A couple weeks later

Eddie was working the evening, which left Jamie with the kids for dinner and baths. She'd hopefully be home in time for bedtime but not guaranteed being a cop.

"Alaina Grace. Get your little butt over here right now...!" Jamie demanded of his 2 year old who was running from him buck naked, leaving wet footprints from just getting a bath all over the house.

"Haha!" She giggled as she got behind the couch. Jamie was just concerned she'd pee or poop in the midst of all this, they haven't started potty training yet and this was why.

"I'm going to count to 3, if you aren't over here when I get to 3 you aren't getting a cupcake tonight." Jamie said sternly pointing his finger. The cupcakes were from her birthday a couple days ago, they were really good and she only got one after dinner. He was hoping it would work.

"Cucake?" She asked.

"Yeah if you want one you need to come get dressed. 1..." Jamie started to count, he had Ryan drinking a bottle in his arms and decided to lay him down on the floor.

"No!" She ran to her bedroom and shut her door laughing. He was trying to get her to understand she was being bad and listening to direction. He didn't always want to just take control and grab her but he had enough after the door slam.

"Alaina!" He raised his voice as he opened the door.

"You don't slam doors!" He told her and then noticed she was standing in the middle of the floor staring down at herself.

"Do you have to go potty?!" He asked panicked. Alaina looked at him with a scared look on her face and then pee started down her leg.

"No no no...!" He picked her up and ran her to sit on the toilet, leaving drips along the way. He held her up under her arms while she sat there, he heard her still peeing. Her little body would fall right in the toilet if he let go.

"Keep going...good job." He told her, the pee stopped a couple seconds later and she looked at Jamie. She was confused.

"Are you done?" He asked her.

"Yes." She said shaking her head and attempting to get off.

"Okay...just wait. You have to wipe." Jamie said and gave her toilet paper. She held it in her hand, looked at it, wiped her nose with it and then threw it in the trash can next to the toilet.

"You know what..we'll let mommy explain that one." He said laughing and lifted her off.

"Good job Lain! Look..." he said and pointed to her pee in the toilet. She clapped for herself and then Jamie showed her to flush and say bye bye.

"Alright wash your hands." Jamie said, she got up on the stool and Jamie helped her.

"Jamie?" Eddies voice called out.

"Hey!" He said as Alaina was finishing up drying her hands she ran out to see Eddie and Jamie followed but stopped to wipe up the pee dribbles on the floor first.

"Woah! Naked baby!" Eddie said laughing.

"Yeah...tell mommy what you just did!" Jamie told her excited, kneeling down next to her.

"Pee!" She said enthusiastically.

"You peed!...?" Eddie was confused.

"On the potty!" Jamie added. Eddies eyes grew wide and she smiled.

"What!? No way!" She said excited and then Alaina ran off naked again.

"Alaina you need to get a diaper and clothes on we aren't playing games!" Jamie said walking toward her bedroom she ran into. Ryan started fussing his bottle was empty so Jamie picked him up.

"You want mommy?" He asked and turned back around to let him see Eddie.

"What's wrong?" Jamie asked caught of guard by the tears in Eddies eyes.

"She peed on the potty?" She asked.

"Aw babe I'm sorry, I didn't know it would make you upset. It was an accident honestly." He said genuinely.

"How did she accidentally pee on the potty?" Eddie asked crying so sadly. Jamie was extremely caught of guard and tried to just give her a hug.

"She was running around naked after her bath, she wouldn't listen to me and get dressed, she ran to her room and when I got in there she was starting to pee on the floor so I picked her up and put her in the bathroom. I didn't know what else to do it was just instinct...I'm sorry...should I of let her just go on the floor?" He asked still holding her in a side hug.

"Huh no. I'm sorry...I'm sorry." She rubbed her eyes and took a breath.

"It's okay babe...did you have a rough day?" He questioned and let go of the hug.

"Yeah...this little girl was left alone at the scene of her parents suicide..." Eddie cried thinking about the orphan.

"That's terrible. I'm sorry you had to deal with that." He told her.

"I just can't stop thinking about how much those parents are going to miss out on in her life. But she's going to grow up now without needing her parents because she has no choice. I don't want to miss anything with my kids, I need them to need me." She pleaded emotionally.

"Eddie..." Jamie said softly and set Ryan down so he could hug her.

"They do you need you." He told her.

"I know." She whispered back.

"Hell...I told Lainey to wipe...she wiped her nose and threw it in the trash. I'm not teaching her that, that's all you babe." He told her. Eddie let go of Jamie and laughed at it.

"Oh my." She said and wiped her tears. She looked down and saw Ryan looking back at her, concerned for his mom and why she was upset. She picked him up and gave him a kiss.

"I love you." She told him. He laid his head on her shoulder. Alaina came out of her room looking to see where Jamie was. He never came after her like she thought.

"Hey. C'mon Lain...let's get dressed now." He said when he saw her. She immediately giggled and ran away. Jamie made eyes with Eddie.

"This has been the night." He said.

"Here." Eddie gave him Ryan and went to take care of Lainey.

"C'mon Lain, let's go pick out some pajamas." Eddie said and went to her room, thinking she'd follow.

"No." She told her. Eddie poked her head out of the room.

"Excuse me?" She asked shocked with that mom eye.

"1...! 2...!" Eddie started counting very sternly. Alaina ran toward her scared.

"That's what I thought." She said and looked at Jamie, he smiled and shook his head.

Everyday is different with these kids. Sometimes they listen, sometimes they do the complete opposite. Can't help but feel for Eddie missing out on a milestone with her first born. At least it wasn't Jamie's intention, it was an honest accident. Maytbe this will get the wheels in motion to start really potty training now that she did it once.
