September 25
Sango and I had a girl's day out today and went to get our nails done. There's a nice little nail shop that we like to go to in the village. While we did that, Inuyasha and Miroku stayed behind to take care of the children. While we were out we got the most amazing manicures and pedicures and went to a tea shop for some delicious tea afterward.
"That was so nice," I said as we were heading back home.
"I agree," Sango said. "I love my husband, but it's nice to just have some girl time, you know?"
"Totally." It was so much fun to hang out with my best friend. I love my husband, of course, but nothing beats spending the afternoon having girl time.
We arrived at her house and found Miroku and Inuyasha sitting in the yard while the twins played.
"We're back," Sango announced.
"How was it?" Miroku asked as we sat next to them.
"It was amazing. Isn't this pretty?" I said, showing off my red nails. "What did you guys do while we were gone?"
"This for the most part," Inuyasha replied.
"Although we did get a note asking us to come perform an exorcism," Miroku said. "There's been a demon possessing people in a village not far from here and they've asked for our assistance."
"That sounds exciting," I said.
"Miroku and I will go," Inuyasha said. "You're staying home."
"But I always go with you," I said. "I don't see why I can't go this time."
Inuyasha just crossed his arms. "It'll be best if you stay home. Miroku and I can handle it on our own."
"I don't see why I can't go with you, Inuyasha. It's not any more dangerous than the other times we went."
"Kagome, you're not going!"
I didn't understand why Inuyasha was being so difficult about this all of a sudden. I turned to Miroku. "Don't you think I should go?"
"Her spiritual powers would be pretty useful on a mission like this, Inuyasha," Miroku said.
"Kagome can hold her own against a demon," Sango added. "What makes this any different?"
"How come you really don't want me to come?" I knew there was a bigger reason for this. I just had to get him to admit it.
Inuyasha looked away trying to hide his expression from me. "I'm just...I'm just worried about your safety, okay?"
I undressed his arms and held his hands. "Really, Inuyasha?"
"I guess the events from the last time we went on an exorcism really got to you Inuyasha?" Miroku said.
I hadn't realized that he was still so affected by that. "Is that true?"
"I've been afraid of something happening to you ever since then," Inuyasha said, more gently than before. "Especially after you went down the well and I thought you weren't going to come back. I don't want to lose you again…"
I cut him off as I pulled him into a tight hug. "I'm sorry I've made you worry so much, love. I'll stay here if it really makes you feel better."
As I looked into his eyes he seemed to be contemplating the whole thing. Finally, he sighed. "Alright, you can come."
I gave him another hug. "Thank you, Yasha."
"Don't worry, Inuyasha," Miroku said, putting a hand on Inuyasha's shoulder. "We'll keep Kagome safe."
