In the Cyber Dimension, Blaze, Roxy and Megan were standing, watching as Vargoyle got his upgrade device refuelled after his battle with the Rangers. While they weren't exactly laughing at him, the most unempathetic person in the world could see right through their glee at him being sent running even after the upgrade.

"Wow, that was quite spectacular." Blaze said, struggling to keep from fully laughing at him, but his tear-stroked eyes gave away everything. "You have the power of all three of the original Rangers, and yet somehow you still get sent home without even taking one of them down, having burned up some Morph-X and with no real benefit whatsoever."

"If I was Master Evox, I'd be having some buyer's remorse right about now." Roxy continued the taunting. "So much for King Mondo's ultimate weapon."

"You know, if you did want, I'm sure I could retrieve the device…"

"Just try it!" Vargoyle warned Megan, pulling out his blaster. Evox blasted the ground around all of them, terrifying them all into silence.

"ENOUGH!" He called out. "But they do make a good point Vargoyle, I've invested a lot of power and trust in you. I'd hate to think that was misplaced."

"Yeah, we all would." Blaze said as the three avatars confronted him. "Say the word, master, and we'll correct…"

"I said SILENCE!" Evox warned him once more, before turning his attention to Vargoyle. "Well, explain yourself!"

"You see, Master Evox, the purpose of my trip wasn't to gain Morph-X. It was reconnaissance of sorts." Vargoyle told him. "I needed to determine the broadcasting power of the city's media networks, to find just the right one."

"To do what? Run your own cable access show?" Blaze asked him. Vargoyle looked to Scrozzle.

"Project Pneumonic." He told him. Scrozzle just looked to him as he finished fuelling up his upgrade.

"Project Pneumonic?" Megan asked. "What's that?"

"Years ago, King Mondo found a way to affect the memories of lesser biological beings. A way that the electrical impulses in their brains could be altered to create new, false memories."

"False memories?" Roxy asked him.

"They used it on one of the Rangers back in the day." Scrozzle informed them. "For a time, they convinced the Red Ranger he was actually the King of the Machine Empire."

He saw everyone staring at him, and knew they wanted more details about this, and more importantly why it was being brought up now.

"The project was designed as a way to deal with planets whose cost/benefit ratio was a little too slanted. There was no point in using a considerable amount of resources to destroy the population of a world if its natural resources were so minimal that we'd end up expending more in ammunition and repairs than we'd get back." Scrozzle continued. "The only problem was that we only ever got to use short-range uses. We couldn't affect more than one or two minds at a time."

"But, thanks to this wonderful age of humanity linking everything together for us, we just need a strong communications network, like the one at that news building, to be able to affect the entire city!" Vargoyle explained as he got up, looking out a device from Scrozzle's lab. He showed it to them. "And thanks to Morph-X, we'll be able to power it to pump out a signal that will affect every mind in the city."

"You want to defeat the Power Rangers with television?" Roxy chuckled. "Now I've heard everything…"

"No, I think…this could work." Megan said, cutting off Roxy and coming over, inspecting the device. "Yes, why should we fight the Rangers for Morph-X when we can convince them to just give it to us?"

"Exactly!" Scrozzle stated. Blaze and Roxy just looked to each other, stunned to see Megan now seeming to back Vargoyle.

"Once we activate the memory pulsator, you'll be able to access all the Morph-X you need." Vargoyle cackled. "And you'll only have to ask Grid Battleforce to hand it over."

"But for this to work, we need to hook this up to the broadcast tower…and it'll need to be fuelled up with a lot of Morph-X." Megan told him. "We'll help!"

"We will?" Blaze asked.

"Yes, we will!" Megan reiterated. "But I want to make some modifications. We'll need to fabricate some new memories for the Rangers and Grid Battleforce, something they'll believe. Meet me in the lab, I'll help."

As they all left Evox's chamber, Blaze grabbed Megan by the shoulder and spun her around.

"Hey, what are you doing?" Blaze asked her.

"Yeah, why are you helping him?" Roxy asked her. Megan just smirked.

"I'm helping him because it's a good plan, one that can get us what we want." She told them. "And if he's going to have to hook that Memory Pulsator up to the tower, then he'll have to be right in the middle of the battle zone."

"I like the way you think." Roxy complimented her. With that, they followed her as she went to the lab to sort out the details of what they wanted the Memory Pulsator to do.

Back in the real world, the Rangers met up at the Riptide Gym. They all still had the rest of the day to themselves, and now that they had missed their chance at meeting Nicky Reve, they figured they should just make the best of it.

Devon came back to the table with their latest round of drinks.

"I mean, I love her movies, but it kind of stinks that she just bailed on the interview like that." Ravi commented. "Can you imagine what would happen if we just decided we couldn't be bothered with our jobs?"

"I guess it's all part of being a celebrity." Devon said with a shrug of the shoulders. "You should see the way some of the big-wigs my dad has to schmooze with jerk everyone around. One time he was meant to meet a senator for lunch. It ended up being the back of nine before he showed up!"

