For those of you who didn't see it, I wrote a oneshot on the tv series Flash if you want to read it.
Here's another chapter, thanks for the ones who added it to their favorites.
Chapter 49: Let's play
Emily's POV
The girls and I decided to take the day to have fun and spend time together like we used to do. Well, Spencer needed a little convincing since she wants to take down -A right now. We all know how important it is and we all want to finally feel free and happy again, but we just need a break from all of it. Having almost lost Hanna shook us quite a bit.
"So? A good old I've never or truth or dare?" Hanna asks unconvinced herself.
"Yeah, might as well. One rule though. No talk about -A" I add giving a pointed look to my girlfriend who I could see was already planning things to ask Hanna so she could start forming a plan in her head.
Spencer pokes out her tongue at me but admits defeat and says she'll participate to please me. Aria simply nods her approval.
"So truth or dare it is!" Hanna exclaims as she sits down on the floor to have a better view of everyone.
Aria sits down next to her. I can see she wants to touch Hanna, but she seems too shy to make the first move. Hanna takes a look around, probably trying to figure out who should start, but she sees the same thing I did and she grabs Aria's hand as she smiles at her. I'm curious to see how their relationship will evolve. They make an oddly perfect couple.
"Can I start?" Spencer asks, surprising me.
"Hum… Yeah, sure." Hanna agrees with uncertainty.
"Emily, truth or dare?" My girlfriend asks me as I look at her trying to figure out what she has in mind.
"Truth… I guess?"
"Would you like to spend the next weekend with me in the barn?"
"Yes of course! Is that for real?" I ask excitedly.
"Ah… I asked the question. Now it's your turn." Spencer teases.
"Hanna, truth or dare?" I ask my blonde friend knowing that Spencer will choose dare just to tease me longer anyway.
"Dare. Let's make it interesting." Hanna says with a laugh.
I don't have the time to come up with a dare as Hanna's phone chimes. She picks it up and her face becomes white instantly. It doesn't take a genius to know that she just got a message from -A.
"What does it say?" Spencer asks, having come to the same conclusion.
"I dare you to find me. Your life depends on it. Tic toc…" Hanna reads shakily aloud.
"What!?" Aria squeaks as she grabs Hanna's phone out of her hands and reads the text herself. "Fuck!"
We all stay silent, unused to Aria reacting that way.
"Should we talk about -A now?" Spencer questions hesitantly.
"Doesn't feel like we have much of a choice…" I admit.
"Hanna, say something." Aria demands since Hanna still hasn't talked or moved.
The blonde simply shakes her head as she looks down. She's probably scared. We all know how real that threat is. And she's probably just as tired of this whole thing as we are.
"Spence… Do you have a plan?" Aria asks, knowing that my girlfriend has probably started forming one already.
"Not exactly, but I've been thinking." Spencer replies. "I think that Mona is a bigger threat than we thought."
"What do you mean?" Hanna asks finally looking up.
"We'll we figured she was just a pawn since she's the one who was sent to meet you, but I don't know… Something feels off." Spencer confesses.
"I'm already crushed that Mona could do that to me, but now you're saying she did more?" Hanna asks a bit defensively.
"I'm not saying anything, I'm just trying to understand. And for that, we need to talk about everything that happened." Spencer replies trying to calm down Hanna.
"Alright… What do you want to know?" Hanna questions unwillingly.
"How did you figure out that it was Mona in your backyard?"
"I recognized the voice and I confronted her."
"Don't you think it's weird that -A would send someone you know?" Spencer challenges.
"I was supposed to prove myself that night. So it's actually clever." Hanna argues.
"I disagree… They doubted you all along so why risking Mona being unmask?"
"What are you saying?! You would have been a better spy I suppose?!" Hanna asks as she rises from the floor.
"Yeah, actually! If you…" Spencer says as she rises from the couch, but I cut her off.
"Enough!" I scream.
Everyone stops and stares at me. I'm usually the calm one, but I'm more than over with this -A thing and I won't let us get tear apart again.
"You both have a point. Now let's put our four brains together and figure it out." I say as I grab Spencer's hand and force her to sit back down.
"Fine." Hanna agrees as she sits back down too.
"Spencer, what do you think is Mona's role in all this?" I question her.
