HONEY
Eleven year old Ty Lee was looking at the most beautiful girl in the world, summer longing on the wind, fireworks bursting in the night sky, so bright they darkened out the stars. She was looking at the most beautiful girl in the world, and that girl was reaching for her hand.
She had honey on her hands.
In her hair too. And her face. Spirits, even her eyes.
But Azula was offering to hold her hand for the first and possibly last time and those hands were sticky with honey.
Ty Lee could not breathe.
This was not happening. This was not happening. This was not happening.
She couldn't refuse Azula. That would have disastrous consequences.
Ty Lee broke out into a heavy sweat from her panic, only serving to make matters worse.
Azula took her hand and Ty Lee cringed, her heart racing.
There was no way Azula would react well to honey on her royal hands.
But she didn't mention it or even make a face. She just calmly held Ty Lee's hand and watched the fireworks from the royal balcony side by side with her best friend and secret crush, honey and all.
Ty Lee had never been so happy and relieved in her entire young life.