"It's disappointing alright." Nate agreed, getting his juice and taking a sip. As he did so, he felt something touching his leg. He looked to the side, seeing Zoey with an innocent look on her face as she stirred her smoothie. He fumbled around, taking her hand in his own under the table.

"I think we all wanted today to turn out a little differently." Zoey mused, smiling as she felt Nate squeezing her hand.

"It must be nice." Ravi grumbled. "I wonder what would happen if we said 'Hey, I know it's the middle of a Gigadrone attack, but it's been a while since I've been to Florida, see ya!'?"

Just then, there was a bit of a commotion at the other side of the room.

"What do you suppose that's all about?" Steel asked as he was trying to see better. People started abandoning their workouts, leaving their booths, stepping off the sparring mats, some were even wandering out the bathroom still adjusting their belts and trousers! Everyone was swarming around someone who was quickly trapped in the corner. Devon stood up on his chair to get a better look.

"Guys, is that…Nicky Reve?" He asked. They all suddenly snapped up as they tried to get a good look. Zoey started to squeal as she saw her.

"It…it IS Nicky Reve!" Zoey confirmed. "What's she doing here?"

"Right now, it looks like she's getting mobbed." Nate pointed out. It was pretty natural to think that a celebrity would generate a lot of attention, especially just walking randomly into a local business. However, the more he watched, the more uncomfortable the scene appeared to be. There was a wig being passed around, and he figured that was probably how she had gotten into the gym without being noticed. People were pawing at her, grabbing at her.

"Guys, this looks…not good!" Ravi said, suddenly feeling guilty about his earlier comments about her. It was pretty clear from Nicky's face that she wasn't at all comfortable with the attention. In fact, she looked positively ill. She flailed around in a panic; her face looked completely distraught. She looked like she was trying to scream but was struggling to breathe.

"Guys, this doesn't feel right." Devon told them. "We've got to get her out of here!"

The Rangers left the booth and started to push their way through the crowd. It was tough going, some of the fans were willing to fight pretty dirty to get close to their idol. Most of them were scratched and bruised to hell by the time they got to Nicky. Ravi grabbed her.

"This way, Ms Reve." He told her, starting to shove his way towards a fire exit. She just shook her head, but he bundled her towards the nearest door regardless. He even had to use a little ounce or two of Gorilla Strength, but eventually they managed to get outside, where they all fled for all they were worth.

Back at the TV station, Muriel was pacing back and forth as Eddie started repairing the memory card. She was chewing her fingernails nervously. The assignments had already been given out for the day, and due to circumstances completely beyond her control, Muriel's had just cancelled, meaning that she wasn't going to be getting anything else. However, she had possibly stumbled on the single biggest story that anyone could ever get a hold of.

The real identities of Earth's latest super-heroes was still one of the biggest mysteries still to solve in the world. Grid Battleforce went to great lengths to ensure no one would divulge the identities of the Rangers. Even sources that normally could get inside information were too worried about the consequences if they leaked that. Stations all around the world were offering big money to anyone willing to give confirmed evidence of the Rangers' identities, but so far no one had claimed it. Muriel didn't care about any bounty though. She'd gladly break the story for free as long as she was the one to break it. Her career had been one kick in the teeth after another, but this was so close she could almost taste it.

"The good news is the data's not completely gone." Eddie told her. "The card's pretty damaged, and it'll take a lot of cleaning, but I definitely have a lot of data to work with. It should be enough for at least a few seconds of footage."

"That'll be all we need." Muriel responded. "How much longer?"

"I should have something we can work with in the next half hour." Eddie told her. Muriel just checked her watch.

"If I hurry, I can get a hold of the boss, get this on the schedule for the evening news." Muriel replied. "You keep on this; I'm going to book our time slot!"

Elsewhere in the city, the Rangers fled with their unexpected charge through the streets, finally managing to give their pursuers the slip. Devon cautiously looked out from the side alley, checking for any signs of any stragglers who might still be searching for them.

"Alright, it looks like the coast is clear." Devon breathed a sigh of relief. "I always did hate run-away sections of video games."

"Man, I thought I could be a crazy fan." Zoey commented.

"Guys!" Ravi called out, gesturing to Nicky. "She doesn't look so good."

"Here, let me look at her." Nate said, coming to her. Nicky just looked up to him. "It's fine, trust me."

He started inspecting her, and looked a little concerned.

"Her pulse is pretty quick." Nate commented.

"I'm not surprised, we were running for quite a while." Ravi replied.

"No, I mean, it's not settling." Nate told them.

"Water." Nicky said, interrupting them. Ravi went into his bag. Working out as often as he did, he was in the habit of always carrying some with him. Twisting off the cap, he offered it to Nicky. Zoey looked to her.

"She's shaking like a leaf." Zoey said sympathetically. "I think those fans really shook her up." Nicky shook her head.

"It's not all their fault." She told them, starting to take slow, deep breaths. Nate suddenly realised what was happening.

