"When was the last time you were at a wedding?" Harry Potter's maid of honor asked his best man.
"I think it was before I went to Hogwarts. Some cousin's cousin or something gran knew. What about you?"
"Bill and Fleur's wedding" Hermione sighed, " it was a lovely wedding, but it was only a temporary escape from the war"
"I wish I could have been there. Busy fighting" Neville gave her a sad smile. "Do they usually have a maid and a best man for each?"
"No, this is special" Her happy face turned to the dance floor, where Harry Potter was beaming up at Ron Weasley.
"Any…bad feelings about Ron marrying someone else?" Neville asked quietly.
"No, not any more. I want him happy, and with Harry I've never seen him happier. And I want Harry happier, and Ron is more special to him than anyone else. Besides, I have a date"
"I can't believe you asked me out-"
"We've been friends for 10 years and you've special to me, and I know how you feel about me"
"I thought the war had taught me to be more subtle"
"I can read you like a book, and you're a great book to read"
"Coming from you, that means so much" he flushed.
"That's what I like about you-you know what I like"
Neville couldn't help himself, leaning over the table, his salad half-finished, to kiss Hermione.
His eyes were still closed and his forehead still brushed by her curly bangs when he stopped the kiss "I'm sorry"
"Don't apologize. Don't stop"
"Say when" And he continued the kiss. He had completely forgotten they were still at the wedding reception.
Ginny was the first to notice, and yanked on Ron's sleeve as soon as he sat down.
"Hm?" Ron's attention was finally taken away from his husband.
"You know how Hermione and Neville went together for the wedding? Well, maybe you'd want to know….." she smirked, tossing her fiery head at the other table.
Ron laughed as soon as he saw, "I guess he's a bit of a swot himself. Oi Harry, did you see how Hermione's doing?"
Harry turned to look at the table, then did a double take, making Ron laugh harder.
