Chapter 40 – Jesse Flynn

First things first: Jesse had to film the Report on Friday morning. It was the usual thing with random interviews of the Princes and the girls following the recap video of the week. He could have kissed Nevaeh when she had told him about Valerian's and Odessa's little private walk in the gardens, the previous evening.

They hadn't done anything juicy, besides holding hands and walking really close to one another. They hadn't kissed again, though, and Jesse was disappointed. Why was Valerian so reluctant into showing his feelings for any one of the girls on his Elite? Sure, he understood that he didn't want to break their hearts or whatever. But come on! There were only five girls left on his list.

But oh, well. He'd be patient like everyone else. He had to be.

And none of the princes had eliminated anyone, either. So really, not an interesting week at all…

After the report was over and the girls and families rejoined the Palace, everyone was in a frenzy, getting last-minute details added to their costumes. Some of the families had prepared matching costumes with their daughter, others had done something totally different, and some others hadn't done anything, not interested in dressing up in silly costumes in front of the queen.

Jesse had been planning his forever, and he was happy about his choice: it was loud, it was tacky, and it was so him.

"Jesse!" Nathan said, coming over. "I need your help, man…"

"My help?" Jesse was surprised.

"Yes, I can't find anyone else who isn't my direct family or an ignorant staff member."

"…okay," Jesse said slowly. "What can I help you with?"

"I can't decide between two costumes."

Jesse snorted. "Let me guess: Darth Vader or Kylo Ren?"

Nathan shook his head but smiled. "I like your way of thinking, but no. I mean, yes, it's Star Wars characters, obviously, what else? But not these two…"

"Which ones, then?" Jesse asked. Now, he was curious.

"Han Solo or Chewie?" Nathan said, whispering. He didn't want others to know about his very serious dilemma.

"Oooh, those two…" Jesse thought for a moment, dramatically tapping his finger on his chin. "Let me see. Han Solo would be sexier if you want to 'get the girl'... if you see what I mean, but you already have several girls at your disposal." He paused. "Chewie is more mysterious because we wouldn't know who's under the mask until you spoke…"

"Oh, yeah!" Nathan said, his face brightening up in a second. "Thanks, man!" he tapped Jesse on the shoulder and was on his way, a grin on his face.

"Wait! Which one are you going to wear?" Jessa called out, but Nathan didn't reply. "Damnit." Jesse sighed and checked the time on his phone: only 2 more hours before the official dinner party. He wondered what the girls in charge of the party prepared. Maybe he had time for a power nap in before then? Jesse went to his room, prepared his costume on the chair, and set his alarm clock to ring forty-five minutes before dinner so we would have time to shower, change, and catch all the girls, their families, and the princes in their outfits before the party. He wanted the tea!

-o-0-o-

When his phone rang, Jesse woke up with a start and jumped on his phone. "Hello?" He waited for an answer, but no one spoke on the other side. "Hello?" Jesse looked at his screen and snorted. That was just the alarm. Not a phone call. At least he had heard it and not slept through it!

He kicked the covers away and stretched like a cat. He didn't feel completely fresh, though, after that nap, and still felt like the first question he wanted to ask was what year is this? But He pushed through and went to take a shower and put on his costume: a white shiny and tacky costume from the legendary Elvis Presley. It took him a good twenty minutes to get the hair just right, but once it was done, he was ready to go tackle the world and drink the tea. Most of the girls and the princes had kept their costumes a secret for the grand reveal, so he was eager to see them.

He walked towards the dining room, but of course, there was no one yet, fifteen minutes before the appointed hour. He leaned against the wall and adjusted his red flower necklace and the high collar of his shiny suit.

"Jesse!" Nevaeh said when she walked in. For once, he hadn't heard her heels– was she not wearing heels at all? "I can't believe you came as Elvis Presley!" she said. "I love his music so much!"

"Really? You do?" Jesse replied, skeptical. "You didn't strike me as an Elvis Presley kinda girl."

"You'd be surprised, Jesse. There are still many things you don't know about me."

"I realize that now." He looked at her outfit and frowned. She was wearing a modern black pantsuit, an undervest with a modern chevron pattern, a white rose boutonnière, and a golden bowtie. And she was not wearing heels, but a pair of shiny Derbies. Her hair was down and straightened. "What are you supposed to be dressed as, if I may ask?"

