Dragon Ball: Governed

Chapter 51 - Should have Stayed Home

"What a waste…"

Those words repeated in Kakarot's head as if they were a broken record. These were the words he spat out in disgust to his son before he made the decision of striking him until he was at death's door - barely alive. Kakarot's instinct for battle - the power and adrenaline he felt; it was all too much - even for him. Simply reminiscing back on his actions caused his hairs to stand up right as a chill went through his spine.

Sitting down in his Saiyan armor as he flew on his star ship, which had been left unattended to for years on Earth, Kakarot felt like he just time travelled to decades before Earth - when he was still a genocidal pirate. Though one glimpse at the Saiyan from anyone even remotely familiar with Freeza's organization would immediately have him pegged as a conqueror, he didn't come with such a malicious goal. Back then, his sole purpose consisted of pillaging worlds and pirating in hopes of growing stronger and gaining enough profit to benefit the needs of Freeza to ultimately benefit himself and Turles, his only mentor growing up.

Though Kakarot was hell-bent on returning to old ways, he was doing so for different reasons - reasons that didn't serve Freeza, but reasons that would be at the tyrant's expense.

The entire Freeza organization had to be put out of its misery - Saiyans included. This was the only way he could ensure that Earth would remain safe forever. Sure, he had already taken care of a Universal threat, though the man didn't see it like that; Kakarot only saw Boo as a threat to his world, and so it caused him to think about other potential threats. If he could beat someone stated to be able to disembowel Freeza effortlessly, then what was stopping Kakarot from doing the same? He had no interest in taking Freeza's spot anymore. The only thing on his mind was ensuring the safety of the place he considered home.

Having already taken care of a few of Freeza's bases within hours, Kakarot was on his way to go for his fifth location. He didn't didn't plan on getting any sleep until all of them were done. It didn't matter how long it would take. Being a Super Saiyan, he didn't need rest - just sheer determination and raw power.

"This is utterly ridiculous," Raditz huffed.

During Freeza's absence, there only remained Raditz, Kikono, BeriBlu, and Kureeza. Prince Vegeta was out travelling to Planet Vampa so his assistance wouldn't be available. It wasn't like it would be needed anyway. All of the assaults on Freeza's owned planets thus far were merely filled with weaklings. Any Saiyan combatant would have been capable of taking care of them in their sleep.

"Four planets were taken care of in just 2 hours…" Kureeza hissed. His displeasure was noted by how his tail wagged side to side. If Freeza was there, there was no telling how he'd react. Perhaps it was good he was off on business otherwise they wouldn't hear the end of it; for them, it would be in their best interest to take care of the problem themselves as a way for Freeza to see that they could most definitely handle outrageous situations on their own.

"And another one will be taken care of if we don't figure out where the next target is," Kikono shrieked. "Oh, Lord Freeza is going to have our heads once word gets out!"

"Not necessarily," BeriBlu chimed in. With the click of a button on a little remote, a holographic image of all of Freeza's owned planets spread throughout the cosmos appeared in the middle of the room. The ones dotted red were the owned planets that were no longer active - the ones that Kakarot had recently taken care of. Though Freeza had dozens upon dozens of his own planets where he settled his affairs, there had still been a mess up in business. He wouldn't like it one bit but BeriBlu realized he'd very much also appreciated it if they got to the bottom of the problem, so the blue-skinned, frail looking lady remained with a cool head. Glancing at everyone, BeriBlu asked, "Notice a pattern?"

"Not really," Kikono said. He didn't even bother in taking the time to use his head.

"Wait a second…" Raditz took a few steps closer to get a better look, stroking his chin. He pointed at two dots near one another. "These two planets were attacked first, both done in under half an hour." Sticking his hand out, he pointed to the other two. "And those were conquered in just over an hour and a half…" His tail started to wag as he grew into deep thought. There was a pattern indeed.

"Our little trigger happy guest is hopping to the nearest planet right after the other," Kureeza pointed out. "That's the little pattern, is it not, Ms. BeriBlu?"

"Mhm," she confirmed.

"Judging by this person's last attack, Freeza Planet 80 is next on the list." Raditz scoffed. "With audacity comes foolishness." Turning his back, Raditz walked out. Just as he exited the room, the Saiyan grabbed an arm-band that stood on the counter of the room.

The armband that belonged to Vosa.

