I looked him in the eyes as answered, "We will need as many heroes as possible to defeat Boreal, these dragon balls have given me the power I need to survive. So... what is your wish? If we use it to revive people the population will want too know what happened. But if it appears that you have gotten one last use of your power, we should be able to keep them a secret."
I looked down at my near skeletal hand, "Exactly how powerful are these wishes?" I asked as I looked at the green skinned alien.
"I used them to reshape my body into one that... isn't reflective of my father." He said, "But in the wrong hands, these items can give them the entire galaxy on a diamond platter." He looked me in the eye, "They can make a person a living God, unable to die, or age."
I sighed, "I have to think about it..." I stood up and walked to the window. "These... Dragon Balls... should I use them to revive the people, or use them to try and prevent their deaths in the first place. As a hero... that is a difficult thing to answer."
Harp closed the case, the locks clicks cutting the silence. "I'll let you think on it. When there are used they can't be activated or located for a years time. So you have to be sure you are making the right choice. The wrong one could mean that there is no world to save."
Chapter 103: Schoolwork
I sat at my desk next to wanting to tear my hair out, between school, the extra political lessons, talking and working with Hatsume and Momo to create a set of Saiyan court armor, and dance practice I was worn thin. The bell rang but as I stood up to leave Present Mic spoke up. "I'm sorry, but Fuma can I speak with you." He asked as he fixed the hair that made up a third of his height.
"I'll see you later." I said as Deku and the others left. I walked to the blonde teacher's desk. "So what is it?"
"Well, it's about your grades." He said as he pulled out several of my papers. "I've been noticing little things through the school year, while you aren't failing, it's the strange mistakes, and the awkward spacing of how you write, and when you read, you look really frustrated. Are you having issues with understanding the learning materials?"
"Well... it's not that I'm having issues the material... I don't really know how to explain it." I said as I looked at the papers. "It... is like... the words just sort of blur not click."
"I see." He said as he reached down into the desk, "Can you fill this out?" He offered me a sheet of paper.
"Um... sure." I took it and went to sit down and started to fill out the sheet, my head started to hurt more and more as it went further down, the words starting to blend together. Despite it only being double sided it took me half an hour to fill it out.
I placed the sheet in front of him. His usual cheery look turned into a grimace. "I need to get a second opinion." He folded the sheet of paper.
"Second opinion on what? What was that test for?" I asked as he walked by me.
He just smiled, "We as teachers do everything we can for our students, helping them with their weaknesses. I'll talk to you about this after your lessons with All Might, now go get lunch, yeah?"
I walked in the hall alone, the click of my shoes echoing as I followed the scent of food. "Fuma!" I turned to look at Nejire, the blue haired third year. "I haven't talked to you since the raid."
"Oh, yeah, I guess we haven't. I've just had so much to worry about." I looked up at the older student. I was much smaller in many regards, but then again I took after my mother, who was smaller then me. "Between the the class plan for the School festival, the Saiyans, school work..."I started to ramble on. "But what did you want to talk to me about?"
"Well I wanted to ask if you wanted to compete in the beauty contest, I think it would be a lot of fun." Her big curious eyes locking with my own.
"I'm sorry the what now?" I asked her.
"Every year UA has Beauty contest at the school festival. This'll be my third attempt at winning, but seeing as this festival will also be about you explaining your culture to the world I thought that you and Kalna could represent your people's fashion." She said.
"Kalna said yes didn't she?" I asked as I walked with her to the lunch line.
"Well, she did." She admitted.
"Well, maybe I'll do it next year. Right now I have too much as it is, I have to worry about two outfits already for the school festival. One for the dance and concert, and one for the Speech." We got our food and I went to sit with Deku, Iida, Uraraka and Shoto. "See you around Hado."
"Right." She waved as she went to sit with her classmates.
I settled into my seat. "So what was it that Present Mic wanted to talk to you about?" Iida asked me.
"It was about my grades, I'm not failing but he seemed concerned about something to do with my reading and writing. The... I difficulties have with it." I explained before digging into my food. After a few large bites I came up for air. "Said he'll get back to me after Hero lessons."
