Beau: Chapter Fifty-One

"The village!" The girl shouts. The sun has set and is now becoming pitch dark.

After being attacked by the Zimadu. My body is beaten and sore... But something inside me awoke. I have no idea what it was. The mag stream I conjured up blasted the Zimadu's mouth killing it instantly. I haven't seen or done anything powerful like that before. I shake my head as I need to focus on all my energy to get us to safety.

Iolene and I ran as fast as we could. Her holding onto my back as hard as she could. As a safety measure, I use my mag abilities to hold her in place. Like her, I don't want to be in the hands of those people.

The creepy human following us in pursuit. We managed to reach the village. Iolene with what money she had bought fabrics and rushing around making strange ointments. She had to work under a flame lamp in the dark. And I'm impressed with how concentrated she gets.

"It'll be okay Beau... Is that your name? Please nod yes if it is!" As she begins to wipe and cleans my body. smothering my body in the weird sludge-like substance like she did with my feet. It stings but she keeps saying it'll help. She is remaining surprisingly calm in this scenario. When it comes to battle, she is terrible and freaks. But when she is treating the injured it looks like she knows what she is doing. I nod yes to her. My name is Beau. That's how they say it in the human tongue anyway.

"It's a great name. Really suits you! It means beautiful!" She tells me with kindness as she tends to my wounds. Has she not looked at me? I'm a monster. I don't even recognise myself... I don't even know what I am doing anymore. I need to get home... But right now, it feels impossible. And why is this human girl still being so kind to me? She's human, why do I not feel like she is going to entrap me and force me to do work against my will?

The villagers surround us in curiosity for a short period and then mind their own business. They obviously don't care for an Inclementian dragon. Unlike the other village, this one is smaller with not many people around. We cannot be here for long! The smaller village it is... The worst it is, and we stand out in a crowd.

Iolene keeps talking to me non-stop throughout this whole process. She does this a lot now ever since she started tendering my feet. Which I won't lie have gotten much better since she has started treating them.

"There!" As Iolene finishes cleaning and applying the healing sludge. "We need to find a place to rest." We both look around the village it looks like they're all homes... No inn's, no mansions no nothing. This is troubling... And we have no idea when Sly is going to arrive. I gently nudge Iolene and she faces me.

"What is it, Beau?" She asks worryingly. I look forward. Trying my best to tell her we should leave immediately. Eventually, she got the hint and agrees. I kneel for her to get onto my back. She stumbles as she is not used to riding a dragon. I am not used to having a human on me by choice. Oleander sat on me with such force I couldn't mag force her off. Which gave me the hint she is a master of draconium arts.

We ride off away from the village in the dark. I couldn't see where I was going and Iolene is talking nervously.

"Beau this is so dangerous... We can't see a thing! It's too dark." She speaks. I continue forward. I see the pathway and we move straight from there. I run for it in full speed.

"Woah!" Iolene is taken aback at my speed. I mag her to make sure she doesn't fall off. "Okay, you're fast! You need to slow down, or your bandages are going to fall off!" She says in fear. I can feel her hands wrapping around my neck.

I thought I was doing well with her on my back. However, suddenly I feel a shift of weight and a scream. IOLENE HAD FALLEN OFF! I slide to a painful halt. My poor feet! This re-ignited the pain. I turn around and went back to find the girl. I see her lying on the floor trying to get back up. I sighed with relief. That went terribly! Could have ended much worse. Her once pretty hair is now full of twigs, dirt, and leaves. Her dress ripped and covered in filth. I laugh at her as she looks like a wreck! I guess some of my humor of injured humans still gives me joy.

I stop laughing as she is clearly in pain as I see her pat her sides. She screams in pain. I stand back as she screamed in agony.

What have I done? Feeling guilty laughing at her. She has helped me with my wounds and I make fun of her injuries.

"Thanks for laughing! I'll be fine." As she bends down. "I was badly injured after the cliff fall... I must not have healed properly yet. But you must be careful!"

Humans really are fragile if a fall can possibly kill them... I immediately thought. But looking at her made me feel oddly guilty thinking that. I've had no problems with that before. She has been kind to me... Yet I think awfully because of what she is. She is after all a human... In most circumstances my family and the herd kill them.