Whether people looked at karma as something deeply rooted in life since time immemorial or if it just happened to be a mere coincidence, it was still something that took place in every world. Those that did evil had evil done to them. If not, then it was inevitable that it was going to happen. The same applied to those who did good. Still, those who did evil had good things done to them and vice versa. Now was one of the times where those who participated in evil in any manner, shape or form, had it come back to them...tenfold.

Even the men and women who were simply engineers in the Freeza Force aided and abetted for those who did horrendous things. The average worker in Freeza's Army still had to pay the price eventually for taking part in the lives that had been lost with their help - no matter how big or small.

One of the engineers of Planet 80 was paying his price. Though he only fixed up ships that had soldiers leave and work to kill, he was now the victim. A Saiyan's boot was over his head, looking down on him, so the Freeza Force employee was forced to submit. Soiling himself with tears falling down his eyes as his body shook in fear, the alien hoped that Kakarot would spare him. But he wasn't as forgiving as he made himself out to be on Planet Earth.

"Causing a scene won't get you out of this. It's best you man up and take what's coming to you like a man." His words of promise didn't help as the man cried out even louder. He couldn't get the sounds of his peers screaming in pain as they were slaughtered out of his ears. The sight of blood splashing in the air and body parts being decapitated was more shocking than he could ever imagine. To witness what a soldier of the Freeza Force had to do was nothing short of tragic. Had he seen it with his own eyes early on in his tenure, then the engineer probably wouldn't have anything to ever do with Freeza's Army.

"P-Please...I-I-I'll...I'll even turn myself in to the Galactic Patrol! JUST PLEASE SPARE ME! PLEASE! I BEG OF Y-!"

But his words had been cut short.

Blood leaked from the hole in his head. His eyes rolled back and the crying had come to an absolute stop. Kakarot didn't have to drive himself crazy listening to his weeping anymore. It was honestly a pathetic sight.

The sounds of applause snuck up from behind as Kakarot sensed a great power approach, Kakarot's eyes widened at the very thought. Could it be Freeza? It had to be! Surely enough, there was no soldier in his force that could amount to such power. Though shock was quickly replaced by excitement. His Saiyan blood started to boil. He had ascended the natural limitations of any of his kind. There was no way he was going to lose. And for Freeza to know how to suppress his power? It would only make the battle more interesting.

Once the clapping stopped, the man asked Kakarot, "Do you really expect to be able to conquer every planet Lord Freeza owns? Did you even care to think - for just one second - that you wouldn't get caught by one of his superiors? Seriously, how ignorant must you be...little brother."

That wasn't Freeza.

Slowly, the younger of the two turned around. It had been years since Kakarot had come face to face with his older brother. Hell, part of him wished that he was dead some time ago. Not only did Raditz call him weak when he was a child, but blamed him for the death of his mother! Though he didn't outright say it, the manner in which Raditz spoke to him made Kakarot feel as if he had been disowned by his own flesh and blood. He never thought he'd see him again - not so soon at least.

Kakarot smiled. "Long time no see, Raditz." He crossed his arms. "Good to see that long hair of yours hasn't managed to be your undoing in a fight yet. Maybe that's why you happen to be so strong; someone grab your head and whoop you? You ran away to lick your wounds clean?"

Wow. He sure didn't expect to be greeted with such a ridiculous remark but Raditz would be lying to himself if he didn't love it. He howled in laughter at his little brother's remarks to the verge of tears. "It's been so long since I heard a good joke, Kakarot! Good one!" He then got serious. "Care to explain this nonsense before I kill you?"

"What do you think?" Kakarot chuckled. "Finishing what I started years ago."

Raditz didn't respond for a moment. The winds blowing in the air was the only sound that substituted silence. He pondered about it for a moment. Every now and then Kikono or Freeza would bring up how someone had a brave heart to attack one of the Saiyan's establishments where they were training a race to join the Freeza Force. "So it was you...all that time ago. I thought our father had taken care of that problem all that time ago. Heh. He spared your life, didn't he?"

"Oh, you'd be shocked to find out how everything unfolded."

"Try me."

"To make a long story short, the man that mentored me was the reason our mother died. I worked with him willingly as he held this information from me for years. It came from the horse's mouth as he fought father and I overheard it all. We both killed him and we went about our separate ways; simple as that."

