Chapter 49

Talion was growing weaker and weaker, but he pressed on to maintain control over the security camera's, and everything else that was used to maintain control in the city. As L.E.T.A. continued to display the feed from Jasmine's disc, he would look up in horror as he listened to what she was suggesting. To use that weapon could kill Jasmine where she was standing. Jim saw this and went over to him.

"What is she talking about?" He asks, trying to keep calm but was finding it to be difficult in these circumstances.

He turns to him and would press different buttons and one screen would switch from displaying a part of the city, to making special calculations. It took a second, and then it revealed what he feared. If he were to do what Jasmine was suggesting, there was only a thirty percent chance for her survival. This was a choice that only a desperate person would make and it could save everyone, but destroy everyone emotionally involved.

"You can't be serious?" Price's voice suddenly echoed through the disc. "You would risk your life for the one's who would use you for their benefit?"

"If it means saving everyone I loved, yes." Jasmine's voice would echo after him.

Jim would become frantic at this and would speak to Jasmine through the disc. "Jasmine, whatever it is you're planning, don't do it!"

"One minute till the bomb detonates." L.E.T.A. suddenly says.

Adaline's eyes widened at this. "No, there has to be another way!"

What they couldn't see was Price slowly gaining up on Jasmine. "Listen to the boy Jasmine, wouldn't you rather die along with your friends than have them live on without you?"

Nor could they see Jasmine leaning against where she was hiding. "Not when I made a promise to do whatever it takes to keep the one I love safe."

As he listened to her words, he knew what she meant and remembered the promise he made. The vow to always protect the one he loved most, no matter the cost. He would get everything ready to do what had to be done. Even if it meant breaking Adaline's heart. Adaline and Jim were too focused on the countdown and Jasmine to notice what he was doing until it was too late.

Turning as he was getting ready to push the last button, Jim's eyes would widen, "What are you doing?" He shouts at him.

His expression was a pure defeat as Talion only could reply, "I'm sorry" before pressing down on the button and the ground would shake as a blast of energy was shot up into the sky. Before anyone responded, he would lose the energy to keep fighting and would collapse to the ground. As Jim's and Adaline's frantic voices cried out.

Jasmine was prepared to die, as long as it meant saving her friends. So when she saw that the bomb was about to go off, she had to decide fast on how to reduce the casualties and save her friends. Then she remembered learning of a weapon that the government had brought to Kaoria that was to be used in case of dire circumstances. Because the energy of a single blast could destroy a city, if not careful. This was definitely a dire circumstance to use such a weapon.

Price edged closer with his gun raised in her direction, "You can't be serious? You would risk your life for the one's who would use you for their benefit?"

"If it means saving everyone I loved, yes." Jasmine says determinedly, loud enough for the disc to pick up.

She could hear Jim's frantic cries, telling her that there must be another way. However, she knew there wasn't. If she were to stop the bomb, there were still the Braivrok forces that they would have to fight. Price had planted the bomb in this ship for a reason, and she was putting together why. The Braivrok's seemed to attack in drones, meanwhile protecting this ship with their advance security. Like an insect protecting a hive, they were determined to keep this ship afloat. Which meant that if they took out the ship, then it would be all over. At least, that was the theory, and she was going to bet her life on it.

"I have had enough of our little game, this ends here!" Price would shout, rushing over to where she was with his gun in hand.

"Couldn't have said it better myself!" Jasmine screams and would stand up, firing her gun the same moment as he did. The same moment as a blast of energy ripped through the ship like a beacon behind them. Falling backwards, she would feel a pain in her stomach unlike anything before. It felt as if someone had stabbed her with a blade that was on fire and it caused her to black out for a second. When she came to, the ship lost its power and was falling towards the ground. Mere feet away from her lay the body of Price, who was dead from being shot in the chest. The floor would crumble where he lay and his body fell through the hole. She was still alive, but for how long? She wasn't sure, but her mission was still not done. She had to get to the bomb.

"Fifteen seconds." L.E.T.A.'s voice echoed through the ship.

Although she was in excruciating pain, she would push onwards to end the fight. Struggling through it, she would start standing up and painfully maneuver her body around the hole in the ship to get to the bomb. L.E.T.A. began to countdown, and she finally reached the bomb right as the AI said there were only five seconds left. Using the last of her energy, she would type in the code, which was the name of Price's daughter, and the timer would stop at the very last second.

"You have stopped the bomb, well done, Sparrow. I have secured it from exploding once the ship hits land. Its all over, everyone is safe. There are now Braivrok fighter ships falling from the sky." L.E.T.A. says, giving the girl the signal that it was finally over.

Hearing this, Jasmine sighs in relief and would crash to the ground in pain. All her life she had fought as a beggar, a thief, a liar, and a pirate. For once, it was good to know that she was fighting to save everyone. She could feel the ship crashing towards the earth, but she wasn't afraid. As she closed her eyes, she felt like she was on her solar surfer, flying through the sky without a care in the world. It was at this moment that she realized that this was the first time she truly felt free. She wondered if her parents were proud of her, and she wished Silver knew everything she had accomplished. Wishing that she could have seen him again, even though they could never go back to the way things were. As the ship continued to fall, the girl wouldn't realize that a blue dome would form around her, even after everything erupted in fire and smoke all around her.
