SmackDown: 22/11/2001

SmackDown was live at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, North Carolina. with Michael Cole and Jerry "The King" Lawler calling the action. The announce team announced a stellar match that would take place later in the evening. The Gravy Bowl Invitational would feature Trish Stratus defending her Women's Championship against Stacy Keibler in a huge pool of gravy!

But before the crowd could eat up that match, the new co-owner of the World Wrestling Federation, Ric Flair came to the ring. The Nature Boy wished the crowd happy Thanksgiving and said that everyone has something to be thankful for. Flair said he was thankful that he bet on the winning team at Survivor Series. Now, as co-owner of the Federation, Flair said he had huge news. On December 9, the date of the Federation's Vengeance Pay-Per-View, Stone Cold Steve Austin would face The Rock!

Before Flair could go any farther, Mr. McMahon joined his business partner in the ring. Mr. McMahon said he wanted to extend the opportunity for the fans to thank Kurt Angle. But instead of a round of thanks, only boos could be heard echoing throughout the arena.

Mr. McMahon then turned to Ric Flair and said the idea of Stone Cold facing The Rock at Vengeance was a great idea. On that day, everyone would see which of the two superstars is the better man. But Mr. McMahon said that if he were The Rock, he would love to get his hands on Y2J. And, Mr. McMahon continued, if he were Kurt Angle he would love to get his hands on Stone Cold. Therefore, Mr. McMahon said that The Rock should face Y2J at Vengeance while Stone Cold could face Kurt Angle. The winner of each match would face off later that seem evening with the victor becoming the undisputed champion!

Flair loved the idea, but Vince had more issues he wanted to address. He said he was over the fact that Flair revealed himself as the Federation co-owner live on RAW, but he was not over the fact that he believed Flair knew Stone Cold was in the building that evening. He reminded Flair that when Austin was beating Kurt Angle, he came to the Olympic Hero's aid while the Nature Boy merely watched. Mr. McMahon said that if he and Flair were 50-50 partners, then Flair would have to jump in and help him out as well.

Flair removed his jacket and danced around the ring. He told Mr. McMahon that, like he said on RAW, he would be the limousine ridin', jet flyin' business partner of Mr. McMahon! But, Flair added, Vince would have to learn how to say, "Wooooo!"

Backstage, Coach asked Trish why she would agree to defend her title in a huge bowl of gravy. Trish responded that she wasn't afraid to get nasty and that she would take on anyone in any kind of match.

Coach nodded. "There is also something everyone has been wanting to know, why did you appear during the Wolfpack vs Dudley Boyz match this past Monday on RAW?"

Trish smirked. "Let's just say the Bladewolf and I have been talking these past few days since Monday about that. I won't say anything else."

With that, she walks away.

After the first break of the evening, Test took on Scotty 2 Hotty. Test, who earned a spot in Survivor Series' immunity battle royal by attacking Scotty, used his size to take control of this match early on.

A powerful suplex got Test a two-count, but Scotty recovered and hit Test with a dropkick off the middle turnbuckle. He dropped Test with a superkick, hit a bulldog and launched into the WORM! But Test shoved Scotty away with his feet at the last possible second. A stiff Big Boot moments later gave Test the win.

Backstage, Sharmell Sullivan asked Tazz why he was back in the Federation. Tazz said it was simple. Mr. McMahon hired him back because of the way he handled Paul Heyman last week. Tazz said Mr. McMahon hired him back as an announcer and a wrestler. Before he could go any further, Funaki stumbled in laughing hysterically. He mocked Tazz for losing to the "kiss ass man" on RAW. Tazz smiled and laughed then began pounding Funaki into submission. Big Show stumbled in and told Tazz to pick on someone his own size. Tazz said that Big Show was just the right size. Big Show told Tazz to try him and Tazz accepted a match later in the night, calling the Big Show "little man" before walking away.