"So father let you go. You grieved for what - 20 years? Now you finally find the stomach to come back and finish the job?"

"Hmp. Something like that."

Raditz spat at the ground. "I'll have you know that I don't hold any soft spots for anybody, Kakarot - not even you. Bardock doesn't he compare to the warrior I am today. Prepare yourself!"

Fazing out of sight, Raditz made it appear as if he was nowhere to be found. As his older brother did zig-zags all around him, Kakarot focused on the chi surrounding him. Of course, growing up in an organization that knew no depth of knowledge regarding ki, Raditz would expect to throw his little brother off by skipping all over the place. As he focused, Kakarot pinpointed Raditz easily. Feeling a presence from behind, Kakarot stepped to the side, grabbed Raditz's boot and tossed him over to a collapsed building in the area.

Raditz recovered quickly by performing back-flips. Jumping off his hands, he charged two purple waves of ki and launched them at full-power. Kakarot cancelled both attacks out with balls of energy and rushed Raditz through the smoke by smashing his elbow against the Saiyan's cheek. Raditz's scouter was knocked off and he started to stumble back. A solid punch to the gut was enough to overwhelm him and cause him to spit out saliva on Kakarot's forearm, which the younger used to strike Raditz on the ground.

Towering over his older brother proudly, Kakarot scolded him. "You're outmatched, Raditz! Give up while you still can. Or end up like that clown you saw dead before me."

Looking at the blood that leaked from his mouth onto his back-hand, Raditz coughed. His eyes were wide and shaking - not just out of shock, but agony as well. Just a few strikes and Raditz felt like all of his insides were beginning to erupt; it wasn't hard to tell that Kakarot wasn't trying his very hardest, so for Raditz to continue fighting head on would be suicidal on his behalf. Knowing of only one way to garner victory, Raditz hoped to achieve the element of surprise. "F-Fine…" Hiding his face with his hand as he wiped leaking blood from his chin, Raditz made the small effort in hiding his malicious grin as well. "You win, little brother." Raditz spoke sadly, as if he accepted defeat. Even though Kakarot should have saw this coming, the younger sibling's head was swelling up too much with pride at the fact that he overpowered his older brother to realize that Raditz had something up his sleeve. As soon as Kakarot took a step forward, Raditz unleashed a crackling wave of ki at Kakarot. "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA!"

The explosion formed a crater right in that very area and kicked up a heap of smoke as well. By the intensity and heat from his attack, Raditz expected to see a burning body with a lack of armor, unable to stand a second longer before he made an inevitable fall to his death place; oh, how wrong he was.

"Bad choice." Kakarot swiped his hand through the dust. "You didn't even singe the hairs on my tail."

Jolting back up and hopping back, Raditz growled in frustration. "No way you took that head on! I had you!"

"Join me," Kakarot told Raditz. "See, I can forgive ignorance. Together you and I can take down Freeza and his entire system if we so desired. With our parents blood coursing through our veins, you see what I'm capable of. You are too. Together, we can be unstoppable."

"Tch! Just like every other ingrate! I can't believe how full of themselves my people are. You truly underestimate Lord Freeza, little brother. That will be your undoing."

Kakarot's lips curled into a unconcerned grin. "Think Freeza can beat a Super Saiyan?"

"Wha-"

Kakarot's energy bubbled around him. Raditz, looking down beneath, witnessed the ground tremble at his very feet. Dark clouds came before them and lightning struck. As rained poured on their bodies, the golden energy that flickered from his brother caused him to take a few steps back. There was no way - not Kakarot! Even if they had the same blood, Raditz was born with higher potential than Kakarot - a lower-class warrior. For him to be as strong as he was just ludicrous - much more to be a Super Saiyan!

"I'm not letting you do as you please, fool!" Raditz, yelling at the top of his lungs, fired off energy wave after energy wave with as much power as he could. He wasn't going to stop until he was sure that Kakarot dropped dead.

But the sudden jolt of pressure emanating from Kakarot's body forced Raditz off his feet and onto his back.

The dust settles. The shaking stops. The rain gets lighter by the second and the dark clouds begin to go away. All there's left is a bright golden aura as well as a completely different transformation before him.

Raditz didn't even know what to say.

"Go through the stages: denial, anger, bargaining...let it all cloud your judgement for the next half-minute." Aiming his hand for Raditz, he spoke once more. "This is the last thing you'll see before I send you to hell."

