I feel I should address the recent trend of reviews, which seem to be happy that things between Stoick and Hiccup are getting better. May I remind you, theres still a ways to go before we even get to the movie, so things are going to get worse... I just thought it would be a bit of reprieve to give them some good moments before it gets really bad, to the point that eventually leads to the disowning in film. So don't get your hopes up just yet mwahahaha...

Entry 49

I still have no definitive answer on if my dad is happy or not.

It's been several days since Snoggletog, and here's what I've gathered:

-he hung the hammer on the wall Snoggletog night.

-he remarked how nice it looked

-he thanked me again

-and he hasn't touched it since

...Does he think I made it for decorative purposes only? If that's all it is, I can fix that easily. I'll just tell him I made it to be an actual weapon.

Well, I explained to him that it actually is usable as a real hammer, but the answer I got is a little confusing.

He said he knew that, but just didn't want to ruin the gesture by messing it up through use. I replied that it wouldn't GET messed up through use, because I made it well. He said he just didn't want to take any chances. I said that there were no chances to take. He said I had no way of knowing that. I said nothing else because it was clear his mind was made up.

So why DOESN'T he want to use it for its intended purpose? I can't imagine he truly thinks I did a bad job… if I had, he would have SAID SO, rather than give me false compliments. So why is so attached to that original, old hammer?

I'll ask him tomorrow… today might be pushing my luck a bit too far.

Until next time…

-H

And there's the other half of your suggestion! I did tweak it a little, just so it can segway into my own ideas next chapter, but I hope you still liked it :)
