man, that Taro guy wants me to teach him some stuff, he thought. But what do I know aside from physical training? Well, kid seems enthusiastic, at least. Maybe I can help him out with that.
He smiled. Yeah… that sounds good.
A/N: Well, that's it. One Punch Simulator is finally over. What a fucking ride man. This has been my longest and most extensive fanfic yet. It's also the one I'm most proud of, to be honest. I mean there are some parts I'm kinda eh about. To be honest, I got a little burnt out by the end, so I don't think seasons 3-4 turned out as well as I originally pictured them to be. As a whole, though, I'm glad I finished this story. The ending was hard to come up with. I didn't want to make it unsatisfying, but I didn't want it to be positive either, since OPS isn't really a happy story lol. I guess this is the best we can hope for in this timeline. Now I'm going to talk about some stuff such as, ahem, Yandere Sim drama and sequels below so here we go. There'll be a TLDR at the bottom if you'd rather read that.
So, considering Yandere Sim drama… to be honest I've been avoiding it for the most part since I hate getting involved with drama. I mean I've been aware of it, and I was aware of it when OPS started, but I loved the idea of OPS so much I couldn't help myself. And when I first got the idea for OPS, the drama wasn't too bad. Unfortunately, it really spiked up in 2020. I'm not going to sit here and claim certain things about YandereDev or defend him, but I will say that I don't really care about him as a person, what I care about is the game's concept and story. However, there were a few times I felt guilty for working on OPS. Honestly, part of me kind of wanted to discontinue the story just to get away from all the drama, and overall the drama really soured my experience of writing this story. But that wouldn't be fair to all the readers following the story, and it also would annoy me personally as I said, I love the story of OPS. Now that OPS is actually over I can move away from the drama. (In case you're wondering, I don't really care about Love Letter either.)
I admitted before that I was starting to get burnt out at the end, so I can understand why some of you disliked the later parts of the story. Even I have mixed feelings about it, but I'm tired of this story now, and I'm ready to move on.
I said back in the season 3 finale that I was moving away from Yandere Sim content once OPS was done, which was a hard decision to make since for a while, I've had a really good idea for an OPS sequel. In some ways, the sequel is actually better than the original, since it ties in a lot of the stories from the original, and we get to see some more of the characters we didn't see as much of in the original. Plus, there's also a new character in the sequel who is… very interesting to say the least. And while I still love these ideas, I still want to move away from the drama, and I also have other projects I want to work on. So I might leave the sequel as a 'maybe someday' for now.
TLDR: Not a fan of YS drama, might do a sequel one day, but we'll see.
Now that all of that crap is out of the way, I want to say thank you for reading this fanfic, whether you've been reading since it began or only started recently. It's been a real fun ride despite all the drama. Whether or not you commented or faved or whatever, it all means a lot. But now it's time for me to head out. So I'll see y'all later. Adios!
