Chapter 50

With Callie and Arizona out on maternity leave, Amber and Lexie were handling the preliminary hiring for the new clinic. They were sifting through stacks and stacks of applications. They needed a few physical therapists, some nurses, and a reception staff. A total of around ten to fifteen people. The four of them would be handling most, if not all, of the actual surgical side of the clinic and could call in some of their hospital friends if needed. Today, they were focusing on finding some physical therapists.

'What do you think, Amber, should we have a physical therapist each?' Lexie asked.

'I think that sounds good. So we need to narrow down these thirty applicants down to four. No problem.' Amber said. Everybody was pretty well qualified and narrowing down their search was proving to be a not so easy task. 'Do we use the ones with more experience or the ones that are fresh out of school and know the most up to date techniques?'

'I have no idea. This woman has been at the same job for years. That shows she can keep a job. I like that she has a good work history. It also says that she is taking classes at the college to further her education. So she's focused. She sounds like she could be a real asset to have around.' Lexie said.

'It sounds like it. Let's put her in the pile to show Callie and Arizona.' There was something else that Amber wanted to talk to Lexie about. There really wasn't a right time to bring it up, so she just went for it. 'Lex… I, um. I went to a lawyer the other day. When I said I had some errands to run.'

'Yeah? What for?' she asked looking up.

'I asked about you adopting the kids. Like, for real. I got all the information in my car. Is that something you want or do you just want them to call you Mommy?' Amber asked. She wasn't really sure why she was nervous asking her girlfriend about this, but her voice came out shaky.

Lexie placed her hand over Amber's and squeezed. 'Of course I want to adopt them. They are my babies. I love them. Nothing would make me happier to officially be their mother.'

'Ok, well, we can fill out the paperwork tonight and I can drop it off again tomorrow at their office. He said that there would be a few home visits and some one on one questioning, but he didn't see a reason why it should be denied. Especially given the, uh, circumstances.' Tyler was still a very sore subject and Amber had a hard time talking about him or Liza no matter how many times Lexie tried to get her to open up about them.

'Good.'

'It seems like it may take a couple of months, but it'll all be worth it. Maci and Riley Grey. I like the way that sounds. Don't you?'

'Grey? You want them to have my name?' Lexie was shocked at this information.

'Yeah. I want them to be Greys. I would like for all of us to be Greys one day. We've been together how long now and how many times have you seen my mother? Once? Twice maybe? I have spent many nights at Grey family dinners. The Greys have spent time with Maci and Riley. Thatcher and Susan want to be called Grandma and Pop Pop. Why would I want them to be Mitchell when the Greys have grown to mean so much more to any of us?' Amber said looking into Lexie's watering eyes. She couldn't bring herself to say anything. Instead she hooked her hand around Amber's neck and pulled her in for a kiss.

When she pulled away, she started giggling. 'What's so funny?'

'Maci Grey… like the singer!' Lexie said through fits of laughter. 'I love it!'

'I love it too. Let's get through these applications so we can head home. We have some very important papers to fill out tonight.'

Callie and Arizona were finally finding their rhythm with the twins. Levi was always the first to wake in the mornings. He was already a morning person like Arizona. Naya was more laid back. She liked to look around and take everything in. But she also loved to sleep. She definitely took after Callie in that regard.

Callie was feeding Levi in the rocking chair. She could just stare at her kids all day. She was a mother! Some days she still couldn't believe it. Her life was complete, unless they decided to have more children. Her life was complete, for now. She looked into his eyes as he suckled. He had black hair like hers, but blue eyes like Arizona. The donor that they chose had blonde hair and blue eyes. He had dimples and a good family medical history. She really hoped that her kids would inherit the dimples. She was a sucker for Arizona's. Levi started slowing down indicating that his tummy was getting full. She picked him up and started patting his back gently to coax a burp out. Arizona walked into the room with Naya who had just woken up.

'Baby girl is hungry now, Calliope. I can take over burping him so that she can get her fill too.' Callie nodded and Naya was placed in her arms. Arizona carefully took her son and swayed back and forth patting on his back. 'I think we might finally be getting the hang of this. So far, we haven't had any major catastrophes. No diaper blowouts. We just aren't sleeping as much as we want.'

'You know I like my sleep. That really has been the hardest part in all of this. And when they are crying at the same time. I'm really glad that we have this time together. I don't know if I could handle this alone.' Callie said.

'You could. You are a strong woman, Calliope. I bet you could handle this on your own, but you will never have to. We are a team. Forever.' Levi let out an impressive burp causing both women to laugh. 'He gets that from you, Calliope!'

'I do not burp like that! That is all Robbins!'

'We are going to agree to disagree on this one. Let me make sure that he has a clean diaper. What do you want to eat for breakfast? My specialties are yogurt, cereal, or I can go get something greasy. Your call.' Arizona asked from the doorway.

'How about I make us a nice breakfast once I get her fed?' Callie asked.

'That sounds so much better. I'll meet you downstairs. I'll have your decaf ready for you.'

'You're the best!'

Callie made her way down the stairs after getting Naya into her outfit for the day. She placed her in the swing next to her brother and walked into the kitchen where Arizona was pouring some cream into her coffee. She wrapped her arms around her wife and placed a sweet kiss on her neck. Arizona turned in her arms and hugged her wife closer. They brought their lips together softly. Arizona poked her tongue out and ran it along Callie's bottom lip. Callie eagerly allowed her access as their tongues danced together. They made out many times over the course of their relationship, but it always made them feel like it was the first time.

Callie pulled back first. 'We better calm down.' she said resting her forehead against Arizona's.

'You're right… it's going to be a long couple of weeks, isn't it?'

