Combination

The pale demoness's hands tightened around the edge of the mirror, and Kagome stumbled as she backed away. Blue light began to snake between the detective and the silver surface.

"It'll go easier if you stand still, you know," called out Kagura. "Souls can be slippery things."

Kagome felt an invisible hand plucking deep with her, pulling something weightless but vital loose from its place. It was a different kind of pain than when Naraku had choked her, as if she was being peeled away from her flesh and bone. She turned her head. "Sesshoumaru," she gasped, reaching for him. The taiyoukai's muscles strained as he tried to push himself toward her.

"Kagome," he answered, his teeth clenched.

Naraku chuckled. "Don't worry, Detective. Kanna will take those remaining drops of demonic energy next. He'll follow you soon."

A small but clear voice emerged from the girl. "Both of their souls together may…"

Kagura laid a hand on Kanna's shoulder, as she pulled a fan from her waistband with the other, opening it with a flick of her wrist. "Do it, sister. Naraku has commanded it." She grinned.

Kanna blinked. "But it's too much."

And with a crack, the mirror broke.