I let her have a breather before we set off again. This time I slow down my pace. She is riding easier now. Even though she mentions she could be concussed as to whatever that means...

As we journeyed through the night, I hear weird noises coming from the dead trees. What is that noise? Even Iolene was questioning it. Little shriek noises and it sounds they're following us. I just kept on running, I don't want to linger and find out. After my last fight not sure if I can take out another Zimadu.

I felt exhausted by daybreak. But we had no choice but to keep going. Further away from my home. But away from those humans of the north. I can only hope my family is okay. Mother, father, sister, hell even my own brother Ironclad. We fought but he is still my brother. I miss my home of the northern wilds… I hope my herd managed to find a new home to settle in. With plenty of food and safe from humans. I don't want them to suffer as I am right now.

After a few days, we are climbing up a mountain. Now it's even more difficult for me as the hard ground is causing issues with my feet again. We had to rest more frequently. Iolene tending to them again each time. This mountain full of caves, so we had to be careful when we hid in them. Zimadu's primarily live in caves... And I don't want to find out what else does.

I feared I was becoming a burden as there was a whole day I couldn't move... Maybe me running so fast was a bad idea. I can see Iolene trying her best to look after me but my wounds keep re-opening up. It's now getting difficult with her running out of supplies.

She can't hunt so she will starve if not fed. And I don't have the strength to hunt. We are in trouble. I rushed into this! She wanted to stay in the village for a little while… But it's a risk that I wanted to take to leave.

"LOOK AN OUTPOST!" Iolene shouts excitedly. "Let's hope they can help us!"

We ride over as I see a tower on the side of the mountain. I lower myself to let Iolene off.

"Hello?!" Iolene shouts.

We look at the tower door and it opens. A man in red armour walks out. "Hello my lady, is there anything I can help you with?" He sounds so kind and pleasant.

"Yes sir. We need your help! I need supplies and if it's alright a bed for the night?" Iolene kindly asking.

"Ofcourse young lady!" He says. "As long as you stay for the night! You look like you've been through a tough time." And with a wave of his hand men and women come out of the tower. All decorated in red armour. The Red army must have taken over it.

Even as all the soldiers came out. Something didn't feel right. Where are the dragons? I can smell their presence. Yet they're not around…

Iolene follows the soldier as I look around. I hope she is feeling what I am feeling. Iolene do not trust these people. I run after her and nudge her.

"Oh yes! Excuse me, sir… May I please have bandages and salves? Beau needs more tending to and I've run out of healers equipment." She smiles at the soldier as he smiles back. She has such an innocent charm albeit awkward to her own kind. Why can't I meet more of these kinds of humans? Most humans I have meet try to entrap or kill me. I have to remind myself she is not holding me against my will. But she knows how to treat injuries. Especially for my feet.

Which makes me think of the dragon seer in the cave. For me to keep an open mind… Which is something my brother apparently can't do to humans. But me being open-minded has left me to be captured, enslaved, and now I am here… With no real safe way to get home. Great being open-minded…

The soldiers come out with bandages, large needles, thread, and healing herbs. The large needle frightens me! I step backward. What is that thing for?

"It's okay! This is to help keep your wounds closed. Because the ointment is not enough. Please be still!" She walks closer and starts threading through my scales closing my wound. It hurts but not as painful as the wounds. It took her a few hours to do the job. And my feet feel so much better.

"He is a remarkable dragon. Where did you get him?" The soldier asks.

She then tells an elaborate story of how her family bought me. Complete lie… I am owned by no one. Its annoyed me proclaiming that she apparently owns me. I suppose it's her only way to protect me.

"You have quite the skills, my lady. So young and beautiful to have such knowledge of treating the injured." As the soldier is making small talk to Iolene. She blushes as she tries to concentrate.

Once Iolene is done. She scratches my nose. "Okay. Lie down and get some rest! There is a dragon stable over there" Iolene points to the wooden building nearby.

As tempting as that is. Something does not feel right here… Instead of resting, I decided to walk around.

Iolene follows the soldiers inside the tower holding arm and arm. I walk over to the stable and see no dragons there. It was a small stable that can fit four dragons inside. I sniff and look in each bay. There is nothing here… It's so strange! But there have signs dragons have lived here as there is old left-over food spilled from the troughs. I walk out of the stable and see another building but it's for humans I cannot fit inside.