Raditz chuckled. "Not if you go there first."

Kakarot's golden aura disappears. His hair changes back to its normal state. His hands, trembling, find their way back to his chest. There, he sees blood falling down the crevices of his chest-plate. Clenching his jaw and grinding his teeth, Kakarot tries to figure out what the hell just happened. One second he was right on top beginning to deliver the finishing blow and he was struck from behind? But by who? Raditz's eyes lit up with delight at the sight of his little brother's perplexed expression.

"There you go, little brother!" Raditz chortled. "Go through the stages, denial...anger...just like you were babbling about just a few seconds ago! Your end is right here and right now!" Raditz towers over Kakarot as he falls over on one knee. "You're no true Super Saiyan, Kakarot - just some wannabe."

Just out his peripheral vision, Kakarot spots a tail whisking by. Kureeza, who's taken an entirely different form, stops by Raditz's side to get a good look at Kakarot from the front. "Just in time to save your hide…"

"Yeah, what else is new," Raditz joked dryly.

Kureeza just gave Kakarot one little glance before eyeing Raditz and frowning at him. His disappointed expression quickly faded though and he continued to speak with Raditz normally as if nothing had transpired. Raditz knew that Kureeza was displeased at the fact he didn't get a go at Kakarot for himself, but Raditz had given him the signal and Kureeza was never one who liked to disappoint.

"You never told me you had a brother - that's new."

"Was never worth mentioning."

Kakarot struggles to stay on one knee in an effort to bring out no display of weakness. In his eyes is pure hatred. The need to slaughter him and rip Raditz's head off eats at his mind. He wants nothing more than to blow up the entire planet at this point.

"After all these years, Kakarot, you decided to come back and finish the job; whenever you had the choice to stay put safe and sound wherever you were, you decided to come here, and I'm sure for great reason. Part of me wants to believe it was your Saiyan blood forcing you to do battle with the impossible but I realize you're too smart for that." Kakarot's chin is lifted up and he's forced to look into his brother's black, beady eyes. "I'm going to find out why. Oh, and when I do...I'm going to kill what you're protecting."

Kakarot makes an attempt to chomp his bloody teeth at Raditz's neck while he's so close but fails as he is met with a smack to the face that sends him falling on his side. "You are a feisty one, aren't you!?" Raditz stood back up and crossed his arms. "Must have gotten that from mother."

"So ferocious," Kureeza mused. "I like him." In Kureeza's eyes, this was rather unfortunate. With his power, Kakarot would have made for a fine spot in the Freeza Force. That didn't matter, though. This supposed Super Saiyan was against the organization. This meant that he had to die. "So are you going to finish it or will you leave me to finish the job...as usual."

"I'll gladly do it." Raditz takes a few steps forward with his hand just inches above his head. Sparks of electricity jump around his twitching fingertips. "I'm proud of you, little brother. Yet...I'm also disappointed."

Just as Raditz begins to reach for Kakarot to end him, the younger brother squeaks out only two words deemed incoherent to both Raditz and Kureeza. A bright light envelops the entire area as a boom is heard. The impact sends Kakarot off the cliff of the mountain that they were on, leaving him to fall deeply into a body of water below.

With the smoke cleared, there is nothing but a gigantic crater before Kureeza and Raditz.

"All of this drama for such a melodramatic ending," Kureeza said, shaking his head. He knew his father wouldn't be happy about any of his planets being torn down to absolutely barren wastelands, but at least they managed to nip the problem in the bud before they got home. It still gave Kureeza a migraine thinking about it. "Let's go."

Though in the eyes of Raditz and Kureeza, Kakarot's body had been vaporized, the Saiyan barely made it out with the solar flare technique he learned from Tien. With his body on the edge of the river bank, hanging on by a thread, he uses most the strength he has left to keep himself from flowing with the current. As for the little bit...Kakarot used the tip of his finger to cauterize the wound in the middle of his chest caused from Kureeza's death-beam.

There wasn't a senzu bean this time around. And regardless of if he was to make it or not, he couldn't help but think about his family.

Gohan and Chi-Chi.

He should have stayed home.

The excitement that came with training was no longer there. Right outside his house, as he went through a series of shadow boxing mixed with kicks and other forms of Martial Arts, Gohan felt as if he was in total limbo. His mind was empty. The sweat pouring down on his face and dripping onto his chin wasn't felt, nor was the hot sun beaming down on his tanned back.