Nevaeh laughed. "I'm surprised you don't even recognize yourself, Jesse."

"Wait– you're dressed as… me?" Jesse did a new once-over of the woman he secretly favored above all else but seeing her dressed as him was… weird? But a good kind of weird? He made a face, not really sure what to think.

"You don't like it?" Nevaeh said, the disappointment in her voice betraying her.

"No! No– I mean yes! I love it! it's just… I wasn't expecting that at all. I thought you'd dress up as a Disney princess or something like that," he babbled. "It's really cool," he finished. "And I'm honored."

Nevaeh rolled her eyes. "I should have gone with my second idea," she mumbled. "Lady Di."

"Who's that?" Jesse asked.

Nevaeh stared at Jesse to see if horns were going to grow out of his hair. "You don't know who Lady Di is? Princess Diana, from the kingdom of England?" She waved whatever he was going to say. "She was from several centuries ago, but such a legend. I can't believe you've never at least heard of her… Oh, well." She paused. "At least you know who Jesse Flynn is, right?"

"No, who's that?" Jesse said sarcastically. "I've never heard of him."

Nevaeh was about to respond something – he wasn't sure if it was going to be nice or not – but a group of people arrived, cutting their conversation short.

"You two look amazing!" Jenissa said, coming closer with her parents in tow. "You look great as Jesse," she said, smirking.

Nevaeh laughed. "See? Jen recognized me."

Jesse nodded, but he was busy taking mental notes of the costumes of Jen and her family. "Who are you supposed to be dressed as?" Jesse asked the musician Selected.

Jenissa's jaw dropped practically to the floor. "Jesse, are you alright?"

"What? I can recognize your mother as Padmé Amidala, and your dad as some kind of a Jedi…?" he trailed off, suddenly not sure of himself. Was he even a Star Wars character too? "You're not Leia, you're obviously not Padmé, and you're not Rey." He paused. "Who are you?" She was wearing a long, black, sheath dress with a deep V neckline and a slit on the side, long sleeves, and a golden necklace or something. Her hair was done in the 50's style.

Jen rolled her eyes. "I'm–"

"Qi'ra!" a roaring voice said. It was Chewbacca – so Nathan had gone with that – and he lifted his fake bowcaster at her. "So we meet again." His voice was modified to sound more roaring and beastly like Chewie, but they could still understand him.

Jenissa wanted to answer something in character of Qi'ra, but she burst out laughing. "I can't believe you went with Chewie!" she said. "I was so sure you would either dress up as Han Solo or Luke Skywalker! Damnit."

"You owe me 20 bucks," her dad said, and everyone laughed.

Nathan chatted with Jen and her parents while they all waited for the others to come. Emelda and family arrived next, all dressed up as witches and wizards with lots of tulle, fake plastic spiders, and tall pointy hats. Jesse was so excited to see all the costumes and was happy that some of the families had joined in the craziness. There was nothing better than to meet your daughter's 'maybe in-laws' dressed up as fictional characters, right?

Were the Queen and her husband even going to be costumed as well?

The next couple who arrived was Silas and Ximena.

"My, my, Silas!" Nevaeh said. "I haven't seen you in a Halloween costume in more than fifteen years!"

"Blame her," he said with a slight smirk and motioning to his fiancée with his thumb. They were dressed at Gomez and Morticia Addams: Ximena was wearing a long black dress with a high slit on the thigh and a deep V-neck – very much like Jenissa, actually – but her straight hair and makeup were very different from Jen's. And she was also wearing dizzyingly high heeled shoes, making her almost the same height as Silas. Almost. Not quite. Silas was wearing an old-fashion black striped suit with his hair separated in two in the middle and a thin fake mustache. Jesse had never seen him clean-shaven before, so this was a first. He was wearing a red rose on his boutonniere and a fake hand attached to his shoulder, and Ximena was carrying a bouquet of red roses.

"I'm not blaming anyone," Nevaeh said. "You look very elegant."

Silas slipped a finger between his neck and collar. "Maybe, but it's very uncomfortable. I much rather prefer my own more modern suits."

"It's only for one evening," Ximena said. "It'll pass quickly."

Silas looked down at her – his eyes passed quickly over her cleavage as well – and smiled. "I know." He placed a kiss on the top of her head, forgetting he was among lots of people.

