A/N – Thanks for the comments! Sherimi – I truly looked for that scene and the one I described was the only Liz begging I could find with him saying something similar re: the business. If anyone finds it, then let me know. Their scenes were so freaking repetitive with the danger etc. that there could be another one out there. Even if she did ask, picking up and leaving when you own a business would be difficult, just like it was hard for her to pick up and leave when Jason asked her back in the day. Obligations were always their downfall. Stay safe and thanks for the discussion.

Chapter 50

Liz looked around their suite in awe. Jason had rented out Melville Castle and the room is exquisite. A large four-poster bed is positioned against the wall with gold curtains tied to each one. There is a deep soaking tub and she is pleased that the room isn't too garish.

"I like it."

Jason slightly smiled. "Look out the window."

A smile lit up her face as she viewed the grounds. "When can we walk around?"

"We can do it later. It will still be light out after dinner."

She turned toward him. "Thank you, Jason. I think the family needed this."

He held his arms out and held her close. It's just the simple moments where they are just being and enjoying each other's energy that he enjoys the most.

The boys are down the hall. Cam has his own room and Jake and Aidan are sharing one. Drew had opted for a suite to keep Danny close by.

There's a knock on the door.

"Come in."

A hostess moves into the room. "Is everything to your liking?"

"It's wonderful."

"The drivers will be here shortly."

"I'll gather the troops," Liz said smiling.

Jason had hired two drivers who will also tag along on outings, that way, if people want to drink then they can.

The couple moved into the hallway.

"Alright, time to move out," Liz said loudly.

Jake poked his head through the doorway. "We're coming."

"Bring a jacket in case the temperature drops."

Cam grinned. "Yes, mother," he yelled.

Liz shook her head. "Good thing no one else is around."

Drew appeared and handed the baby off. "Karissa is changing her shoes."

They are going to do a lot of walking.

Everyone gathered downstairs and then got into the SUVs.

Ryan is driving their car and Shaun the other. They are brothers in their late twenties.

After about twenty-five minutes, the cars are parked, and the group got out.

They are seated at a local brewery. Jason had rented out a room so they wouldn't be disturbed and could be as loud as they want. The waiter went over the drink choices and they ordered as they perused the dinner menu. Most of the guys got a burger or fish and chips. Elizabeth decided to get the steak pie and Karissa got a chicken caesar.

"So, what's the plan tonight?" Drew asked.

"We're going to walk the royal mile for a while. We can split up eventually and the kids can come home later with Johnny."

"That's sounds good," Drew said. They had brought a stroller for Alana.

"There are rides in the middle, so I'm sure you will find something to entertain you," Liz said.

"Tomorrow, we'll go to Edinburgh Castle and then in the evening, we'll eat, and then you guys can have some free time to do whatever you want. I'm taking your mom to the museum and St. Giles Cathedral. I made a list of other places you guys might like to go to. Saturday, we have a surprise tour in the morning and then in the afternoon, I figured we can take a vote.

"I'm fine with the museum," Aidan said.

"Me too," Cam added.

Jake shrugged. "I'm fine with it." From what he had read, it's not a big museum. Elizabeth shared her love of art with her sons, so they appreciate it.

"I'm good with it," Drew said. He's not going o the surprise tour. He'll just take Karissa and Alana to the zoo.

"So, for Saturday, we can go to Camera Obscura & World of Illusions, and there a few hilltop viewpoints. There are also some underground vaults we could explore."

They loved the beer and by the time dinner came, Karissa had a good feel for the family. She'll be sad to go. Alana is such a cutie and Drew seems like a wonderful man.

Once they had eaten, they went for a walk.

Jason made sure that anytime someone lingered a while, he took note and then texted some info to one of the hostesses at the hotel who would send someone to buy them when the shops opened the next day. Their guides had joined them again and shared some history that the family appreciated.

Karissa pushed the baby with Liz by her side.

"You're outnumbered."

Liz grinned. "I know. I'm glad you are here. There is always a lot of testosterone around me."

"You are lucky to have such great men who adore you. You take care of each other."

"Yes, we do. It hasn't always been great, but I love my life. Do you have a big family?"

"No, I'm an only child. My parents live in London, but I like Italy, Sicily, and Spain. I even went to college in Italy."

