Chapter 67: Agents Versus Ghosts And Harpies
''After all this is over, I am going to ask her out,'' Danny thought to himself.
He, Nightwing, and Orion were all in the Greek Acropolis, setting up for the fight ahead. They thought being in the ruins of Athens would keep mortals and humans from seeing the battle and discovering magic.
''Did you already get in touch with the other harpies, Orion,'' Dick asked, putting his escrima sticks in their holsters.
''They might be scared of the GIW, but will fight with everything they have in order to protect magic,'' Orion says. ''After the battle, we'll probably find quite a few bodies with their eyes gouged out.''
''Never anger a harpy, noted,'' Dick said.
*****In Camelot*****
Beast Boy sneezed, causing his to turn from monkey to human.
''You alright, Gar,'' Ma'gann asked him, throwing an agent with her powers.
''I think someone just used my catchphrase,'' Gar said.
*****Back to Greece*****
''Harpies are known for being territorial and protective of their flocks,'' Danny says. ''I would be surprised if there were any agents left alive when this is over.''
''Let it be known that when in Greece, don't mess with a Greek,'' Orion smirked.
''For a prince, you can be pretty sadistic,'' Dick told him.
''Prince of the harpies, I remind you,'' Orion said. ''It is in my very nature to be a bird of prey, even as a prince.''
''I knew I liked this guy,'' Dick smiled, patting the harpy's back.
"When will they get here," Danny asked.
As if on cue, they heard several shrieks and cries. Like a mixture of bats and birds.
"That would be them," Orion smiled.
Over a dozen winged boys and girls. Some were of the more modern, like Orion, with their wings coming out of their backs. Others were like the ancient Greek harpies, their wings coming out of their arms and their arms and legs like bird claws. They landed around them, some of the ancient ones crossing over the pillars and ceiling. Two floated down toward Orion.
One was a light blue-haired girl with a cloud-like dress and diamond heels. The other was a male harpy with green hair with a brown and gray archer suit. The girl and had bright blue wings while the boy had navy green.
"Lien, Forest," Orion greeted.
As most isles do have monarchy's running then, they need advisors helping them to get along with their closest neighbors. The advisors are chosen by the king, queen, prince, or princess to help discuss peace treaties and other dealings with the neighboring isles. Lien, being blessed by Hecate the goddess of magic, is the advisor to the Isle of Wicca and Isle of Gypsy. Forest, being blessed by Demeter the goddess of nature, is the advisor to the Isle of Nymphs.
"My prince, why have you called us here," Forest asked. "You know that most harpies are afraid of coming back here because of the GIW."
"We are here to chase the agents out of Greece, and away from magic," Orion informed.
The harpies all turned to their prince and the two heroes next to him. They looked either shocked or determined, hard to tell.
"Is this why Melinda has recruited Witch Academy," Lien asked.
The four others gave her a look.
"The Isle of Wicca has a really good gossip system," the witch-like harpy said.
"She does have a point," Forest says. "And I mean the recruitment, not the gossip system. I've felt a lot of active magic in Krinos's forest. Whatever's going on there has nature going crazy. Even the dryads and nymphs on the isles feel it."
"This is war," Danny told them, bringing attention to him. "The Guys In White have been attacking the most powerful grounds of magic. So far, Camelot, Krinos's forest, Transylvania, the Eternal Spring, Witch Academy, and Delos are all currently under siege."
"They're attacking magic, so magic is gonna fight back," Dick said.
Almost every one of the harpies smirked at this. Forest suddenly turned his head in a certain direction.
"I sense somebody coming," Forest says. "A lot of somebodies by the way the earth is reacting."
"Are you sure," Dick asked.
Without any warning, a beam shot into the sky. As it reached into the sky, over the Acropolis, and a glowing green dome formed over a rather large area of the ruins around them. They were sealed in.
"I think that answers the question," Danny says. "It's a Ghost Shield."
"What," Orion, Lien, and Forest gasped.
"A what shield," Dick asked. "But you're the only ghost."
"They must really not want you to leave," Lien says, making Forest elbow her in the ribs. "Hey."
"It isn't just for ghosts," Danny explained. "It's one of the few inventions, that Jack and Maddie made, that worked. They made it to stop both ghosts and mystics from coming close to the house. But it can also be used to keep us in."
"It works on both our kinds, yet they only include ghosts," Forest raised an eyebrow.
"You haven't met the Fentons," Danny scowled. "I've met trolls smarter than them. For the love of the ancients, Box Ghost has a higher IQ."
"Everyone, get ready," Orion ordered. "It's not or never."
The harpies all scattered, hiding. Phantom went invisible and intangible, phasing through the ground. Before Nightwing left, Lien flew n front of him.
"You have impressed magic with your pure heart and heroic soul," she says. "Being a guardian is a high honor, but also a show of your good nature. These are for you."