"Mom? Dad?" someone said, coming into the foyer. Everyone turned around to see who had spoken and everyone but Silas burst into laughter. Laelia had come in, dressed as Wednesday Adams – black little girl's dress with a white col Claudine, two long braids, and a pale face – with her father as Lurch.

Ximena had to explain to Silas how their characters were related, and he laughed as well.

All the rest of the girls arrived, dressed in various costumes, and the one that created the most waves when she arrived was Abigail: she had also chosen a Star Wars character, since she knew Nathan's love for the whole saga, and had gone with something even more daring than Jenissa: Abigail Correll was dressed as Leia when she was a slave to Jabba the Hutt, gold bikini and all. Of course, it was Gail and she could pull it off, and though it didn't surprise most of the people who knew her, it did surprise some of the parents.

Nathan definitely noticed her costume – or lack, thereof – and went to talk with her and her family. Abigail had not invited the Governor and his wife, those that had been there at the first Ball, but her real mother and her two siblings. Her little 17-year-old sister was dressed as Lady Gaga in one of her crazy outfits, and her 13-year-old brother was wearing a robot costume. Their mother had decided not to dress up, though Jesse learned later on that she was a seamstress and had made her kids' costumes for the evening.

"Damnit, Nate," Gail said. "Couldn't you have come as Han Solo? Seriously. Who wears a Chewbacca costume?"

"It's too hairy," her little brother, Micah, said. He reached out to touch Nate's costume.

"Furry," you mean, Jordan, the sister, said.

"Does that make him a Furry, then?" Emelda said, joining in the conversation.

"Does it?" Abigail said, smirking. She and Jenissa shared a look and everyone burst out laughing. Even Nevaeh and Jesse, but not Silas.

"What's a Furry?" Silas asked.

"Oh, honey," Ximena said, becoming red under her pale Addams makeup. "I'll explain later." Which made everyone laugh even more.

"Can we join in the fun?" a regal voice said, walking into the foyer with her husband. Everyone stopped laughing as one, cheeks becoming redder by the second.

"Mom!" Nathan said, enveloping his mother in a furry hug. "You look amazing!" He took a step back and held her at arm's length. "Which Greek goddess are you this year?"

"Athena," she said. "Goddess of war, wisdom, and handicraft."

"Of course," Nathan said. "Silly me." Then he turned to the people gathered in the foyer. "Mom is always dressing as a Roman or Greek goddess for Halloween," he explained. "And dad…?" he looked at his father. The Prince Consort was wearing a white toga over a golden t-shirt and with golden-winged shoes. He had a bag at his side with letters and writing feathers sticking out of it. On his head, there was a winged hat as well.

"Hermes!" he said.

"Hey, where's Valerian?" Nathan asked, looking around. Jesse wondered if he could see anything under his mask.

People looked around but the young prince had not arrived yet.

"Should we wait for him?" Ximena asked. Being one of the organizers of the little private party with Gail and Jen, she had a schedule to follow.

"I'm here! I'm here," Val said, running down the hall. "I'm so sorry I'm late! I couldn't find my staff!" He brandished his hook-like staff and Jesse gave a quick once-over of the costume: Silver white hair, brown pants, a blue hoodie with snow on it, and bare feet, Valerian Schreave was dressed as Jack Frost!

"Excellent! I think everyone's here so we can go inside!" Gail said. She nodded to the two footmen standing motionless in front of the door. At her command, they opened the double doors, revealing the grand dining room decorated for the occasion.

-o-0-o-

Queen Helena and Prince Tobias walked in first, looking everywhere. Behind them was the queen mother dressed in a French Renaissance dress alongside Nevaeh as Jesse Flynn. Then Silas and Ximena walked in with her mother right behind them, followed by Chewbacca and Jack Frost, and all the other guests, one family at a time.

Jesse walked in last, filming as he came in. It was incredible! Odessa and Sydney had done a tremendous job at decorating the room! Three tables lined the walls in a giant U-shape, leaving the center of the dining room free. Jesse wondered what would happen there… Each table was covered with white tablecloths, and on them were magnificent table runners made of orange and white pumpkins, orange, white, and black flower arrangements, and some black plastic spiders here and there amid fake spiderwebs. Jesse shuddered at the sight. He wasn't terrified of spiders, but he didn't like them either. High golden candelabras lined the tables with tall white and orange candles, and the chandeliers hanging above them were shining with candles as well. There was not a single electric light in the room and Jesse had to applaud them for that. It felt very cozy and warm, yet spooky enough

Everyone found their seating place with their name either on a spider, a pumpkin, or a flower, and the Queen let the three organizers introduce the evening.

