Chapter 84 – Raina's New Friend
Marvett's POV
*SPOILER ALERT – This chapter contains spoilers for Puyo Puyo Tetris 2. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!*
*MEANWHILE…*
"Ooh~! Look at that thing! And that thing! And that thing! There are so many cool things out here, Marvie! I wanna kick them all!"
"Glad you like them, Raina." I said. "But…please don't kick anything. People here won't like that."
"Oh…okay, then."
After the first half of class, Raina wanted to see what else was lying around the school. And with my curiosity blooming as well, I decided to tag along with her.
…
Well…part of the reason was that she can NOT be left alone in a place like this. With her being…n-not that bright, she's sure to cause unintentional trouble.
Or worse, get into trouble. Just the thought of Raina ending up in a really bad situation riles up my nerves. I wouldn't want that happening to my best friend.
…
…
…
W-Wow…I-I just called Raina my best friend. N-Not that it isn't true or anything. But…
"Hey, Marvie…what's there to do in high school?"
"Huh? You mean Raffina didn't tell you?"
"I think she did. But I forgot. It was too much stuff to follow and my head was hurting."
"I see…" I gained a sweatdrop. "…Well, Raina. Besides regular classes, there are also clubs to join."
"Clubs?"
"It's when you meet up with people who share your interest in something and hang out together. It's a good use of your time after school."
"Woah…that sounds really fun! Let's go find a club, Marvie!"
"Huh? You and me in a club together?"
"Sure, why not? I totally wanna be in a club with my best friend!"
"B-Best friend, huh?" A light blush appeared on my face. "S-Sure, Raina. Let's go find one."
"Yay! You're the best, Marvie!" Raina cheered as she hugged me tightly around my body. It no doubt caught the attention of others nearby. Giving us both weird looks and silent giggles.
They probably think we're a couple based on how we act around each other. I gotta remember to clear such a misunderstanding later…
After I had gotten a list of all the clubs available, the two of us went around the school looking at each of them to see which was right for the both of us.
Mainly Raina. But you get the point.
The number of clubs here was a lot…The Art Club, The Literature Club, The Cooking Club, The Theater Club, The Newspaper Club, The Earth Science Club, The Animation Club, The Gaming Club, The Doujin Club…
The Light Music Club (whatever that is)…
The Amusement Club (not sure how you make amusement into a club)…
The Pingas Club (pretty sure that one's just a troll)…
…But in the end, none of them worked out for us. Raina struggled to understand most of them and they just didn't interest me.
If only there was a Writing Club…
"*whine* We still haven't found a club to join." Raina whined.
"Don't worry, Raina. I'm sure we'll find one." I then looked back at the list. "In fact, it says here that there's one more left that we haven't tried."
"Really? What's that?"
"Uh…The F.U.N. Club…such a weird name for a club."
"F…U…N…Hey, that's spells "fun", right? Maybe the club is super-duper fun!"
"Wouldn't that be too obvious?"
"Come on, Marvie! It's the only one left! We just GOTTA try it! Please~?!" Raina then stared at me with the biggest puppy-dog eyes I've ever seen on a person. And it may be because she's so dense that the effect is working harder than it usually does.
"Raina…" I then went silent for a bit. "*sigh* Fine. We'll go check it out."
"Yay~!" Raina cheered as she hugged me once more. "You're the super-duper best, Marvie! I love ya!"
"L-Love?!" I gained a huge blush on my face while looking around to see if anyone heard that.
Thankfully, we were the only ones in this part of the school. But still…
"R-Raina, don't say things like that. People will get the wrong idea."
"Huh? Wrong idea of what?" Raina looked at me with a confused look on her face.
So, she has no idea what love truly is, huh? That's…sort of a relief.
"N-Nothing, Raina. Let's just go before lunch ends." I then held onto her hand and dragged her along the empty hallway to find this club.
"Okey-dokie!"
As it turns out, we weren't that far from where the club wa supposed to be. So, after about a minute or two, we arrived at the place and were now standing in front of the door. With a sign hanged on the front that said: "F.U.N. Club" written somewhat poorly.
I'm still a bit unsure about this one. But it's the only one left and Raina really wants to be in a club. Mainly…she wants to be in one with me.
And so…I'm putting my worries aside and checking out this club. For our friendship's sake, really.
"Alright, Raina." I said. "This time, let me do all the talking. We don't want a repeat of what happened in the Cooking Club."
"But I don't get why they were so flustered. All I said was if they had Sex on the Beach?"
Yeah, and look how that ended for us…
"How do you even know what that is?"
"My maid Lily drinks it. Despite being a virgin. By the way, what's a virgin?"
…
…
…
"L-Let's just see this club already." I said with a mild blush as I opened the door.
"But Marvie…"
"Bouncy! Bouncy! Bouncy!"
When we walked inside, we saw this girl with light yellow-green hair with three curls and the back part connected to form a circle. She also had a cloud on her head. I'm not entirely sure how that's even possible.
Right now, she was bouncing on a huge shiny white bubble. Cheering and giggling after each bounce she made on it.
Surprised it hasn't popped yet…
"Wow…that looks super fun! I SO wanna try it!"
"Raina, I don't think…"
"Huh? Wah!"
*THUD*
It was then that girl noticed us standing by the door. Losing her concentration on the bubble and falling hard to the floor.