Opening her hands, revealing two more amulets. They both had amethysts at their center. One had three small stone spikes on the top and the bottom was designed like a stone spike mask. The other also had stone as a part of it, but looked like a stone claw at the top and gold at the bottom.
"You'll know what to do when the time is right," Lien smiled.
She gave Nightwing the amulets and disappeared.
"Curious girl," Dick thought.
He tucked the amulets into his utility belt. He didn't have the time to think about anything other than the battle at hand. He walked down the steps that had led them up to the Acropolis. He glared as agents came into view. But it was the ones in front that had him reaching for Cavalier's amulet. The Fentons.
"You lot have some nerve attacking grounds sacred to magic," Dick yelled at them. "The lands you attack have stood for thousands of years, yet you let pointless accusations and conspiracy theories guide your non-existent justification."
(AN: Dang, that is a lot of big words in a single sentence.)
"They are not pointless or non-existent," Maddie screamed. "We are ridding the world of these heartless monsters."
"This woman needs to learn to get traught and feel the aster," Dick thought. "Danny and White might have told us about real banshees, but this psycho puts them to shame."
"Heartless," Dick yelled. "Phantom and Gold Siren freakin' saved the world from the Disastroid even when they could have just went to the Ghost Zone or Mystic Isles and forgot about this planet. Krinos guards nature more than he does his own life. I even met an entire colony of vampires that only drink animal blood. You saying that they're evil doesn't do anything except make you eligible for a slander charge."
"You can't slander when they are what they are, the most filthy of scum to ever exist," Jack sneered.
"Wow, and I thought the Joker of crazy," Dick snickered. "Well, he is. But you two are somehow beyond even him, and I didn't think that was possible."
The Fentons snapped.
"GET HIM," they yelled.
Nightwing smirked. Before the agents could move a muscle, harpy shrieks filled the air. The winged boys and girls all darted out of their hiding places, swarming the agents. Guns started firing in random directions, trying to hit the fast flying bird people.
"I've been an advisor to the wiccans and gyspys for far too long," Lien grinned. "I forgot how much fun kicking butt is."
She proved her point when she literally kicked and agent in the behind. It was with so much force that he was sent over one of the ruin walls. When more agents tried to shoot her, her eyes glowed purple. Large rocks, surrounded by purple light lines, rose up. They blocked the blasts.
"Hecate always said I was her favorite blessed being," Lien giggled.
She threw the rocks at them. She nailed them in the head, chest, and one was unfortunate enough to get one where the sun don't shine. Ouch. Lien then took off.
Forest was pretty much having the time of his life. In true nature user style, he vanished into the environment around him. When two agents were at the back of their group, he appeared behind them while crawling on one of the walls. Softly landing on the ground, he snuck right up to them.
He reached up and touched his hands to the back of their necks. Instantly, their skin started being covered in green vine-like veins. They made noises similar to what seemed like a dying cat, then collapsed. The agents all aimed their weapons at him.
"What did you do to them," one of them shouted.
"I am blessed by Demeter, goddess of nature," Forest smirked. "What better place to find poison than in nature. When I want it, my touch is deathly poisonous."
While Lien had been gifted with telekinesis, Forest had been blessed with two gifts. The first was his poisonous touch, as deadly as nightshade mixed with oleander. The second was a nature's twister that his wings produce.
Moving as swiftly as a leaf in the wind, he dodged all their attempts at shooting him. His wings glowed green. Smirking, Forest spun around. His wings caused him to fly up because of the spin. With him came a tornado of green wind and leaves. It sent the agents flying.
The Fentons were lurking around another part of the ruins. But there was a sudden chill in the air. The sky turned dark, frost started covering the ground, and a pair of green eyes appeared in the air in Cheshire Cat style. Phantom made a full appearance. And he did not look happy.
"I have waited. For almost five years. To deliver justice," he growled. "For the Ghost Zone, the Mystic Isles, my family, my brother. I will make you pay."
"Just like a freak, wanting to seek revenge and hurt others when nothing was done to them," Maddie sneered. "You scum just want to hurt us normal people."
"NORMAL," Danny screamed. "Normal people don't show no remorse when they murder three innocent kids. You took away our two best friends and sister. Even now, you still don't care."
"You're only pretending to care about them," Jack scowled. "To you, they were just minions. You fooled them with your lies and they were dumb enough to believe you. They deserved it."
That was when Phantom snapped. White rings appeared around him, changing him to his royal form.
"You brought this upon yourselves," he growled.
Sticking his middle and index fingers in his mouth, he whistled. A portal instantly opened up next to him. Out galloped Fright Knight riding Nightmare.
"At your service, my lord," Fright Knight bowed.
"We're about to get some serious revenge, FK," a very angry Danny stated.
In a different part of the ruins, Nightwing and Cavalier were almost back to back as they fought.
"Well, well, well," a familiar annoying voice said. "Look what we have here."
"I'm about to get a very big headache," Dick says, Cavalier almost seeming to agree with him.