"How did you get into childcare?"

"I was going to teach, but I ended up helping a state official out at one point and then I just kept getting offers when one would finish. I do have my degree though."

"Well, we appreciate you. The Cain family has been through a lot."

"Yes, it's very sad. I hope that someday he'll be happy again."

"Are you single?"

Karissa smirked. "Are you trying to be a matchmaker?"

"Maybe…"

"I think it will be a while before he opens his heart again. I will leave you my number though. If I'm still single, I'd consider it." It's obvious that Drew is a good man and has a big heart. She can tell just by how loving he is to those around him.

Liz grinned. "I would love to keep in touch. I don't have a lot of female friends in the near vicinity, so it would be nice to have another."

"It's a deal. So, tell me about your art that I keep hearing about."

They chatted a while before catching up with the men. After about an hour, Drew decided it was time to go back and his family and Karissa headed to the van along with Jason and Elizabeth.

Once they made it back to the castle and the kids were down for the count, Liz joined Jason downstairs at the bar.

She sipped some wine while he had some Cognac.

"You up for that walk?"

"Yes."

He told the bartender they'd be back, and they headed outside.

"I would love to paint some of the grounds."

"Take a few pictures so you'll have the reference."

"Good idea."

She took several pictures and they ended up on a small bridge. "Well, it's not back home, but it will do."

He smiled. "I miss Vista Pointe and Nowhere."

"Me too."

His arms enveloped her as she leaned the back of her head against his chest.

"I hope things aren't too awkward with Lucky," she said before turning to face him.

"Me too."

Their lips joined in the sweetest kiss.

He moved her hand down to his back pocket and she felt a bulge.

"What's that?"

"Pull it out and find out."

She moved around him and removed a small box. "What did you do?"

"I did some research and ordered it from a jeweler here."

She took the top off and gasped. "Jason, it's beautiful."

"It's called a Luckenbooth pendant. It's usually a broach, but I like the necklace better. I had them put some rubies on it."

She pulled out the necklace to look at it closer. It's a small heart adorned with a crown.

"It represents love and devotion."

Liz blinked back some tears. "You give the best gifts. Can you put it on me?"

He took it from her and fiddled with the clasp for a moment before securing it.

Her hand pressed it against her chest while her eyes closed, and she processed what he had done. She had read about it and it's common for a man to give it to the woman he'll marry.

"It's so beautiful. Thank you."

They kissed reverently.

"I'm glad you like it."

"You give the most original gifts."

"I try to put thought into it."

"That's why I love your gifts so much."

"It has been a long time. I thought you deserved something new."

She hugged him tightly.

"It's starting to get dark. We should head back."

They walked hand in hand and went back to the bar and finished their drinks. As they were going up the stairs, the boys returned and told them about their adventures.

When morning came, they ate breakfast and then headed to the castle. The view is outstanding. It's overcast, but at least it isn't raining. They waited to see the crown jewels first and then perused various rooms.

"I like vaulted ceilings, but this is ridiculous," Liz said as she looked around the Great Hall.

They had a plan going in because they figured the kids might eventually get bored. There are plenty of other things to see and the boys liked the Prison area. When they were finished, they got something to eat and then the boys went to Arthur's Seat, a hill with stunning views which is an ancient volcano.

Elizabeth decided to nap, so Jason joined her, while Drew, Karissa, and Alana took a stroll around the grounds.

Liz cuddled at Jason's side.

"Tired?" he asked.

"A little bit. I just wanted to relax for a while. Did you enjoy the castle?"

"It was interesting."

"Want to spill your secret for tomorrow?"

He smiled. "Nope. My lips are sealed."

"I'll see about that." She pushed her way up his body and laid a smoking hot kiss on him. After pulling back, she grinned. "Your lips are definitely not sealed."

Instead of replying, he flipped her onto her back and kissed her breathless.

"I know I was teasing before, but I did miss your mouth."

"Ditto. I know it's early, but what do you want for your birthday?"

She smiled. "You."

His brow rose. "What does that mean exactly?"

"I'm hoping that by then we'll be ready to take our relationship to the next level."

He kissed her again, enjoying her plump lips as she moaned beneath him.

"I think that can be arranged."

"Have you given any more thought to what you want to do?"

