INTRODUCTIONS
The day Ty Lee met Azula was one of the best days of her life.
She admired the princess from afar when they started school together, but their paths never crossed until that fateful day on the academy grounds.
Ty Lee was happily doing cartwheels and contortions for an audience, reveling in the attention. She managed to hide the occasional glances she stole at Azula and Mai standing on the outskirts of the playing or observing students.
Ty Lee was happy until the quartet of mean girls pushed themselves to the front of the small crowd.
"What do you think this is? The circus?" laughed the ringleader and Ty Lee shrank in humiliation.
But Princess Azula of all people suddenly strode onto the scene after listening on the sidelines.
"I suppose I thought it was, seeing as there are four clowns in front of me," said Azula coolly, and all of the girls in the quartet blanched.
"I — your highness, I just think displays like that are unbecoming of noble ladies," hastily said the ringleader, eyes downcast, trembling slightly.
Ty Lee watched in awe. Azula was usually the bully, not the person coming to anyone's defense.
"You have an intriguing way of phrasing that," said the little girl. She held up her hand and lit a blue flame. "Now I suggest you leave the airhead alone before I create another kind of unbecoming display with you and your cronies as the stars."
The girls scurried away in a frenzy. Azula turned to the girl she saved.
"I am Princess Azula. I don't believe we've met," she said.
"Oh, uh, I know. I'm Ty Lee."
"I know. Come sit with us." Her tone made it clear Ty Lee had no other choice.
And honestly, Ty Lee did not want any other choice.