"You were like this before they chased you." He recalled. "You're having a panic attack, aren't you?"

She just nodded her head.

"I've had them since I was a kid." She told the Rangers. "It's social situations that are the worst. When I'm with one or two people I'm alright, but sometimes things just overwhelm me."

"But you're an actress." Devon pointed out.

"It was something one of my therapists suggested when I was young. I found I kind of liked it." She admitted. "I went out in disguise; I really just wanted some time to myself after I had an attack this morning…"

"You had another attack this morning?" Zoey asked, looking to the others. Now the other Rangers felt a little badly about some of the things they'd been saying about her. They'd all been disappointed, even angry about the fact Nicky had cancelled the interview, but now that they had seen how badly it affected her, they understood why she hadn't felt up to going to the studio.

"I was almost there, but I saw all those people outside the studio and…" She tailed off. "Normally my manager's pretty good at making sure things are alright, but this morning, there was a leak or something and…"

"It's alright, you're safe now." Devon assured her. "Where are you staying? We can get you back there safely…"

"That would be very kind, thank you." Nicky replied. "I really wish there was something I could do to repay you."

"Just get better in time to make Hydroworm 5." Zoey told her as they started to escort her carefully back towards her hotel.

In Grid Battleforce Headquarters, Commander Shaw headed into the cafeteria, heading for the counter. She smiled as she looked on the meals on offer.

"Meatloaf day, Commander." The cook told her. "I've got an end piece set aside just for you."

"You're too good to me Matthew." She replied, taking the plate from him. Just as she was about to go though, she could see that there were a lot of people gathered around the TV, and the news was showing an emergency bulletin. She furrowed her brows as she approached.

"Turn the sound up." She stated. One of the other operatives got the handset and turned up the volume.

"The protectors of our city have been making headlines for months now, but there's always been one question on everyone's mind. Who are these mysterious saviours of our city?" The anchor declared. "Well, thanks to some found footage, we at Channel 6 are going to give you those answers exclusively. Tune in tonight for this very special broadcast."

Commander Shaw turned around and went back to the counter, putting the plate down.

"Just a sandwich today, I'm afraid." She sighed. "It looks like a working dinner tonight."

Meanwhile, back at the television station, Muriel came into the tech room, finding Eddi with the memory card in his hand. She was practically bouncing with excitement.

"Eddie, they just announced it. We're getting the lead story on the evening news!" She gushed as she started to pace around excitedly. "They wanted to give it to Donald, but I told them, no, this is our story, we want to run point on it!"

Eddie just grunted a little.

"Should I go to make-up? No, maybe the whole embattled, straight in from the field look might be the way to go." She continued.

"Muriel…"

"This is it Eddie, this is our ticket to the big time, I just know it!" Muriel rushed out.

"MURIEL!" He said a little louder, getting her attention.

"What is it?" She asked him.

"Muriel, the footage…"

"Oh my God, please tell me that you got the footage!" Muriel said in panic. "Eddie, we've just promised the city the identities of the Power Rangers! We've just promised exclusive footage on LIVE TELEVISION! Please, tell me the footage…"

Eddie got up and headed to the other side of the room, locking the door, before looking back to her.

"Muriel, the footage is fine, but…maybe we shouldn't air it." He suggested. Muriel just looked stunned by his assertion.

"Not show it? Eddie, this is the scoop of the century! The millennium! It's the biggest thing since…since…"

"Muriel!" He said, trying to get her attention. "I think maybe you should watch the footage, then you'll understand."

He got a chair, sitting Muriel down in front of the monitor, before playing the footage. Muriel rolled her eyes, before she watched it. Here she was within moments of getting everything that she had dreamed of since the moment she wrote her first article for a non-profit student magazine.

The footage showed the attack in alarming detail. The people running, the screaming, Vargoyle then Muriel got to the bit that changed everything…nothing could have prepared her for what she saw.

All the colour drained from her face and her mouth hung open as she saw Zoey and her friends standing defiantly before Vargoyle, before their morphers appeared. Then, in a flash of light, they were gone, and the Rangers were standing in their place. Muriel had to rewind and watch another couple of times to confirm what she'd seen.

"You see the problem?" He asked her. "That one, that one right there, the Yellow Ranger…that's your kid!"

"No, it can't be!" She gasped. "No, my daughter, Zoey, she's…she works in laundry! She…"

"Muriel, I don't know what put the whammy on me, I can't remember a damn thing about this, but the camera doesn't lie!" Eddie told her. "Your kid was right there!"

"I don't believe this." Muriel stammered. "My daughter's a Power Ranger…"

"And you just promised the entire city that you're going to reveal their identities on the Evening News!" Eddie pointed out. "I just thought you should know so you can…you know…decide what to do."

Muriel took the memory card from the machine and looked to it, her hands trembling. Eddie put a hand on her shoulder.

"No one else has seen this footage. Whatever you decide to do, I'll back you on it." Eddie assured her. Muriel just stood, staring at the memory card, with the biggest decision she'd ever had to make.