Kurt Angle wished Mr. McMahon happy Thanksgiving in Vince's office. Kurt said that he was upset at all the people in the world who were not thankful for himself, an Olympic champion and a role model for children everywhere. He said they should mostly be thankful for how Kurt saved the Federation at Survivor Series. He thanked Vince for the chance to become a champion at Vengeance. He opened his arms in a hug, but Mr. McMahon just stood with his arms folded and said, "You're welcome." Angle went on to call Austin an ingrate and promised to take him down at Vengeance. Christian knocked on the door and came in bearing a cart loaded with a turkey and all the trimmings. Christian began saying how he was so happy that they all could be together for the holiday in the World Wrestling Federation, but Undertaker came in and caused Christian to scurry away.

Taker said he had something to say to Mr. McMahon in private. Kurt became agitated, saying that Taker should be grateful to him, but Mr. McMahon assured him that he'd be ok and Kurt left the room. Mr. McMahon asked why Taker wasn't at RAW on Monday to celebrate. Taker said he was having his own celebration. Taker said that during his 11 years in the Federation, he always had Mr. McMahon's back even though the two often didn't see eye to eye. He ordered Mr. McMahon to explain his relationship with Kurt Angle. He was upset that Vince didn't come to him to make sure the Federation stayed alive after Survivor Series. Mr. McMahon said he had faith in Taker as he had been a main eventer for 11 years. In fact, Mr. McMahon thought Taker should be in a big match that evening on SmackDown! He said that Taker would go one on one with Kurt Angle. Taker asked if Mr. McMahon was sure he wanted to do that to "his boy." Mr. McMahon said Kurt was not his boy, but Taker said he knew better. Mr. McMahon asked why he would make this match if Kurt was in fact his boy. Taker didn't look convinced. He told Mr. McMahon that his boy was going down.

After commercial, Tazz came to the ring to face the Big Show. Big Show began pounding on Tazz before he even got in the ring. Once inside the squared circle, Big Show continued to dominate. WIth Tazz in the corner, Show turned his back and started ramming the man from Red Hook. Tazz responded by stepping on the second turnbuckle and slapping on the Tazzmission! Big Show stumbled around the ring with Tazz gripping his throat, finally making his way to the center of the ring. Show fell over backward which caused Tazz to break the hold. Show remained slumped over Tazz and stayed long enough to get a pin.

Back in his office, Mr. McMahon indulged on the Thanksgiving meal with Christian by his side. Kurt broke in and angrily said that he would beat a 'thank you' out of Undertaker that evening. He turned to leave and William Regal entered. Christian got up to get some cider and Regal sat down in his place. Mr. McMahon said he had a favor to ask that wasn't like what he asked Regal to do on Monday. He whispered into Regal's ear. Regal looked astonished and couldn't believe what Mr. McMahon had asked. But he agreed and said he would do the task bloody well.

Kurt Angle and the Undertaker squared off next. Taker initially took control by dismantling Angle with a few clotheslines.

When Kurt mounted a rally, he dropped the Olympic Hero with a boot to the face then threw him from the ring. Outside the ropes, Angle slung Taker into the ring post to take over control. He put Taker back inside the ring and gave him three straight belly-to-back suplexes, but he couldn't pin the American Bad Ass. Taker came back with a cross body and a clothesline to Kurt in the corner. Taker grabbed Kurt for a chokeslam, but Angle turned Taker into the Ankle Lock! Taker writhed in pain in the center of the ring, but he refused to tap. He stood up groggily to break the hold then hit Kurt with a chokeslam! The Ankle Lock took its toll, though, as Taker promptly fell to the mat. He stood himself up, grabbed Angle and put him in the Ankle Lock! Angle reached the ropes, but Taker refused to break the hold. Suddenly, Mr. McMahon sprinted into the ring with a steel chair! He went to strike Taker in the back, but the American Bad Ass turned around and stopped Vince with an icy glare. The two stared into each other's eyes from inches away for several moments. Taker grabbed the chair and tossed it away without breaking his gaze. He then slowly turned away and left on his motorcycle as Vince began to smile.

After a break, William Regal came down the entrance ramp and took the microphone in the middle of the ring.

Regal said that since it was Thanksgiving in America, he was thankful for being British and he was very thankful that he had the honor of getting on his knees and kissing Mr. McMahon's backside on RAW. He told the crowd that they would have done the same thing if put in his position. Everyone was jealous, Regal said, because he did it better than anyone else could have. Regal then called out the man that was responsible for the Federation triumphing over the Alliance at Survivor Series: Stone Cold Steve Austin! Regal ordered Austin to come to the ring several times before the Rattlesnake complied.

