Chapter 68: Battles Like No Other
*****Eternal Spring*****
Alya, using the spirit of the kangaroo, jumped in front of a group of retreating agents.
"Going somewhere, boys," she smirked, showing animal-like fangs.
Touching her amulet, the spirit of a gorilla surrounded her. With the spirit's added strength, she charged. Gorilla strength plus monkey agility equals one bad ass girl. Alya was able to dodge their gun blasts, crush their weapons, and knock them out in no less than three seconds.
Huntress swerved in the sky, the blasts never being able to reach her.
"Nice try, boys, but you're gonna have to try harder than that to get me," she snickered.
She took a dive, catching three agents in the open 'V' part of her hover board. Pressing a button, it activated her board's ghost zapper. Pink electricity surged between the two halves of the 'V' and electrocuted the three agents. She dropped them on the ground, the three nearly burned to a crisp and still sparking.
"Quite a shocking development," Valerie smirked, then frowned. "I've been spending way too much time with Phantom."
"I would have to agree, my friend," Kaldur says. "But only on the sarcasm. Spend as much time as you like with Phantom."
Huntress sent a quick glare at the Atlantean.
"Not another word, Kaldur," she glared.
Aqualad held up the trident, multiple streams of water came out. The streams all acted like rope lassos, latching around about a dozen agents and lifting them into the air. With a swing, they were all sent flying. He then slammed down the trident, water swirling around him. It formed a sort-of octopus of water around him, the tentacles lashed around him.
Alya wanted in on the fun. Her eyes going blue, the spirit of an octopus surrounded her.
"Fun time," she evilly grinned.
*****Transylvania*****
Vampires were scattering across the dead forest. Between the high beams, sun guns, and holy water balloons, they were all on edge. The yeti were returning fire with their ice blasts and spears.
"Retreat to the castle," Ethan yelled.
Vampires and yeti alike all ran through the dark woods, back to Dracula's pad.
"Frostbite, set up ice barriers to keep them away from the castle," Sarah told the yeti chief leader.
"Ice wall, my comrades," Frostbite ordered.
Half a dozen yeti warriors raised their spears. They simultaneously shot blasts of ice core energy. They hit the ground, ice forming wherever they hit. Raising the beams, the ice continued to build. It rose up into a thick wall of frozen water. The reflective surface made the high beams and sun gun rays bounce off.
"Not sure how long this will last," Frostbite admitted to the three vampires.
"We need to take care of a large number of them at once," Sarah says.
"What about the Dark Void spell," Ethan suggested, remembering that vampires have their own type of magic.
"The vampiric spell that puts its target to sleep and gives them nightmares," Erica raised her eyebrow. "That spell will help us, how?"
"We do it on a wide spread scale, hitting as many agents as possible," Ethan explained.
"We'll need Dracula for a spell of that magnitude," Sarah said.
The three ran into the castle. They found their king on one of the wall bridges connecting two of the towers. They explained their plan to him, and he fully agreed. They quickly set up the ritual, burning black poppies in magic black fire. A ball of black and purple energy formed.
"Dark... VOID," Dracula cast.
Balls of the dispersed spell launched into the forest.
"Nighty night, losers," Erica smirked.
*****Camelot*****
"There is no more beautiful sight than a ghost dragon burning GIW agents," Mason snickered.
"Goddess Artemis, I pray to thee," Juliet cast.
Arrows made of silver were formed. She threw her hands out, sending the arrows flying. A line of agents fell by her hand.
"Artemis would be proud of how i'm taking care of these men," Juliet smirked, Mason rolling his eyes.
Before more agents reached the mystics, they were sent flying by an unseen force. More were then then knocked off their feet by a green rhino. Looks like and Beast Boy have joined the fray.
"We locked you guys in the castle so you didn't have to deal with the guilt," Juliet reminded, crossing her arms.
"You're not keeping us out of this fight that easily," Gar protested.
"We understand you wanting us to not deal with this, but this is our fight to," Ma'gann told them.
Mason ducked a blast aimed at his head.
"We will continue this conversation later," Mason said, the four returning to battle.
Mason made armor appear on his body. Juliet channeled Hephaestus fire. picked up fallen trees and boulders. Beast Boy changed into a t-rex. But they didn't get far when they had to scatter. Over a dozen anti-magic blasts went soaring in the air.
"DORA, WATCH OUT," Juliet screamed.
The dragon wasn't fast enough. All the blasts hit her dead on. Or rather, undead on. Her ghost subjects flew to her as she crashed to the ground, her amulet falling off. Dora was forced to change back.
"Oh dear," Ma'gann gasped.
One of the knights carried their princess to safety. But growls got the attention of agents that thought they had the battle in the bag.
"You will pay," Mason growled, the dragon amulet currently around his neck.
*****Delos*****
As the moon rose, all of the were-creatures evilly grinned. Moonlight fell over them, and they all changed.
Jacob grew brown fur and a buff body with bear claw hands and feet. Hawk grew wings under his arms with bird claw hands and legs. Lillian had the nine tails of a kitsune with fox claws. Griffin now had lion claws with golden fur and a fierce mane. Celia became a black cat creature, but more dangerous. Selena had antlers sprout from her head, also gaining deer legs and tail. Genesis had the arm-wings of a snowy owl with bird claw legs and amber eyes. Nicos was like Alain's wolf form, only with silver fur. Katie became an orange and black wild cat creature. Jax grew scales with lizard claws. Eros got a horse mane with a unicorn horn and horse hind legs.. Basil had the lower body of a snake with green and black scales with snake fangs and eyes.