'It is. I can't keep my hands off of you.'

'I know what you mean. You are like sex on legs, Calliope.' Arizona said.

'You need to stop looking at me like that. I'm going to start making breakfast. That shouldn't be too sexy.' Callie said.

'Have you seen yourself in the kitchen?' Callie shot Arizona a pointed look. 'Alright, alright. I'll just sit at the bar and keep my thoughts to myself.'

Callie got out the pots and pans she needed to make them some eggs and bacon. She flipped on the radio. It was a song that she had not heard in awhile, but always put her in the mood to dance. She plopped some bread into the toaster and started shaking her hips and singing.

Let me take you dancing
Two-step to the bedroom
We don't need no dance floor
Let me see your best move

Callie's musical abilities made Arizona swell with pride and a little bit of lust. Callie's voice was perfectly harmonized with that of Jason DeRulo's. It turned her on like nothing else. 'Just a few more more weeks.' she thought over and over.

Anything could happen

Ever since I met you
No need to imagine
Baby, all I'm asking
Is let me take you dancing

Callie was unaware of the hungry look that Arizona had in her eyes while sitting behind her. She turned to grab a plate from the breakfast island and caught Arizona staring. Callie could tell that her eyes were a darker blue than usual.

'Arizona… behave. Our babies are sitting right over there.' Callie warned her wife.

'You just have no idea what you do to me, Calliope. You make everything. I mean EVERYTHING look incredibly sexy. And that voice. Baby, you are simply irresistible.'

Callie thought about it for a moment before she had an idea. She removed the bacon from the pan and turned the burner off on the stove. 'Come here.' She told her wife hooking her finger towards her. Arizona got up and made her way over to her wife's waiting arms. Callie pulled Arizona over to the garage door. It gave them privacy, but they could still hear if the twins started crying.

'You're going to have to be very, very quiet Arizona. Very quiet.' Callie whispered as she attached her lips to Arizona's neck. Arizona leaned her head back. God, her wife knew exactly what to do. Every single time. She moaned softly and felt Callie slip her hand inside her pants. Her fingers rubbing small circles on Arizona's clit.

'Oh Callie. That feels so good.' Arizona whispered as Callie continued the assault along her neck and clit. She pulled back slightly and loved the look of pleasure on her wife's face.

'You like that? Do you like it better when I'm inside of you?' she whispered.

Arizona nodded and braced herself against the wall as Callie entered her with three fingers. 'Jesus!' she yelped.

'I told you that you have to be quiet Arizona. If you wake our children, you will have to wait for release. I know how bad you want this. I can feel how wet you are. Is this all for me? Do I make you this wet?' Callie whispered attaching her lips to Arizona's neck again.

'Only you Calliope. I'm gonna come, Baby. I'm so close.' Callie flicked Arizona's clit with her thumb and it wasn't long before her wife was shuddering in her arms. She kissed her lips to stifle the small moans that Arizona made while riding out her high. She slowed her movements and pulled her fingers out of her pants. Arizona slumped forward and rested her head against Callie's shoulder. 'Thank you, but what about you?'

'We'll figure something out. Maybe you'll just have to make up for six weeks of abstinence on my part.' Callie smirked at her wife and kissed her again. They both looked down as Callie's stomach let out a huge growl. 'Now I really need to get breakfast finished. I am starving.'

Empty Chinese food containers littered the table in the living room later that night when Amber and Lexie came over with their physical therapist picks for the new clinic.

'We were able to narrow it down to ten that we believe are the most qualified for the position. Look through them and let us know what you think. I have a few favorites in mind and Lexie does too. Just pick your favorites and see if they match with ours.' Amber said gathering the Chinese containers. She threw them in the trash and went about cleaning up her children's faces and hands. After they were clean, Maci and Riley started watching a movie and playing with the toys they brought with them.

Lexie was holding Naya. She was asleep and content in her arms. It made Amber smile to see her girlfriend with a tiny baby. After their talk, it was all she could picture. She wanted to put a ring on Lexie's finger first though. She had a plan. She just had to wait until the right time to do it.

Callie and Arizona were busy looking through the applications. Callie picked up an application. Once she saw the name on it, she immediately put it in the NO pile. Arizona looked up and gave a questioning look to her wife. She picked up the quickly discarded application and looked it over. 'What's wrong with her Calliope?'

'I just don't think she is right for the job. That's all…Amber, can I talk to you? Over there?' she asked pointing to the kitchen.

Amber nodded and got up. They walked into the kitchen. 'Why did you bring Erica Hahn's application?' Callie asked quietly.

'Who?' Amber asked.

'Erica Hahn… you know the girl I was seeing a few years ago.'

'I don't remember Erica Hahn, Callie.'

'The one who left me with no warning. No text message. Not even a fuck you, see you later. The one where I came home that one night and gave you this.' Callie said as she pointed to the scar on Amber's neck. It was a crescent shaped scar from when she bit her and drew blood from their days back in med school.

'Ohhhh, I remember Erica now. I'm sorry Cal. It didn't even register with me. I remember how much that hurt though. You fucking vampire.' Amber said rubbing her neck.

'You mind telling me what you are whispering about in there?' Lexie asked.

'No to Erica Hahn, Babe. Callie has a history with her.' Amber called into the living room. 'Sorry. I know she was one of your picks.'

'Yeah, no to Erica Hahn. Having you around is enough. I don't need two ex whatevers running around me.' Arizona laughed out, placing the application back in the NO pile. Amber stuck her tongue out at the other woman creating another round of laughter from everyone.

Thanks for reading. I love hearing from you. I hope everyone has a great weekend.