Regal began to state his purpose for calling Austin down, but Stone Cold grabbed the microphone. He told Regal several times to explain himself. Regal began to but each time, Stone Cold whipped the microphone away and said, "What!?" He then held a handerchief over his nose and said it smelled like crap in there! Austin then said he had a present for Regal. He produced a handful of gum in which he told Regal to stuff in his mouth because his breath stinks! He then pulled out stome Altoids, which angered Regal even more. Austin covered his nose again and said it smelled like Regal at the ass end of a skunk! He asked Regal if he got enjoyment out of kissing Mr. McMahon's ass. Regal looked confused and didn't answer. Austin asked if Regal had washed his face, brushed his teeth, used mouthwash, Scope, Listerine, beer, whiskey, perfume. Each suggestion was followed by a loud, "What!?" from the crowd. Austin said he he and Regal had something in common. Regal was in the kiss ass club and Austin was in the whoop ass club! Regal angrily grabbed the microphone and began blaming Stone Cold for losing at Survivor Series. Austin interrupted by giving Regal a Stone Cold Stunner! He continued to pound on Regal until Christian, Test and the Dudley Boyz came in and beat their former leader into submission. The Dudley Boyz gave Austin a 3D followed with some stiff kicks from Regal. Regal then applied his Regal stretch to the already beaten Rattlesnake. After handing out some more stiff blows, Austin's former Alliance teammates receeded backstage.

After a break, those same former Alliance members met congratulations in Mr. McMahon's office. To show his appreciation, he allowed Christian to take on Edge for the Intercontinental Championship. Mr. McMahon asked what happened to Rob Van Dam. D-Von answered that RVD heard what Mr. McMahon wanted to do and RVD said that he couldn't care less. This brought a devilish smile to Mr. McMahon's face.

He then said that the Dudley Boyz get their rematch against the Wolfpack for the Tag Team Titles tonight.

Next up was the Gravy Bowl Invitational that pitted Stacy Keibler against Trish Stratus for the Women's Championship. Stacy sat down at a table that sat next to the huge pool of gravy and was loaded with a complete Thanksgiving dinner. Trish also sat down but was met with a fistful of mashed potatos that Stacy had flung. Trish got up and smashed Stacy over the head with the entire bowl!

Food began flying everywhere as this battle heated up. Trish flung Stacy into the pool of gravy and followed to start the match. After a lot of splashes, Trish powerbombed Stacy then applied a submission hold that caused the challenger to tap out! Trish triumphantly crawled out of the pool and adjusted her dress before leaving a ticked-off Stacy Keibler splashing in the pool. Before Stacy made her exit, she angrily pushed the referee into the pool!

Matt Hardy and Lita watched a replay of the cage match at Survivor Series in the locker room. Lita suddenly turned it off and said she was sick of looking at it. Matt complained that he didn't undertand why Jeff took such a stupid risk when he could have easily won the match. Jeff walked in holding an ice pack on his neck. Jeff said he was sorry, but Matt cut him off and said the two should have won. Jeff said he was sorry and he made a mistake. Matt said that Jeff didn't make a mistake, he made a choice. He accused Jeff of being selfish and being a showboat. Matt said that Jeff made a very bad decision and Lita then asked Matt about the decisions he had made recently about their relationship. Lita said that Matt was acting like a different person. Lita said that sometimes there were more important things in life than being in the ring: things like family and being in love. With that, Lita abruptly turned and left. Matt and Jeff exchanged dirty looks before Matt took off after his girlfriend.

The Intercontinental Championshp was on the line with Edge battling Christian. Christian took momentum early on by smashing Edge's face into the turnbuckle and delivering several shots to Edge's face. Edge stormed back with a spinning kick and some punches of his own. Christian came back and tried to land the Unprettier, but Edge blocked the move. Moments later, Edge hit the Downward Spiral but it only produced a two-count. Christian flung Edge into the corner, knocking the ref from the ring in the process. Christian used the opportunity to land a low blow and the Unprettier! Edge managed to kick out, however, and an enraged Christian brought a chair into the ring. Edge moved just as Christian was about to put the steel to his face. Edge kicked it back and slammed it onto Christian's head. Suddenly, Test stormed in and began pounding on Edge, ending the match in a disqualification. Christian followed up with the Unprettier that slammed Edge onto the steel chair.