"I'm not sure yet. I feel like either she's at the bottom of the pyramid, that would be why she was sacrificed or either she's way higher and they are playing us." Spencer explains.
"What do you think, Hanna?" Aria asks, following my direction.
"I can't believe Mona could be behind all of this. I think that she's being blackmailed into this."
"Do you think so or do you hope so?" I ask.
"I guess I hope so. But I also know her. She was my friend when you weren't and I can't believe that she could be that mean intentionally." Hanna confesses.
"When's the last time you spoke to her, Han?" Spencer questions.
"I… I don't even know…" Hanna admits, her beliefs getting crushed. "You really think that Mona could do that to me?"
"I don't know, sweetie… But I mean, she was always sad that she was not friend with Alison too. Then you became her friend and now she might feel like you ditched her for us. It's almost like you were hanging out with her because you were out of options. I'm not saying it is, but I would understand why she might think that." I explain to her, knowing that Spencer and I are on the same page.
"I really enjoyed hanging out with her though. She was not a plan B, she's truly my friend. But I guess I see what you mean." Hanna says as she looks down with tears in her eyes.
Aria scoots closer and lays her head on the blonde's shoulder. She grabs Hanna's hand and rests their hands on her thigh.
"What do we do from here?" Aria asks softly, knowing that Hanna is trying to compose herself.
"I'm not sure." Spencer admits defeated. "I don't know if we should focus on figuring out what Mona's role is or if we need to focus on demasking the big boss -A."
We stay silent, probably all trying to figure out an angle to work with. I have the feeling that the big boss and Mona might be the same person, but Hanna and Mona's relationship seemed to be genuine and intense… I just don't know what to think. I look around the room and see that Spencer is also deep in thought, she is biting her bottom lip and she's looking to the ceiling, like the answer might be written there. Hanna is still trying not to cry and Aria is still stroking her hand to sooth her. Hanna is the one to break the silence though.
"I need to know if Mona stabbed me in the back voluntarily or not." Hanna states.
"In that case… We need to find a way to set her up." Spencer suggests.
"Yeah, but how?" Aria questions.
"I'm not sure what's the best way with her. Should we try to keep an eye on her to see if she texts us as -A and in what situations or should we trap her and confront her." Spencer thinks out loud.
"What do you think, Han?" I ask Hanna.
"I already confronted her the other night and she still ran to -A… I think we need to gather more evidence against her to make sure that she can't dismiss us anymore." Hanna says as she finally looks up.
I can see the confusion in her eyes. She's so mad at Mona and wants to get even, but she also believes that Mona is being manipulated, so she doesn't want to hurt her.
"Okay than, we need to be attentive to our surroundings when we get a text from -A. We'll also try to have at least always one person spying on Mona at all times." Spencer elaborates. "We need to prove that she is sending some of those texts."
"That's true, but she's not working alone. I'm not sure that putting all our efforts on her is wise." I argue.
"How about talking to the police?" Aria suggests shyly.
"I wish we could, Ar. But it never ends well for us." Spencer explains sweetly.
"I know… I'm just so tired of being anxious all the time. I feel like my heart is already getting overused."
"I know, me too." Hanna agrees with her lover.
"Let's agree to tell each others each every new threat we receive. Now that Mona knows we unmasked her, we'll see how things change. We'll figure it out together." Spencer says as she gives a pointed look to Hanna as she says her last word.
"I'm really sorry for what I put you through. I swear I'll never do anything like that again. I really thought I could make it stop for all of us." Hanna confesses.
"We know, Han. I'm still so mad, but I know it came from a good place. A stupide place, but a good place." I say, making everyone laugh.
"I can't even argue with that." Hanna replies, laughing. "I say we enjoy the rest of the night. -A will make herself known soon enough and there isn't much we can do for now anyway."
"Agreed." Spencer, Aria and I answer.
I know that Spencer is trying to figure out a plan, so I make it my mission to take her mind off it for at least an hour tonight.
Do you think the girls will make it out alive? Who do you think is A? Anything to say about this chapter? I really enjoy hearing from you guys! I stopped writing on fanfiction because I'm working on a novel but I missed the reviews too much so I had to come back in my free time.
The title is a song from Kristina Maria.
