Hi, the author here. I've noticed some people haven't been able to see Chapter 48 and it's not even showing up as having been uploaded for some people. I'm not sure why but hopefully it's sorted soon. Anywhere, here's the next chapter and I hope people can see this and the glitch is sorted soon :)
Walking along the beachfront with Lillie, Heath and Casey, Kyle felt like there was a different atmosphere around. Some people were rushing around like they were looking for someone. Police cars were patrolling Summer Bay, a car passing them every few minutes. It was like the place had gone on lockdown as such, and they didn't know why.
As they reached the Surf Club, they noticed it has two police officers guarding the entrance, radios at the ready. They glanced at each other before walking inside up to Angelo's, and officer on look out on the balcony. They walked up to the bar where Brax and Denny were working a shift, and asked what was going on, neither of them knowing.
"There's two outside the Surf Club and police driving around." Casey comments. "Do you recon something's happened?"
"Surely if it had, they would tell business to shut up for the day until it was sorted?" Denny asks.
"Well I'm not complaining." Kyle says as he smiles down at Lillie, looking up to see his brothers staring at him. "What? I can't really hate them after they got me Lillie back." He lightly shrugs.
"Since when was I a cop?" Heath says, lightly whacking Kyle over the head.
"Okay, you had a huge part to play in it as well, but it wouldn't have happened without their help." Kyle smirks.
"Stop talking unless you want to wear that drink." Heath warns.
"Alright, both of you stop." Brax says before an argument broke out. "As long as the cops don't think this is a permanent thing or they'll scare customers off." He mutters.
"None of you did when you first bought the place did you?" Denny says as the two eldest brothers stare at her. "What? I can say stuff like that since I married Casey." She grins.
"She has a point as well." Kyle says. "I heard the stuff people said about when you first arrived. Not the people to get on the wrong side of."
"Still aren't, so shut it." Heath jokingly glares.
"If you say so." Kyle mutters under his breathe.
"Since when did this attitude of yours come back?" Heath moans, getting a smile off his brother.
"Can I get a meat lovers and mashed vegetables?" Kyle asks his eldest brother.
"You want mashed vegetables on your pizza?" Heath frowns, looking quite disturbed.
"No, you idiot, it's for Lillie. I read in the parents books Brax gave me that mashed vegetables are good for babies this age, and I'm still trying to work out how much she's been weaned." Kyle says.
"Right, thought you had done that by now." Heath says.
"Not yet. I'm nearly there but it's harder than I thought."
"I'll get a pepperoni as well." Casey says.
"Coming up." Brax nods, about to head to the kitchen when he was stopped.
"What about me?" Heath frowns.
"What do you want?" Brax asks.
"I'll get a meat lovers with extra bacon and pepperoni." Heath grins as Brax walks towards the kitchen shaking his head.
"So Lillie seems to be doing better now." Heath says as they walk along the street towards the Braxton's share house.
"Yeah, a bit." Kyle nods. "It's just the times she does start crying from something other than a dirty nappy or being hungry that I struggle."
"Well you know it's going to take time." Heath says as he looks down the street. "Is that a police car on the drive?" He frowns.
"What would the police being doing at ours, especially after they've been patrolling the Bay all day?" Casey frowns.
"Could it have something to do with that?" Kyle frowns before thinking to himself. "It wouldn't have anything to do with Brax and Justin going AWOL when him and Tori were here, would it?" He asks.
"I doubt it. They would have arrested Brax by now if it did." Heath says as they walk up the path to the house, seeing Kat and Emerson talking to Ricky and Bianca. "What's going on?" He asks them.
"Kyle, how about you go and put Lillie down for a nap?" Bianca suggests. "I can watch her for a bit."
"Why, what's happened?" Kyle asks, even more confused at Bianca takes Lillie from him before Ricky moves him to the couch. "What's happened?" He asks again as the two cops sit opposite him.
"Jasmine Shaw has escaped from custody and we suspect she may try and come for Lille."
"What?" Kyle mutters, paling from the news as Heath walks out to call the eldest Braxton.
"How the hell has she escaped?" Casey asks.
"We aren't sure, but it happened when she was being moved to a jail to await trial as we could no longer hold her at the station." Kat says. "We have a lot of units out looking for her, including undercover officers here in Summer Bay, Mangrove River and Yabbie Creek. We won't stop looking until we find her."
"How long has she been missing?" Casey asks as Heath walks back in.
"Since early this morning. We came to tell you as you are at high risk of her coming here because of Lillie, so we're going to be arranging for officers to be stationed outside your house until further notice." Kat says.
"And what is that really doing to find her? She could be anywhere and it took you months to find Lillie before. She's not stupid, she'll make sure you can't find her." Heath says.
"Which is why we're calling in special units that are trained to deal with convicts like Jasmine. That wasn't possible before as we had no solid proof that she took Lillie, but this time we do and she escaped from custody, meaning this will be made top priority. We don't stop until we find her and extra officers has been placed on Ryan to make sure he doesn't try the same thing." Kat explains.
"I don't believe this." Kyle mutters, rushing to his room to be with Lillie, not about to let her be taken away again.
"This is not what we needed." Heath sighs as he watches Kyle leave the room.
"We will find her." Kat reassures.
"Make sure you do, cause I won't hold back if I see her first." Heath warns.
"As long as you don't do anything that would get you arrested." Kat says as she stands up. "Kyle needs you here, not in a prison cell. Keep that in mind."
"We'll be in touch." Emerson says as they leave.
"You think making threats like that around cops is going to help anything?" Ricky scowls.
"Kyle's anxiety had just got down to a manageable level for him, he only has to take one tablet a day for it now. Imagine what this could do if she isn't found?" Heath argues.
"She will be." Casey says. "She may be smart enough to escape, but there's no way she'll get past all the cops in the area. We couldn't walk 10 feet without seeing at least one patrolling around."
"Kyle is going to be fine because he has us." Ricky says.
"Where's Emilia?" Heath asks.
"Down for her nap." Ricky says, holding the baby monitor up. "I'm going in to be with her now, you should go and be with Kyle."
"I called Brax, he's on his way." Heath says.
"He didn't already know?" Ricky asks as they hear tyres screech to a stop outside.
"No, the police wouldn't tell us anything because they've got some on watch on the restaurants balcony." Heath says.
"Bet that's Brax." Casey mutters, the eldest Braxton storming in moments later.
"How the hell did she escape from custody?" He huffs, slamming his keys down on the side table.
"They don't know. They were transferring her to another cell when it happened." Casey says.
"They're keeping two officers outside until they find her." Ricky says.
"Nah, there's one on the gate and two on the storm water channel side as well." Brax says. "They tried stopping me from coming in here." He shakes his head. "Where's Kyle?"
"In his room with Bianca." Ricky replies.