Next up was the Wolfpack vs the Dudley Boyz rematch from RAW with the Tag Team Titles on the line.

In the arena, the Dudley Boyz' theme hits and out they come, determined to win back their WWF World Tag Team Championships. They walk down the ramp and enter the ring and their theme dies down.

OOOOOWHOOOOOO!

'Hey man, we came to conquer and divide!'

Omen in the Sky plays to a pop and out comes the Wolfpack with the WWF World Tag Team Championships around their waists. The duo begin their walk down the ramp with glares on their faces as the Dudleys glare back at them.

"A lot of animosity and hostility between these two teams." Michael Cole pointed out. "They've battled in the past, with the Dudleys being beaten for the Wolfpack to win their first WWF Tag Team Title reign."

"Yeah, but the Dudleys have the chance to win the titles back tonight." Jerry pointed out to him. "The Wolfpack may be saying goodbye to those titles."

"We'll see, King." Cole said.

The Wolfpack climb onto the ring apron and enter the ring, staring down the Dudley boyz as they take their tag team titles off and hand them to the referee who holds them up as the Wolfpack's theme dies down.

Jackal gets out onto the ring apron, as does Bubba Ray.

'Ding! Ding! Ding!'

"Matchup underway and it;s the Bladewolf starting it off with D-Von Dudley." Cole said.

Bladewolf and D-Von circle one another before they lock up and have a test of strength then Bladewolf suddenly lifted D-Von up, runs and drives him into the corner, driving his shoulder into D-Von's stomach multiple times before he knocks D-Von down with a hard right hand. Bladeowlf then uppercuts D-Von before headbutting him.

"Deadly Bladewolf is." Jerry said. "Those fists of his have busted many men open through the last few years Bladewolf has been here."

"Bladewolf wants to be feared and he has done just that to many superstars." Cole said.

Bladeowlf unloads with lefts and rights on D-Von before landing another uppercut, flooring D-Von. Bladewolf picks D-Von up and hits a belly-to-belly suplex across the ring. Bladewolf gets to his feet and walks over to D-Von, dragging him by the arm and tags in Jackal. Bladewolf holds D-Von's arms up, allowing Jackal to start stomping away on D-Von's chest.

"The Wolfpack are doing good, keeping a member of the Dudleys isolated and unable to tag in his partner." Cole said. "And this is what can make the Wolfpack dangerous, if they can keep a man down from tagging in his partner, then victory will be theirs."

Bladewolf gets onto the apron as Jackal grabs D-Von and pulls him to his feet before dropping him with a clothesline. Jackal rebounds off the ropes and hits an elbow drop on D-Von before he suddenly runs...AND SUPERKICKS BUBBA RAY OFF THE APRON!

"Oh!" Cole and Jerry exclaimed.

Bladeowlf enters the ring as D-Von stumbles to his feet and turns around as Bladewolf lifts him up into a Flapjack...AND JACKAL HITSA CUTTER! THEY JUST HIT 3D!

"3D?! They just hit the Dudleys' own finisher on D-Von Dudley!" Cole shouted.

Jackal goes for the cover! ONE! TWO! THREE! THE WOLFPACK RETAINS!

'Ding! Ding! Ding!'

Omen in the Sky plays as the Wolfpack rolls out the ring. "Here are your winners and STILL WWF Tag Team Champions...THE WOLFPACK!" The referee hands them their titles and the Wolfpack raises them as the crowd cheers for them.

"Say what you want about them, but the Wolfpack are dominant." Cole said. "You may not agree with their methods of winning just there, but they remain champions as a result of it."

"I think this will be one of the most dominant duo to walk into a WWF ring." Jerry said.

The Bladewolf and Jackal turn and head up the ramp with their titles in hand.

And that's it for this chapter. I hope you all loved it and enjoyed the match between the Wolfpack and the Dudley Boyz.