"Ow…"
"A-Are you okay?" I asked as I helped her up.
"Oh, yes. I'm fine. Don't worry. That happens all the time."
"I see…"
Looking at the girl more closely, I noticed her amethyst purple eyes and the fact that her uniform was different from how it normally looks. The skirt was a cyan color and her necktie was just as white as her cloud.
Could she be Special Ed, too? She looks completely normal…
"Anyway…what can I do for you girls?" The girl asked.
"Well…the two of us are going around looking at clubs and…"
"We wanna join this one!"
"Raina!"
"Really?! You wish to join my F.U.N. Club?! Oh, boy! That sounds…"
*TWITCH*
"…Really fun! *giggle*"
In a sudden quick flash, the girl had changed from a girl with light yellow-green circler-shaped hair and amethyst eyes to one with half-lidded golden ones. The tips of her hair looked a lot like lightning bolts and the back of her hair frayed outward to points on both sides. Losing their circler shaped and looking more like squares.
The cloud on her head was now also black with a blue lightning bolt coming out of it. Still not sure how that's even possible.
Her uniform changed, too. Once a cyan skirt and a white necktie, it was now a dark red skirt and a necktie that was as black as the cloud on her head.
…
Also, she was kinda creepy now. Probably should've mentioned that first.
"W-Woah…"
"M-Marvie…" Raina said as she hid behind me.
"*creepy giggling continues* Come now, you two. Let's have LOTS of…"
*TWITCH*
…
"O-Oh, my goodness! I-I'm so sorry! I really need to get that under control…" And then in another quick flash, the girl had returned to normal. Reverting to the same colors and style that we first saw her in.
Almost as if it never happened…
"Uh…I-It's fine, really." I said. "But…what was that, exactly?"
"Well…I have this personality disorder. It triggers whenever I get really excited or start talking about what's fun or not. And whenever that happens, I turn into…that."
"I see…"
"That's primarily why I'm in the school's Special Ed program. How the second personality triggers is a bit unpredictable. The smallest mentioning of something fun can easily trigger it."
"Huh…"
"And now, I bet you think I'm some kind of crazy person, huh? *sigh* It's only the first day of school and I already messed up. I really am bad at making friends…"
"Well, wait, I…"
"No way! You're not crazy at all!" Raina suddenly shouted.
"Huh? I-I'm not?"
"Not at all! From the looks of it, you're nice, cute, and super-duper fun to be around! Plus, I like bubbles!"
"Kind of a bad time to bring that up, Raina…" I said with a sweatdrop.
"R-Really?! Y-You think that I'm…"
*TWITCH*
"…Super-duper fun?! *giggle*"
"Aw, geez! Not again!"
"Why, thank you. Hearing that from someone other than my parents makes me really really…"
*TWITCH*
…
"O-Oh, dear! It happened again! I'm so sorry!"
"It's fine, really." I said. "For some reason, I'm already used to this weird trait of yours."
"Y-You are? How?"
"Hmm…it's probably because I know a girl with magical powers, a girl who has no soul, a devil/tortured soul hybrid, the Demonic Princess of Hell, and a clone."
"And I'm the clone. *giggle*" Raina added.
"I-I see…" The girl gained a huge sweatdrop. "Well, it is nice to meet you, girls. My name is Marle Sākuru. President of the F.U.N. Club."
"Hiya, Marle! Name's Raina Fielding! Nice to meet ya!"
"My name is Marvett Simmons. Nice to meet you, Marle."
"M-Marvett Simmons?! Th-The world-renowned reviewer?! Wow…I never would've thought that you would be the same age as me!"
"Yeah, I get that a lot." I said with a light giggle.
"S-So…" Marle went silent for a bit. "…S-Since you know about my personality disorder…a-are you two still willing to join my club?"
"Well…"
"I'm DEFINITELY joining this club!" Raina yelled. "I wanna have so much super-duper fun with you, Marle! And Marvie feels the same way!"
"Raina…" I then went dead silent as I had both girls staring me down. Waiting for my response.
I really do want to be in a club with Raina…and this is the only one left. So, we really don't have many choices left.
Plus…Marle does seem like a nice girl. Despite her personality disorder. It would be nice to have more friends in this region.
"Well…alright. I'm sure this club won't be too bad."
"Yay! Marvie!" Raina cheered as she gave me a big hug.
"Thank you so much, Marvett!" Marle said. "I promise that you two…"
*TWITCH*
"…will have SO MUCH FUN here at the F.U.N. Club! I'll make SURE of it! *creepy giggle*"
*TWITCH*
Marle then reverted back to normal and gained a mild blush of embarrassment on her face. Ashamed for letting her other personality take over her again.
"Thanks, Marle. I'm sure we'll have a blast." Was all I said.
Author's Note: A bit unplanned, but Marle has joined the cast of Love of Puyo Puyo! When I played Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, I instantly grew a liking for her. She easily became one of my favorite characters and I play as her a lot.
I'm not sure if others had implemented her yet. But for me, I incorporated both her normal self and her possessed self. I like both a lot…but I gotta go with her normal self more. She's just so sweet.
Also, her last name is based on her concept around circles. Much like how Chetta's last name is literally "cat" in Japanese, Marle's last name is literally "circle" in Japanese.
This will be the last chapter for the year. As I don't think I can squeeze another one in before the year ends. So, with that said…thanks for reading and Happy Holidays. Later.