With his father's actions, there was a gaping hole in his soul that he never thought even existed. He now knew what depression truly felt like. If it weren't for the possibility that Kakarot would return, Gohan wouldn't be training right now; if it were up to him, the Earth-raised half-saiyan would just lie in his bed all day and spend his funk up keeping his eyes closed and shut himself out from reality

Inside the house, Chi-Chi watches her son train through the window. Her expression of sorrow can be felt by Gohan on the outside, but the boy continues his training. He had been like this ever since Kakarot left. She could count on just one hand how many words Gohan had shared with her from the moment that everything calmed down.

There was a complete mix of emotions. From the words of Shin himself, Kakarot stated that he allowed himself to gain power through Babidi as he saw it the only way to beat Dabura and even Boo, on the chance that he would be freed. Still, that didn't justify the fact that Kakarot mercilessly slaughtered Gyumao and brought his own child to the brink of death.

Tears swelling up in her eyes, the tears began to fall incessantly. What was all this for, truly?

Out of the corner of his eye, Gohan saw his mother with her face buried in the palm of her hands, sobbing. There were moments where he saw Chi-Chi filled up with so much happiness that she would cry, though this was the first time he's witnessed her breakdown full of despair. His training came to a halt as he even started to get teary-eyed. He took a few steps forward but stopped in his tracks once again. He and his mother both raised their heads to see a bright shining light above the sky.

With the hellish power Boo and Kakarot had emitted, the satellites that aided in detecting any nearby unidentified flying objects were no longer functioning. Still, it didn't mean that expert fighters with the knowledge of ki weren't able to detect when someone was coming.

Having entered Planet Earth's atmosphere, Gine was feeling a numerous amount of emotions. The last time she had taken off to occupy a different planet was when she was on her last assignment with Bardock and their crew. As soon as they landed, it was search and kill, something she was only good at whenever she was stronger. This was a different matter, though. Bardock told her to come to this world in order to seek refuge. Hopefully, she could find these two Saiyans Bardock spoke of and everything would be okay until the situation with the Saiyans and Freeza blew over.

The pod she used landed softly as legs came from under it. Exiting the space travelling object, Gine hopped down onto Planet Earth's tall green grass in a mountain region right next to a stream of water. The air was nice and refreshing, even more than her planet. As she took a few steps over to the sparkling water, her eyes spotted fishes jumping out and plopping right back in. Birds chirping and flew from their trees. To say the least, it was a harmonious sight for her. She was rather relieved that she didn't have to come here and ruin its beauty.

Bending down, she scoops water into the palm of her hands and splashes it into her face. Full of so much worry after being sent off, Gine didn't do as much as get any sleep. She barely even ate. The next best thing for her to do would probably be to just find a proper area to lie her back down and get some rest prior to heading out and finding the people that Bardock spoke of.

But of course, one's plan almost never goes the way that they intend.

"What are you doing here?"

The sudden voice behind Gine startled her and caused the woman to jump to the other side of the river. Her tail wagged back and forth as she raised her hands up defensively. This young man most definitely appeared to be someone of great strength, judging by his build. Shirtless in baggy pants with sweat pouring down his body, he looked like anybody that had just got done brawling. The narrowed eyebrows and eye expression he gave her was also an indication of potential hostility - that or apprehension. She wondered if this man was Onio, but by the way Bardock described him to her before she left, he couldn't be.

"What's the matter?" Gohan asked. "Cat got your tongue? I asked you a question."

"Do...do you know a many by the name of Onio? I was told to come look for him." Upon looking him up and down, she noticed how he had a tail just like hers. He had to be Onio! He was a Saiyan, too! Relief came over her and Gine lowered her defenses. "So you are him!"

"My name is Son Gohan." His eyes glanced to where Gine was staring; his tail. "So, you're looking for a Saiyan named Onio? He's not here; never heard of him."

"But...you're a Saiyan…"

"Half," Gohan sternly corrected.

Just then, a group of people all appear alongside Gohan. None of the others that arrived took the appearance of a Saiyan by any means. This caused her to worry and put her guard back up.

"What the hell is going on now," Tien asked.

"You better make your intentions clear now," Gohan told her. "If you've come to conquer our world, we'll put you down right there before you can even blink."