"Good evening everyone, and welcome to the Royal Halloween feast!" Gail said. "Before we eat, we just wanted to say how happy we are to be able to share this moment with our families! Thank you so much to Their Majesties for their hospitality." She paused. "I'm sure you'll be happy when the whole Selection is over and your three sons settled, but in the meantime, we enjoy every moment here." She sat down and Jen stood next.

"Between dishes, we will be conducting some kind of fashion show, and at the end, we will all vote for the best costume of the evening, and there will be three categories: royal family member, Selected, and Selected's families." She paused. "Uh, Jesse, I don't really know in what category to put you in…"

Jesse shrugged. "I'm just the Reporter," he said. "I don't need a categ–"

"Are you kidding?" Nathan said, wrapping his hairy Chewie arm around his table neighbor. "He'll compete in the Royal category."

"Okay," Jenissa said. "You heard the man! Of course, you don't all have to participate, but the more the merrier!" She sat back down, too, and Ximena stood next.

"And to finish this evening properly, we will go to the ballroom, just next door" – she pointed at the double doors on the side of the dining room – "for dancing, and more! Bon appétit!"

On cue, a line of footmen walked in with the dishes and served the people, starting with the royal family, of course. While waiting for his dish and then for everyone to be served, Jesse looked around the room and tried to understand how the people were seated.

The Royal family and the special guests – Nevaeh's family and Ximena's mother – were seated at the same table, at the bottom of the U-shape. To his right, it seemed to be mainly the girls from Nathan's list with their families, and on the left table, Val's Selected with their families. The organizers really separated everyone, huh?

The food was incredible and gold-white-orange-and-black-themed to the smallest detail. Jesse took pictures of everything he could, filling his reporting duties. He listened to the conversations around him, making sure to mentally note down everything he could. But he did feel a little alone: he had not invited his family – and he wasn't even sure he could have, anyway – and listening to the laughter and happy conversations around; everyone seemed to be having so much fun…

For once in his life, and for the first time during the Selection, Jess felt out of place. He had never felt it so much before, not even when third-wheeling the dates during the past 3 months.

"Ladies and gentlemen!" Abigail said after the first dish. "It is time for the first part of the costume fashion show to begin! We will do it in three parts and the first one shall be the Selected followed by their families from Valerian's list."

To Jesse's surprise, all five girls came to the center of the room to walk down the length of the room so everyone could see them. He decided it was time to film and take some good pictures to share with Sydney and Otis who had taken the day off. And he could also show it on the next Report if there wasn't anything interesting to show of the week.

The first girl to walk down the long aisle between the tables was Malia. She was dressed in a green dress with flowers all over it, her face and arms were painted green as well, and she was wearing a long green wig with a flower crown on her head. In her right hand, she was carrying a small person, but Jesse couldn't see who or what it was.

"Te Fiti, Ladies and Gentlemen!" Gail said. "Because Moana or Ariel would've been too obvious." So it turned out that she was carrying a tiny Moana in her hand. Nice.

Everyone laughed at that and Malia made a good show of walking towards the Royal table. After her came Dyani in a very fancy Pocahontas-style gown: it was beige with sequins on it, and all her accessories – jewelry and shoes – were a teal color, bringing out her darker tan skin and dark hair and eyes. Everyone applauded. She was followed by Ashia who decided to walk with her mother. Jesse and many others were surprised to see a white-skinned woman walking next to her – clearly, she had been adopted – and they were as opposite as their costumes: Day and Night. Ashia was wearing a black tulle dress with tiny LED lights underneath the tulle, and big golden stars in her hair and on her clothes.

"That's a really cool costume!" Nathan said. "I love the little lights!"

Ashia beamed. "Thank you, Your Highness."

Her mother was dressed in a light blue tulle dress with puffy cotton clouds all over her dress, and a big headpiece to look like the sun.

The next young woman was Odessa, and she walked alone, too. Jesse wasn't quite sure what she was dressed as, but she was wearing an off-white dress with red and pink rose petals sewn into it all over, and there were things that looked like tree branches going around the torso and over the shoulders. She was also wearing a red flower crown, making her curled black hair and grey eyes stand out beautifully.