"Well, I've always found it odd how much you struggle with reading." Izuku said as he ran a hand through his hair. "I thought it had something to do with just not having grown up with the same languages."
"Do Saiyans have learning disabilities?" Shoto asked after he was done with his food.
"Learning disabilities?" I asked.
"They are mental conditions that affect how someone learns." Iida explained. "Well, that is a certain possibility. Don't worry, it'll just mean you'd have to find a way to learn that works for you. There isn't anything wrong with you if you do have one."
"Eh?" I just shook my head. "It doesn't matter to me, I'm still passing."
"That's the spirit!" Ochako smiled. We finished up our meals and headed back to class.
I took my seat and took out my phone, I had a few new texts from Miruko. 'Hey kid, school still going alright?'
'Yes, just a lot on my plate between the work study, class, the school festival.' I replied to the number five hero who had quickly become a mentor and almost older sister figure to me. We both were battle loving heroes.
'I understand that, say, I have been working on that ki stuff. It really is no joke kid.' she quickly replied. 'I can't fly around like you do, or blast people, but the strength increase, don't think you'll be over taking me out the gate now.'
'Please, I'm still intent on being your sidekick for a little while before going on my own.' I smiled as I sent the message. Out of all the heroes, the Bunny hero Miruko had the biggest impact on me, second only to Izuku.
'Sure thing, I'll see you at the School festival, I am not missing the chance to see you dance.'
'Very funny, I got class, ttyl.' I closed my phone as the door opened and the former number one hero walked in.
"All right, 1-A. I have something special planned for today. We still have yet to fully bring out the full potential of your quirks, or biology." He nodded towards me, Astero who was busy with a blueprint of some sort, and Kalna who cracked her knuckles. "The gap has only grown between many of you."
"Bones, that is a understatement." Kalna rocked back in her seat.
"Ahem, I wasn't finished. We aren't doing any battle simulations today, instead you are doing public relations. Part of a hero's job is media and marketing." All Might explained, "Merchandise, and the such. This class I want you to use your creativity. Being a Pro Hero is much like heading a business. Design something that you could market as part of your brand."
Iida handed out sketching paper, I picked up my pencil, tapping the point in the corner, before sketching out various armor designs before changing it to hoodies. 'I like hoodies.' I thought to myself as I went through the lines, the sensation of pencil on paper, rounding the shoulders, the layers of fabric. I sat in silence as I sketched it out.
The shoulder pads were smaller, just covering the tops of the shoulders, the rest of the design followed the body's form. I had done three designs, one with out a front pocket, sleeveless and one that was just really baggy.
I started to sketch out scouters, wrist guards, and really anything I could think of. It was a nice change from the constant pressure on my shoulders. I was lost in the assignment when All Might spoke up. "All right, please hand them in. I want each of you to explain your thought process."
We got in a line and each of us explained it to the former hero. I waited for my turn and when I stepped forward I handed him the sheet. "Clothing? Not a bad idea, one that many heroes use Fuma, but the design, I have to admit, instead of going for just the design on fabric, adding layers and different materials to it would allow it to stand out. Bracers, and scouters, all very Saiyan in nature and very much distinct to you, with only Astero being similar."
I nodded as I took the paper back and slid it my bag. We chatted for what remained of the class until the bell rang. As everyone made their way back to the dorms, Aizawa, Nezu and Present Mic walked in. "Fuma, can we have a moment?" The animal principle asked as I sat at a desk.
"I don't have a choice?" I asked, Aizawa simply shook his head. "Is this about the test Present Mic gave me?"
"Yes, we have had a suspicion for a while now. Fuma, to put it kindly, your brain isn't wired the same as a human's. It never was, but the way you described the difficulties with learning, it raised some questions among the staff." Nezu said.
"The test you took was a dyslexia test. It is a written language based disability. While it dose make things harder to live with, it is something that can be worked on." Aizawa explained.
I just nodded. "So... I just have to study harder?" I asked.
Nezu shook his head. "No, you have to study smarter, not harder. Right now you rely on the help of several of your classmates to help you study, but that reliance is going to place a wall in your way. You need to really start studying on your own more."
I just nodded. "I understand." 'Oh... shit.'
Hello there. I wanted to clear that aspect of her character up.