"I haven't come looking for trouble," Gine assured the young man. "Besides, I wouldn't dare try. You all outnumber me."

"I'd say the same thing too if I were in your shoes," Krillin remarked. This elicited a scoff from Gohan and Chi-Chi, both of whom weren't buying her words.

"Cut the lady some slack," Roshi told them. "She hasn't come with any malintent."

"You read her mind, didn't you," Chi-Chi observed.

This caused Gine to blink for a few seconds. Were these supposed inferior creatures truly capable of mind-reading? She had no scouter, so she was not able to tell how strong they were, but if what they lacked in strength made up for in other ways, then there could be a reason why life was still seemingly untouched and also explain why there was no supposed trace of Onio.

"I did," Roshi said. "Give the woman a chance to introduce herself." A smile formed on her face. "She just might surprise you."

Still cautious with the knowledge that they knew she was a Saiyan, Gine wrapped her tail around her waist. Still, she felt somewhat relieved that one of them knew she didn't come here to bestow harm upon anyone. "Well, my name is Gine. I'm sure you know I come from a world called Planet Vegeta. My mate, Bardock, advised me to come here and seek refuge for safety."

"Bardock?" Gohan repeated. Gine nodded her head in approval. Swearing that he's heard that name thrown around at least a handful of times in his household growing up, Gohan turned to look at his mom. "Why does that name sound so familiar?"

"Bardock is the name of my husband's father…" Chi-Chi explained.

"Husband?" Marriage wasn't a tradition on Planet Vegeta, but she had gotten around long enough to know that husband was synonymous to having a life-partner - a mate to be exact. "Is it Raditz? Is Raditz your husband?" She hopped back across to the other side of the river, causing everyone to back up. The bit of worry she had earlier was replaced by pure curiosity.

"Raditz is Kakarot's brother. Kakarot is my husband."

Gine almost choked as she covered her face. Smiling, she was just happy to know her son was actually alive. "So, Kakarot is still alive? Oh...my boy is safe!"

Tien looked at Krillin, who looked at Chaotzu, who looked at Roshi, who was just smiling. The old man had knew from the moment he read her mind and he didn't bother in hiding his giant smirk.

"If I may inquire," Gohan started, "how are you related to Kakarot?"

"He's my son!" Gine told him. "My second and youngest. So he's come down here and lived a life of his own - free away from Freeza? Do any of you realize how amazing that is!?"

"Unfortunately, he's headed back to that world," Gohan explained to her. "Now that he's a Super Saiyan, he wants to take it upon himself to dismantle Freeza's entire organization and take it for his own."

"Super Saiyan?" Gine shook her head as she chuckled. "No, no...that's just a child's story. There's no such thing as a Legendary Super Saiyan."

"Want me to show you? I am my father's son after all…"

"No, Gohan, we didn't come here for anybody to show off." Stepping forward, Roshi took his hand out. "My name is Muten Roshi. This woman right here is Chi-Chi, your son's wife. And this cocky boy we have right behind us is Gohan, your only grandson."

Looking into Gohan's eyes as she shook Roshi's hand, the Saiyan wondered how she couldn't see it before. He had Kakarot's eyes and Bardock's face, as well as Raditz's hair. He was like all three of them mixed up into one. And having a tail, there was no doubt in her mind that he was her blood. With emotions of joy overcoming her, Gine grabbed her estranged Grandson and reeled him in for a hug. "Oh, it's so nice to meet you...I never would have thought I'd see a day to actually meet one of my own grandchildren! You have no clue how rare it is for us back home to live so long to see something like this!"

Just standing there with this weird embrace, Gohan didn't know how to feel. This woman was his grandmother - from his father's side. She truly didn't appear to be all that bad. Her hug felt just like those same hugs Gyumao would always give him. Gohan didn't hug her back but instead patted her on the shoulder. It was far too awkward for him. This woman, someone he's never met, yet also the mother of his father, the same man who just killed his mother's father and almost killed him, was hugging him with nothing but joy and excitement. There was a mixture of emotions swelling up inside.

"This is honestly so awkward," Krillin remarked. "If I knew this would be going down, I'd have a lawn chair, some popcorn, and a cold drink."

"That explains everything," Chi-Chi spoke up. "Kakarot didn't just use the Dragon Balls to wish my father back to life...he wished you back to life as well."