"Persephone, goddess of spring and queen of the Underworld!" Jenissa said, introducing Odessa with one flourish of the arm. Jesse looked at Val, too, since they were 'his' girls, and his constant smile said it all: he liked them all equally. At least that was what people thought when they saw him. But was his smile larger for one of them? Jesse couldn't say.

And finally, the last girl who came forth was Evangeline, dressed as a young Maleficent. She had paired her costume with her little sister who was Aurora.

After that came the families who wanted to join the 'fashion show', and the next dish was served. It continued like this until the end of dinner: eat, fashion show, eat, fashion show, eat.

The Selected on Nathan's list came next, presented by Ximena. Abigail was dressed as Leia in the slave outfit; Jenissa as Qi'ra, also from the Star Wars universe, and with her family; Pallas was dressed up as Black Widow, and her parents were also dressed up as Marvel Characters: her father was Starlord, and her mother was Gamora, both from Guardians of the Galaxy. After Pallas, came Laelia with her dad as members of the Addams Family, and then Emelda and her family as Witches and Wizards. The last to come in the middle of the room was Morrigan and she was dressed in a red Tudor-like gown with an elegant headpiece. The only thing attaching her to Rosalind Dawson – for those who had missed the Flash-back episodes in the series – were the vampire fangs. Everyone applauded them and they continued on with the meal.

Between the second main dish and dessert came the Royals' turn to show off. They had amazing costumes, and it would be hard to decide who was the best. Nevaeh's parents hadn't done anything, but Henri was dressed as the Phantom of the Opera. The Watanabe kids had done various degrees of puns, and Jesse had to admit that they were pretty funny. The Ambassador and his wife had just worn traditional New Asian costumes from their home country, so they weren't really dressed up with Halloween costumes.

During the dessert, Jen and Gail passed around three little papers to each person, one blue, one green, and one white, telling them to vote for their favorite costume among the Selected, the families, and the Royals.

"It is time to go through to the other room," Ximena said when everyone was done eating, "for dancing, more eating, and drinking! There will be some spooky-themed cocktails and mocktails, and now it's time to have more fun!"

The Selected forgot they were in the presence of the Queen and the Royal family and the transfer from one room to the other was somewhat chaotic, to Jesse's amusement. He followed the loud group of costumed savages – yes, he was using Nevaeh's favorite term – into the ballroom where several couches and coffee tables had been brought it, creating little clusters of seats to chat the evening away. On the side of the room was a buffet table with all sorts of spooky-themed goodies and drinks. After a couple of minutes in the ball-room-turned-lounge, fake smoke spread across the floor, making everyone feel they were floating in the air. Jesse looked at the people around the room with a rum-based cocktail in his hand. Alone.

"The smoke was my idea," Ximena said, coming over.

Jesse smiled. "A good addition to the spookiness of the whole party."

"Are you alright, Jesse?" she asked.

"Yeah, I'm okay." He sighed. Should he confide in her? Oh, well. She was also drinking something strong, just like him. "I can't remember the last time I saw my family. Probably last Christmas or something…"

"I'm sorry to hear that," she said. They stood side by side, drinking their cocktail in silence. Music was blaring through the loudspeakers, but no one was dancing yet.

"Are you going to open the dance with Silas?" Jesse asked.

"Maybe. But first, we have to announce the winners for the costumes!"

"Oh, right." He chuckled.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, may we have your attention please!" Jenissa said, standing on a coffee table with Gail next to her. "We are going to announce the costume winners of this year's edition!"

Everyone gathered around to hear and see better. The girls stayed in clusters with their families and they all looked at the two girls on the low table.

"The winners of the Families Category are – yes because since it was a pair, both won – Mr. and Mrs. Ramirez as Peter Quill and Gamora!"

Pallas squealed and hugged her parents. Gail stepped down the table and looped an orange flower necklace around their necks, congratulating them.

"The winner in the Selected Category," Jenissa continued, "is Ashia Onelle, in her Night costume! It also went with her mom's Day costume, so we're awarding two winners for this category as well."

Gail walked over to Ashia and her mother with a white flower necklace, and the girls on Val's list hugged Ashia and congratulated her. Jesse had to admit that yes, her costume was really good and that the golden stars made her whole person stand out. But he had not voted for her. No, his choice had been Malia in her green Te Fiti dress and wig. Oh, well…

"And now," Jenissa continued, "For the Royal Category!" She paused trying to build up the suspense. "Also two winners, only they did not form a pair: they were a perfect tie!" Everyone looked at the people among the Royals and tried to guess who it was. Jesse thought it had to be the Queen. "The two winners are Nevaeh as Jesse, and Queen Beatrice as Marie-Antoinette!"

