Part 65

Thawne cursed in the warehouse he was hiding out in. He knew that Icicle was going to kill Iris West when he found out that she wanted to kill his daughter. But he never expected that it would happen this quickly. Not that it really matters. Iris was nothing. Not anymore. Not since Barry Allen chose Caitlin Snow over the reporter. Not that he cared who Barry was with. All he cared about was killing Barry Allen and now making sure his offspring hate him as much as he does.

Wally walked into his dad's house to find him on the couch with a bottle of bourbon staring at a picture of Iris. Cecile came out of the kitchen and hugged him.

"He's not taking Iris's death very well." Said Cecile

"It is a shock. It was Caitlin's dad that killed her? I thought that he was dead." Said Wally

"Thomas Snow with the help of his wife faked his death. It was to protect Caitlin. The treatment that he developed to treat his ALS is what turned him into the male version of Killer Frost. Only his alternate personality is truly evil. I don't have all the details. I was just given the cliff notes version of things." Said Cecile

"Why would Caitlin's dad want to kill Iris?" asked Wally

"Because she escaped the hospital and was going after Caitlin. She still wanted to kill Caitlin." Said Joe

"Dad, you don't blame Caitlin do you?" asked Wally

"No son I don't. Caitlin risked her life to save Iris seven months ago. Iris repaid her by plotting to kill her. We will bury your sister and then move on. Caitlin is not to blame for what that monster did." Said Joe

"You do realize that Caitlin will blame herself." Said Wally

"Then we need to make sure that she knows we don't blame her." Said Joe

Caitlin led Barry into her apartment. Barry went and sat on the couch while she went into the kitchen. She pulled a couple bowls out of the cupboard placed them on the counter. She then turned on the oven and pulled some garlic bread out of the freezer and put it on a baking tray. She shoved it in the oven and set the timer. She then went to stir the chili she had cooking in the slow cooker on low heat all day. Barbara had promised to call if they got a lead on Thawne.

"Barry dinner will be ready in a few minutes. You are going to eat. You need to be at your strongest to take on Thawne." Said Caitlin

"I know. The chili smells good. You made it yourself didn't you?"

"Of course. That stuff out of the can is gross. Besides I haven't found a restaurant chili that your babies like."

Barry let out a soft chuckle.

"Iris hated spicy food."

"Well I tend to eat and drink more warm or hot things since my powers became active. Spicy just adds to the heat."

"You absorb heat to use your powers right?"

"Yeah. How did you know?"

"One night when I was sleeping on your couch about a month ago I read some of your mom's research on your powers. Didn't understand all of it."

"Yeah mom can get very technical in her research. I am glad she didn't go into teaching. She never would have lasted."

"I don't think Thawne is going to make a move until after Iris is buried. Maybe not until after the babies are born. Some how I think that he has a plan for them. I am convinced he knows about them."

"Of course he knows."

Just then the timer went off. Barry made Caitlin sit at the table and he pulled the garlic bread out of the oven. He cut it and then served the chili. He grabbed sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese out of the refrigerator and placed them on the table.

"So what are you drinking tonight Dr. Snow?"

"Milk. It's good for the babies. I recommend you have some too. I did make this chili kind of spicy."

"Coming right up."

Barry poured two glasses of milk then sat down next to Caitlin. Caitlin started to eat her chili. Barry took a bite of his chili after adding cheese and sour cream to his. Caitlin smiled as she watched Barry's eyes start to water.

"I told you it was spicy." Said Caitlin

"You did warn me. But this is really good. Better than Joe's. Not that he made it very often."

"Well if Iris didn't like spicy food I wouldn't think so."

"Cait, you don't need to take care of me."

"I know. Barry we should think about moving into the house soon."

"I already had the furniture you picked out delivered. So whenever you are ready we can move in."

"Thanks Barry. So after Iris's funeral."

"Yeah."

They finished dinner. Then Barry cleaned the kitchen at super speed. Caitlin went to change into her pajamas. Which at this moment were a pair of Barry's sweatpants and one of his Star labs t-shirts he had left at her apartment after spending the night. She walked out of her bedroom and Barry smiled at her.

"Have I told you how sexy you look in my clothes?" asked Barry

"Not that I recall. But I can tell you that I don't feel sexy. I am six months pregnant with triplets. Barry, after I lost Ronnie, I had pretty much given up on the idea of having my own family."

"Cait, I know that your life hasn't been easy. But I promise that I am not going to leave you again."

"Barry, that is a promise you know you can't keep. If it comes down to saving this city or yourself you will save this city even at the cost of your own life. Just like Ronnie did. That is because you are a hero, and you will put keeping me, our children and everyone else you love and care about before your own life. That is something I can live with. Because I know that you will make that sacrifice out of love."

"Cait, if something like that happens promise me that you will go on living. You won't even think about giving up on life."

"Barry, I am going to have three kids that will need me and would need to know all about their daddy."

Barry kissed Caitlin and soon they made their way to the bedroom. They slowly undressed each other.

"Barry make love to me." Said Caitlin

"Are you sure?"

"Yes. Barry, it has been a long time since anyone made love to me. Before you ask the babies will not be hurt."

"If you are sure."

"Never been more sure of anything in my life."

Barry smiled and kissed her deeply. It was an hour later that Caitlin was curled up in Barry's arms sleeping peacefully. Barry soon fell to sleep with the woman he loved.