Gine nodded. "And I'm forever grateful for that. If not for him, I would have never gotten to rejoice with Bardock or meet my grandson. It's crazy to think Kakarot could give the greatest gift by bringing me back to lie." She laughed to hold back tears. "I don't know what to say...I don't know if this is all a big, happy coincidence...or fate."

"Welcome to Earth," Roshi told her. "I'm sure you're wanting to be brought up to speed on a lot of things of what's been going on - especially about Kakarot." Gine nodded. "Chi-Chi's home isn't far from here. Follow us."

There was a huge part of Gine that just wished she could convince Bardock to come with her. He missed out on perhaps the biggest surprise of his life. But sure enough, in due time.

For Paragus, it appeared as if nothing had changed back home. The royal palace looked all the same. Walking up the trails back on his homeworld's atmosphere, the elder felt all kinds of nostalgia run through him. Though having the choice to relive his past, he didn't want to. He had only one goal on his mind now.

Broly and Zima listened to Prince Vegeta as he gave them a tour on their way to the throne room. He showed him the locations of all the areas and workers. Of course, before they went to the throne room, he had to dress Zima, Broly and Paragus in proper attire. The former of the two didn't like the chest-plate, so he stuck with a black spandex that revealed every muscle in his body. He was built like a literal hulk.

As they entered the throne room, Paragus had to hold his breath. One of the stained windows he shot through had been repaired, looking as if he had never flown through it before to go after his son. His body temperature rose as his temper did. This was the place where he learned of his son's exile. This was where both Paragus and Zima stopped listening to Prince Vegeta and let all those hurtful memories come back.

But worst of all, seeing the new King Vegeta on the throne. Save for his facial hair and shorter stature, he looked just like his father - from his hair, face, down to the way he sat in his condescending manner.

Seeing his son coming back, Vegeta grins. He was full grown now and had all the power in the world. With each passing day meant a day closer to Freeza's demise and he loved every second of the journey! "Well, well, welcome back home, boy." Glancing at the three other Saiyans, a brow furrowed. "And who are these?"

"I found these three by coincidence on one of my assigned missions," Prince Vegeta explained. "They are Saiyans like us, but they were trapped on a planet away from here for years with no way to get back in touch. Just dumb luck."

He immediately believed his son. Though he never heard about it, it dawned upon Vegeta that each of these three Saiyans must have been dealt a hard hand on the planet they were on - judging by their scars - especially Zima's. Asides from the old man, he thought that they would prove to be useful soldiers, though he didn't have a scouter at this very moment to confirm it.

"Tell me your names," Vegeta ordered.

Just as much as being told to do something from any Vegeta felt to be an insult to Paragus and Zima's pride, but the two had to. If they were going to come on top and play the long game, they had to swallow their pride and endure it for the time being.

Placing his fist over his heart, Paragus introduced himself. "My name is Paragus, King Vegeta. I was the colonel of the Saiyan Army during your father's tenure as the one to hold the throne."

"That explains the old age," Vegeta remarked. A vein appeared on Paragus' forehead, but it went unnoticed by the king, who was looking at Zima. "And you?"

"The name is Zima, my king. I was nothing but a combatant before being stranded as a child. I had the potential to be on your level - some assumed."

Vegeta laughed. "As if ever. And you?"

"Broly," the man simply answered. Silence overcame the room as Vegeta made it quite obvious he expected Broly to expand upon his words.

"That all?"

"Yes."

Paragus looked away briefly to hide his subtle grin. Broly was taught proper etiquette though the fact that he didn't refer to Vegeta as his king was humoring to him.

"Excuse my son, Broly," Paragus coughed through his fist. "He didn't grow up on Planet Vegeta."

"I can excuse him not knowing how to refer to me properly due to not being here, but that's something I expect to be corrected ASAP. Understood?"

"Understood, my king."

"Now, to real business," King Vegeta said. "You three have found your way back home at the perfect time. Boy, how long until Freeza arrives?"

"Approximately 70 hours," Prince Vegeta confirmed.

"You have come back to witness the Saiyans return to their glory days," King Vegeta told the three returning Saiyans. "He will crumble at our very feet and we will be the ones to take the Universe. My father has already dispatched King Cold with his utter cunning and genius mind. But my son and I? We will do so by sheer power." The look of pure shock on Paragus' face brought a smile to the king. "Shocking, I know. You wonder where my confidence stems from? Heh. Don't worry about it. Just know...in approximately seventy hours...Freeza is dead."