All the guests erupted in cheers and applause as Gail gave the two winners a golden flower necklace.

"Let the party begin!" Gail said, turning up the music. It was almost eleven o'clock, and the Queen Mother gracefully excused herself to retire, but not before thanking everyone for the win and thanking especially the three organizers and the decorator.

The queen and her husband retired some time later and were followed by most of the parents. By two in the morning, there were only the younger people remaining in the ballroom-turned-disco-room. People were dancing, drinking, and eating snacks, and Nathan had taken off his Chewbacca costume to reveal his Han Solo costume underneath. He must have died of heat in there.

Jesse wanted to go to bed, but he also wanted to stay so he could catch all the tea and report the juicy stuff. So he stayed awake, sitting on a couch, with cocktails and energy drinks. In one corner of the room, Silas was dancing with his fiancée, both eyes locked on each other. A little further away, Val was chatting loudly and laughing with his girls, beating the rhythm with his foot, and Nathan was dancing with most of his girls. Two of them, Laelia and Pallas, were dancing with Henri who had taken off his Phantom cape and mask. The Watanabe kids were going from one group to the next, but they were the first to retire.

Nevaeh had been talking with Ezra until now, and now that Ezra Watanabe was gone, she headed towards Jesse, a grin on her face, giggles bubbling up her throat, and an orange drink in her hand. Jesse had never seen her like that, far from sober.

"Jesseeeee!" she said, dropping on the couch next to him, her drink sloshing a little over the rim and on her hand. "You're all alone! Come dance!"

"Nevaeh, you're drunk," Jesse said, refusing to go dance. He wasn't completely sober himself, and he knew he would topple over the moment he stood.

"Come onnnn!" She said, pulling his hand. She was teetering on her feet, but she didn't fall. "Let's have some funnnnn!"

Jesse sighed. He did want to dance with her, but they were both drunk and he knew it was not the best mix in the world. But he indulged her and stood. Thank goodness he didn't fall flat on his face right away, though the world did seem to whirl all around him and he hadn't even started to dance yet!

Nevaeh was giggling like a twelve-year-old, but it was contagious and Jesse really started to have fun as well. They didn't drink too much more, after that, and both quickly forgot they were in the middle of the other dancers. At some point, the music changed into something slower and more romantic, and people started doing slow dances. Jesse was too focused on his own dance partner that he didn't notice the couples that formed around him. Silas and Ximena were obvious; but he missed Valerian sleepy-drunk slow-dancing with Odessa, and Han Solo going from Leia, to Qi'ra, to the sexy witch, and to Rosalind; Henri de Montignac had been dancing with Laelia and Pallas all night, though he did seem to have a preference for Pallas. And the other girls on Val's list were just chatting on couches, drinks in hands. Val was dancing with each one in turn, though.

At some point during their dance, Nevaeh wrapped her arms around his neck and he wrapped his around her waist. Their eyes met very closely, and they were suddenly breathing the same air. So much so that Nevaeh reached towards his face with his lips and kissed him.

Jesse's brain short-circuited for a moment but then he sobered up long enough to actually realize that he was kissing the woman of his dreams! She tasted of pumpkin spice, rum, and cookies, but it was absolutely perfect. He kissed her back without thinking and before they could say The Selection, they were out in the hall.

Nevaeh was already taking off her suit jacket and pressing herself against him, but Jesse guided them to his room, kissing her all the while. He was drunk, yes, but not enough to leave a trail of clothes to his room. He knew what gossip did even in his state of drunkenness and happiness. Which was quite an explosive mix, to be honest.

After bumping into walls and crashing against the door to his room, they managed to make it to his bed. By that time, they only needed to take off a few pieces of clothing, but between giggles and kisses, they managed.

Jesse was drunk on alcohol, but also drunk on love for the girl of his dreams who was in his bed. He wasn't completely conscious of what he was doing, but he didn't care. That was a problem for tomorrow him. All he could think of at the moment was her. Her soft skin under his touch; the halo of blond hair on the pillow, the little moans she let out as he tried to please them both; her smell– oh God, her perfume!