"It's hard because I'm not sure where we'll end up."

"True."

He adjusted so he wasn't smushing her. "We get to make out until your birthday, right?"

Liz grinned. "I plan on torturing you until then. Jason, are you still going to celebrate your birthday in January?"

He sighed. "I've been thinking about that. I've always run away from Jason Quartermaine. Maybe it's time I accept myself. I know it would make Monica happy."

Liz smiled. "What do you want for your birthday then?"

"Well, you're out of the question."

"You snooze, you lose."

He smirked. "I'll think about it."

"Alright." Her phone rang, so she rolled over to retrieve it in case it was the boys.

"What's up mob momma?"

Liz giggled. "Hey, Piph."

"Have you had your way with my man yet?"

"Not yet."

"What are you waiting for? I swear to God, Webber. You better seal the deal with him. Do I need to come there and show you how?"

"You are ridiculous. Guess where I am?"

"In a bed with Jason?"

"Are you psychic?"

"Shut your mouth."

Liz cracked up. "We're taking a nap before our next adventure. We're in Scotland."

"Wow. Is everyone there?"

"Yup, including Drew and his hot nanny, Karissa."

Jason frowned.

Liz gasped.

"What?" Piph asked.

"Jason, you don't think Karissa is hot?"

He sat up. "I guess she's alright."

Liz couldn't even talk at first. "She's gorgeous."

He moved closer. "She has nothing on you, Elizabeth."

Piph sniffed. "God, I love that man."

Jason could hear her. "I love you too."

"I knew it!" Piph yelled as Jason went to use the bathroom.

"Hands off, he's all mine, or at least he will be on my birthday."

"Why so long?"

"We're doing this the right way. I don't know, it is just exciting. He gave me a necklace that represents love and devotion. We're spending so much time together. Our friendship is getting stronger and that was always the base of everything good between us. I'm okay with moving slow, but when the clock strikes midnight on my birthday, all deals are off."

Piph chuckled. "I'm glad he is respecting you and treating you like a Queen."

"I want to treat him like the King, he is too. I'm have been wracking my brain trying to figure out what I can do for him for his birthday in September."

"Didn't you tell me he doesn't celebrate that one?"

"He usually doesn't, but he said he's willing to start. Can you tell Monica? I'm sure she'll be thrilled and want to send something."

"Suppose she asks what?"

Liz glanced at the bathroom door to make sure Jason was still in there. "Tell her, he'll need leather gloves for his bike. Also, he could use a new helmet. There are ones now that have smartphones connectivity and better visibility. Just tell Stan to send her an email."

"That sounds good."

"I think I already know what I'm getting him. It will take some research, but I'm up for it."

"Well, I'm glad you two are finally getting it together."

Jason laid next to her. "How's Stan?"

"I heard that. Put me on speaker."

Liz did and held out the phone. "Hi, handsome."

"Hello, beautiful."

Piph grinned. "You know I have a smile on my face. Stan is doing well. His wife is pregnant again."

"That's wonderful!" Liz said.

"I know you're excited. Tell him I said hello."

"I will. I'm tempted to move to Atlanta. I feel like I'm missing out on too much here."

"Do what feels right."

She sighed. "It's a lot to consider. When you finally knock Liz up again, I promise I will visit you. I need a godchild."

Liz's eyes grew wide.

"I think you just sent her into shock."

"What? She's still young enough."

"Piph…" Liz said.

"You guys need to stop playing around before it's too late."

Jason smiled.

"I'm serious. I think you need to have a Christmas wedding. Why put it off when you know where this is headed and dammit, I've waited years for this."

"So pushy…" Liz said.

"I'll see what I can do," Jason said.

Piph did a silent cheer. "That's why I love you. Now, go make my girl happy and get me a souvenir."

"I'll get you one. Love you," Liz said.

"Love you too. Bye, Jason."

He chuckled due to the way she said it. "Bye, Epiphany."

She shuddered. "Let me get off this phone before I say something inappropriate."

The line went dead as Jason and Liz laughed.

"I miss her."

Jason pulled her closer. "I'm sorry." He hates that her life was disrupted because of him.

"It wasn't your fault. We can only focus on today and who we are at this moment."

He smiled when her eyes fluttered shut and closed his. He is right where he wants to be.
