Thank you to everyone who has read she supported this story so far. I had no intention of making this story this long when I wrote the first chapter. I wasn't even going to post it, to be honest. I never expected to write this much but I fully intend to continue. This has certainly been the most ambitious, and time-consuming, story I've written to date. There will be much more to come so be on the lookout for updates.
Also, is anyone excited for Yashahime?

Inuyasha and I babysat Sango and Miroku's kids today while they went out to spend some quality time together. We'd looked after them a few times before while our friends were out. Sango still had a bit of separation anxiety from Shinichi since he was only a few months old but it was good for her and Miroku to be able to have some time alone.
"Are you sure you'll be okay here?" Sango asked when they dropped the kids off this morning. The girls were already running around and Shinichi started whining when I took him.
"Don't worry about a thing, we'll be fine," I replied.
"Yeah, we've taken care of them before. We'll be fine," Inuyasha said. The twins were now grabbing his legs asking him to play with them.
"Alright, we'll be back this evening," Miroku said, sounding only a bit less worried than Sango. "Come say bye to mommy and daddy girls."
The girls let go of Inuyasha and ran to their dad. Afterwards, Miroku and Sango finally let go of them and left.
"Alright, little ones," I said. "How about we go play outside?"
We took them down near the river and the twins decided they wanted to play tag with Inuyasha.
"You're it!" Midori said, tapping his leg. The two of them ran off while Inuyasha chased after them.
Meanwhile, I sat in the grass with Shinichi. He was starting to learn how to sit up now so I had him on my lap while he watched the others with fascination. Then Inuyasha gave them rides on his back. They screamed and giggled happily as he ran through the trees with them on his back.
"Be careful!" I called. "We need to give them back in one piece later!"
"They'll be fine, Kagome!" Inuyasha called back.
I played with Shinichi until they were done. His little baby laughs were so cute!
When they got tired of running around, Inuyasha took Shinichi while I taught the girls some of the hand games I used to play when I was little.
"Patty cake, patty cake, bakers man. Bake me a cake as fast as you can. Roll it, and pat it, and mark it with an M, and put it in the oven for Midori and Mieko and me!"
They really liked that one. They also liked "I don't wanna go to Mexico no more, more, more. There's a big bad policeman at the door, door, door. If you grab him by the collar, girl you'd better holler, I don't wanna go to Mexico no more, more, more."
"What the heck is Mexico?" Inuyasha asked.
I laughed a bit. "It's a far away country."
"Do another one!" Mieko said. They were clearly enjoying this.
"Miss Mary Mack, Mack, Mack, all dressed in black, black, black, with silver buttons, buttons, buttons, all down her back, back, back," I sang.
"Kagome, none of these songs make any sense," Inuyasha said after that one was over.
"Well they're not really supposed to," I said. "The main thing is that they rhyme."
I taught the girls a couple more and then we went home for lunch. Inuyasha played with the kids while I made food for everyone. Afterward, the girls played with Inuyasha's ears while I cleaned up.
"Who's ready for a story?" I asked when I was finished. Inuyasha looked relieved.
Among the things I had brought back from my era were some old children's books. I had a feeling Miroku and Sango's kids would enjoy them and we could also read them to our children later.
We all sat on the couch, Inuyasha holding Shinichi again and the girls sat on either side of me looking at the Winnie The Pooh book with fascination.
"Who is that, Auntie Kagome?" Midori asked.
"This is the story of Winnie The Pooh, girls. I used to really love this book when I was your age."
I read them the whole book and the girls were absolutely intrigued by it. Even Inuyasha was interested, having never heard of these characters before.
By the time it was over, Shinichi had already fallen asleep and Midori and Mieko were nodding off.
"Looks like it's nap time," Inuyasha said.
We took the children to sleep on the bed in the guest room, then we sat in the main room on the couch.
"They're such sweet little babies," I said. "I love babysitting them."
"Keh, they're a bunch of little brats," Inuyasha said with a smile. "But I agree, it's fun to take care of them."
"I'm just glad I'm here to be able to watch them grow up."
"We're all glad you're here, love," Inuyasha said, holding my hand. "I can't wait to have one of our own," he said after a minute.
"Really, Yasha?" We hadn't talked all that much about having a baby before.
"Of course," he said. He kissed me and then placed his forehead in mine. "I think it would be nice to have the sound of little feet running around our house."
It warmed my heart to know that Inuyasha felt the same way about it that I do. "I agree. One day we will."
He placed his hand on my stomach. It felt warm and I imagined having his baby in there. "I never thought I'd ever want to have children," he said. "Growing up alone, I never wanted a child to have the same fate as me. And I always thought who would want to be with a half-demon anyway. But with you, my mind has been changed."
I placed a loving kiss on his lips. "Any children we have will be very loved and will never be alone."
"One day we'll have a baby, Kagome." He kissed me again.
"When that day comes, you'll be an amazing father."
"And you'll be an incredible mother."
I cuddled into him feeling overwhelmingly happy by our conversation. We spent the next couple of hours cuddling and talking until the children woke up.
By then it was almost time for Miroku and Sango to be back. The girls insisted that I read them another story and they picked one from the few other children's books I had. As soon as it was over, there was a knock on the door.
Inuyasha went to answer it and sure enough, it was Miroku and Sango. Midori and Mieko immediately ran over to them.
"Hey girls!" Miroku said. "Did you have fun?"
"Auntie Kagome read a story about Winnie The Pooh!" Midori said excitedly. I could tell Miroku and Sango were going to hear all about it for the rest of the night.
"Did you have fun?" I said, handing them Shinichi.
"We sure did. Thank you so much for looking after them today. I hope they weren't any trouble," Sango said.
"Not at all," Inuyasha said.
"They were little angels," I added.
"Good. Well, we'll head home," Miroku said. "Say bye-bye to Kagome and Inuyasha girls."
"Bye-bye!" they said.