I Look through the window and there is no one inside and I couldn't see anything. My suspicions only growing. Where are the dragons? I walk to the tower and look through the window. Iolene is talking to the soldiers. It looks like she is having a good time. I look at every section of the area until I spotted something interesting.

Burnt craters on the dirt ground! Caused by draconium mag blasts. A fight has taken place. But I had no idea if it's recent… This world is in constant battle after all.

Walking away from the tower I decided to look at the scenery from the edge of the cliff. The view is incredible. The many mountains this country has. Reminds me of home… I can see the villages as small dots below. It would have been even more beautiful if the trees were alive. The dead forest seems to last forever.

As I looked at the scenery I can feel my blood burning inside me once more. I have been away from Iolene for a while now. I forgot how much pain I am in. After what they did to me in Inclementia. It feels like a fire raging inside my body! I shake my head hoping the agony will go away. Took me so long to get used to it... Now I have to get used to it again.

Walking away from the cliff edge I need to explore the area further away. I see dead trees as I continue to walk on the mountain path. The mountain path looks like spirals around the mountain. I look down to the lower path. I see something!

Red dragons! Dumped over the edge. They haven't been dead long! I face back to the tower. I was right we cannot stay here! As I realised a black dragon comes out and tries to ram me over the edge! I roar in pain and using my mag push to shove him away. He hisses at me as I roar back at him! I am unfamiliar with this dragon.

There was no time for introductions as I jump over the dragon to get away from the cliff's edge. I've had enough fun with cliffs! Instead of fighting the dragon, I race back to the tower.

With the rival dragon hot pursuit after me! I roar my loudest trying to get Iolenes attention. I reach the tower when I see a group of Black Empire soldiers trying to drag her away.

And the very man standing next to her is the creepy human Sly… His large overbearing smile sending chills down my back.

Iolene is struggling to get out of the red soldiers' grip. The one who was being nice to her earlier. He is trying to drag her into a carriage.

I roar and run into the group. Sly jumps high into the air avoiding me. Everyone else falls over or jumps away in fear of being crushed. And like that the battle began! Everyone taking out their weapons. The dragon who is chasing is soon accompanied by a few others. They must have been hiding! I mag pushed and swiped with my long sharp claws.

I can hear Iolene screaming to let her go!

I Swipe left and right. Using my claws and tail. While using my basic mag abilities. To my lucky advantage, these humans don't know how to use mag abilities. Not like those hunters who captured me…

With my tail I pushed a human away so far, he collided with Iolene and the soldier. They fall back and Iolene tries to run away. Unfortunately for her, Sly was right behind her grabbing her.

He smiles as he grabs her. In a monotone voice, he weirdly tries to comfort her. I roar to interrupt him. A dragon who mags his rider then rams into me. I shriek in pain! As my wounds feel like they're opening again.

The rider whacks me with his staff. My head is now in pain along with the rest of my body. Iolene biting Sly's hand letting her go. I see Iolene run to me as I lay on the floor.

"Oh no! BEAU!" As she tries to help me get up. We were surrounded. Everyone holding their weapons and riding their dragons. We have no chance of escape. Sly shook his hand not showing any emotion.

"She bit me.." I hear him say. How he remains monotone is amazing to me.

I see Iolene shed a tear. As she faces everyone surrounding us. The "nice" soldier mags off his dragon and punches Iolene across the face.

"Do not hurt her…" Sly says in his monotone voice. He is so strange… Doesn't he have any emotion? We are right in the middle of a battle and he never raised his voice.

I lunged forward trying to bite the soldier he flips back dodging it. I managed to get up as they all stopped attacking. Iolene laying on the ground underneath me. I see her open her eyes. She lifts her hand to my chest. She started glowing gold draconium. It was like she was transferring power to me. My wounds healing slightly with most of the pain disappearing. I feel refreshed and powerful!

Iolene being weak collapses! But the immense new power in my body. My heart racing! My burning blood coursing through my body. I couldn't control it. I tried to mag everyone away! Instead, I created a mag dome. And without a thought I unleashed energy, I had no idea I could create.

An explosion happened! All I see is dark purple and bright lights! Screaming and roaring. With all of my energy disappearing along with the explosion. I collapse as everything goes black!
