She stopped in front of another picture and again caressed the faces of the people inside. He only just realized it was another picture of the boy and of Rin. His heart tightened in his chest as she showed the same loving attention to Rin as she did to the fox child. He couldn't help himself, didn't want to believe that she had loved as he had loved. But it was right. So very right that for the first time since his daughter's death, something inside of him lightened and he started to forgive.

"We were coming up on an intersection and I knew it was a chance I couldn't pass up, that it might have been the only chance I would have. We were in the turn when I threw myself at him, hoping to force him to crash." Kagome chanced a look at him and smiled softly, knowing what he was thinking. If only it were that easy, if only he could still place the blame on her. "It didn't work; he was stronger than I remembered and I was already weak, already sliding into the dark. And I didn't see the knife."

She shook her head and Sesshoumaru frowned. He had thought for sure she was going to say they crashed into Kagura's car and it was her fault Rin was dead. Her smile threw him off guard and he clenched his fists; it wasn't a feeling he liked having.