After getting properly introduced, Gine and everyone shared their own stories, from start to finish. Once the female Saiyan took the spotlight, everyone shut up and listened. They never got much out of Kakarot how the system of the Saiyans worked, especially given that he was taken under a renegade's tutelage for the majority of his life, but Gine, having lived through it all, answered any question that everyone had running through their minds.

Initially, everyone was under the impression that all Saiyans were blood-thirsty with a hunger for battle and destruction. They believed that they were born this way, though it couldn't be further from the truth. Just like any other sentient being in the world, Saiyans were a direct product of their environment. If from birth, you're raised and taught to fight and conquer worlds, it will be seen as something as normal. Add that to the intrinsic desire for physical altercation, and you get a civilization entirely built on conquering, pillaging, and pirating. Still, Gine was an exemption to the rule, as well as some other Saiyans she had come to know along the years. Bardock, though taking a big part in killing, was still a bit different from most.

"The world may not be as great as everyone thinks it is, but the bit of light still has a hold over the darkness." Roshi took off his shades and wiped them before putting it back on. "Amazing. Truly."

"There won't be much light any longer if things continue to go the way they are going."

Looking over, Shin and Kibito make an appearance. The latter of the two is shown with a halo over his head, though that was expected to be rectified soon; there were more important matters at hand. Before anyone can say anything, Shin speaks. "There is a battle that will soon take place on Planet Vegeta. The leader of the Saiyans has finally decided to revolt against Freeza, but with other factors now participating into this battle, it is officially a universal threat. Powers you could never imagine to exist will be taking part and if things go the way we believe they are, matters will not end well - regardless of who wins."

"What are you saying?" Gine asks, stepping up. "Who even are you?"

"I am one of the divine entities of the Universe," Shin explained. "I see and know all that goes on, with the aid of my Kai in training, Kibito. Know that the Legendary Super Saiyan is very real...but there is a level far beyond the Legendary Super Saiyan - a danger to the Universe. Two separate Saiyans hold this power and I've a feeling they will clash on Planet Vegeta with Freeza in the crossfire. This is something we don't want. Entire dimensions can be broken if they clash."

"Lord Zeno won't like that," Kibito commented.

"Oh, please don't bring that up," Shin practically begged. "We have enough to worry about."

"So then why come to us?" Gohan inquired. "We are nowhere near Boo's strength and if you say these people even remotely rival that, then what chance do we hold?"

"This doesn't revolve the entire lot of you," Kibito explained. "This revolves around you only...Gohan. With special training, we have hope that you may be able to help in saving the Universe."

Gohan scoffs. "I wasn't even capable of saving my own home. How do you expect me to partake in saving the Universe? What a load of bullshit." Turning around with his arms crossed his arms. "Isn't my father headed back there? Let him take care of it."

"Uh, you better go!" Gine yelled.

Everyone paused and looked over to the woman. Her, who appeared to be nice and pure this entire time, seemed to take the role of a worried parent and wife. "If Bardock and Kakarot are going to be in the mix, you will do your father and grandfather a kind service to help them both! Letting them down will let me down...and the entire universe. I imagine Shin won't be taking no for an answer, and neither will I."

Under any other circumstance, Chi-Chi would be defending Gohan right now, but she didn't. This was Kakarot's mother. It wasn't because of the fact that Gine was his grandmother but because she was right. Kakarot did horrible things, yes, but he also saved their world. If he was going to be caught up in the mix, then he needed to be saved too, as well as Bardock.

"Gohan, trust us," Shin pleaded. "This is bigger than you."

Why does this all have to be about him right now? He wished he could just stay home and be in bed all day! It's enough to have to drag his ass out and train in worries that his father will come back with even more hostile motives, but it's another thing to be carried about by divine intervention and to be trained by them with the unprecedented duty of saving the Universe!

All eyes were on Gohan's back. The young man didn't say much as he continued to look down. If all he had to do was this one thing, then so be it. He would go through with it and deal with his own personal funk later. Besides, he was never a person to go and not help those who needed it. When innocent lives were in the balance, he just wished he could stay home.

Gohan looked over his shoulder, letting out a sigh. "Fine," he acquiesced. "Let's get this over with."
