Chapter 95

.

Note; "Mysteries of the Universe" was never an actual show. It was from the DVD extras for the 5th season of "Lost."

After speaking with senator Chiles, Will went home. He knew he had a lot of investigating ahead of him before he could seriously consider these accusations. Will went through his father's old VHS tapes, looking for one in particular. It was from a short lived anthology show from the 1980s called "Mysteries of the Universe." They profiled cults, reports of alien abductions, secret societies. If Chiles was telling the truth, then this nazi group was indeed a secret society, and they were indeed infiltrating american society at very high levels. As Will watched this old program, it was clearly sensationalist, appealing to people's fears and love of mystery. Still, three years ago he wouldn't have given much of this show any particular credibility. Now, he had learned not to underestimate what could be true. Will was a journalist, dedicated to the truth. But now, he wondered about this. For the first time in a long time, "Mysteries of the Universe" genuinly frightened him. The narration about secret societies "They look like us, act like us, but they are not us. They are working for an unknown goal. What that goal is, whether they are benevolent or malevolent, remains unknown. They have infiltrated our society at the highest levels. Stay vigilant, a secret society is not above making mistakes. Our best option is to force this secret society into the light of truth." After viewing this program for the first time in decades, Will realized they weren't talking about a specific secret society, they just wanted to intrigue viewers enough to keep watching. But, after everything that Chiles told him, Will was genuinly frightened.