Alain and Caitlin were in front, fully transformed. The shock and dangerous auras of their frightening appearances made it seem like the whole battle froze in place. Most of the ghosts had the common sense to back away from the were-creatures.
"I like them more and more everyday," Conner smirked.
"The world is so lucky that your bullet proof skin makes you immune to their infectious bite," Roy said, disturbed by thoughts of a were-creature combined with Superboy's strength, super jump, and anger.
"The moon gives us strength," Caitlin hissed.
"And you're about have all that strength brought down on you like a meteor on a house of straw," Alain growled.
The were-creatures, Red Arrow, Pandora, and Superboy all looked at him in a weird way.
"Okay, I've been spending way too much time with Phantom and Siren," he said.
*****Krinos's Forest*****
"Mother of Demeter, Krinos," Lena swore, looking at the carnage around her. "You did all this!"
"Just goes to show," Krinos crosses his arms. "Don't mess with my forest, cause my forest will fight back."
"Nature certainly does know how to bring the pain," Lena giggled.
They rushed back into the forest. The sirens were continuing the fight. Silas rose his hands in the air, causing streams of pouring rain to shoot out of the sky. The rain shot down agents like bullets.
"Silas, duck," Iris shouted.
The siren of storm hit the ground as rocks started flying over his head. The rocks swirled around her, then threw themselves at the GIW. Some with enough force to go right through their chests. In another part of the forest, Aquata and Fiara were together.
"Let no siren show these monsters mercy," Aquata glared.
"Fire and water, a powerful combo of worked right," Fiara smirked.
Aquata made water swirl high up in the air. It was almost like an airborne whirlpool. Fiara followed with fire spinning just above the ground. Her flames surrounded a large group of agents. Now, most think water and fire cancel each other out. They've never seen a mixture of magical elements.
The two sirens made their elements swirl down, like two opposite spirals. It became a tornado of fire and water. The agents were lifted into the air, and blue energy struck them.
"The reason why siren, even those of opposite elements, work well together," Aquata evilly grinned.
"The trust, the love, the family soul, it all keep us strong and in perfect sync," Fiara gave a creepy smile.
"And the fusion of fire and water is no different," the two opposites maniacally cackled.
*****Witch Academy*****
"Jaime Reyes," the scarab warned. "There is an unknown hostile in your proximity."
Using his armor's scope, he saw a hidden figure aiming something at Siren. He quickly grabbed his boyfriend.
"LOOK OUT," he yelled.
He pushed Siren back just as a black pearl arrow flew at them. Luckily, all it did was cut through a small part of his armor on his arm.
"Gah," he gasped.
"Are you okay," White asked, worried.
"I'll be fine," Jaime assured him. "It's just a scratch."
More arrows started flying at them.
"Bob and weave, Beetle," White called, making evasive flying maneuvers. "Bob and weave."
Beetle changed his armor's gliders into a jetpack and quickly took off. Both flyers dodged countless arrows of black pearl and ectoranium. Siren had a quick action of firing his scream into tree branches to make a leaf screen. It allowed them to disappear. Jetting through the trees, they made their way to Melinda.
"Mel, we have an archer in the trees with a very trigger happy bow," White informed her.
"Oh boy," the witch swore. "This spell should help us quite nicely. Thanatis Icatis Exodus."
A blue energy pulse shot from her hands. Out in the woods, a large twister burst into the sky. Fallen trees, rocks, things, and agents were swept up.
"Melinda, I think you're addicted to tornados," White stated.
"Wizard of Oz had to based off of something," Melinda smirked.
As the cyclone tore through the woods, one figure was forced out of their tree. She wears a predominantly burnt orange and black costume with a hard orange mask that covers her forehead, nose and cheeks resembling a tiger's face. She also wears a black sheath behind her back which stores her sword with a black belt to store her weapons. Her blond hair and eyes told them who she was.
"Artemis," White gasped.
*****Athens*****
"How was Wonderland, Wally," Dick glared at his former best friend.
"I pretty much go by Bolt nowadays," the former Kid Flash glared back.
Nightwing clutched Cavalier's amulet harder. He could only imagine getting these powers while Kid was still on the team. If he couldn't accept the brothers of his best friend having magic, then his actual best friend having magic would have drove him crazy.
"I'd say i'm happy that the Queen of Hearts didn't cut your head off, but i'd be lying," Dick growled.
"You won't get rid of my that easily, Dick," Wally said. "How could you just turn your back on me? Your best friend. We started the team together with Kaldur. Did you really forget all that."
"You are not the person that we started this team with," Dick snapped. "Your bitterness and selfishness about your disbelief in magic separated you from us. We accepted them while you didn't. There is nothing wrong with the mystics."
"It is wrong that they pretend to be make believe creatures and have something as fake as magic," Wally sneered.
"I'll give you fake," Dick says. "In French legend, gargoyles are fierce creatures that were first out in churches to keep evil spirits away. That their intimidation alone could win a battle. They could even drink a river dry. Even to this day, these same creatures are used as part of architecture as a symbol of protection. Time for you to meet the creature that started that legend."
He pulled out one of the amulets Lien gave him.
"Teach him a lesson," Dick called. "Gar-Ghoul."
The stone beast slammed onto the ground.
"Guess i'm now one of those 'make believe' creatures," Dick taunted the former hero.
