Olivia made herself reach for the phone on the nightstand. She restricted her calls to only important contacts. The call was probably important. They didn't want their vacation in Vermont to end. Fitz turned the volume down on the tv.

"Hello?"

"Livvie. Amelia had an allergic reaction to something, and she's in the hospital."

"What?"

"The doctors are giving her an allergy test. She's fine now."

"What did she eat?"

"Peanut butter cookies with hot chocolate and marshmallows. She dropped the glass on the floor and grabbed her throat. She couldn't breathe. I called an ambulance."

"She's never had an allergic reaction to anything I cooked."

"Has she had any of those foods with you?"

"Yeah...not the marshmallows."

"Could she have a gelatin allergy?"

"I don't know. She likes fruit snacks. Though...she did say her mouth felt funny after eating the fruit snacks last weekend in Vermont. I didn't think it was an allergy."

"She's going to stay in the hospital overnight. The doctor says he will sign her discharge papers tomorrow afternoon. Do you know anything about her medical history?"

"No, I took her to an appointment. She has vitamins and meal supplement shakes. She has complained about the vitamins. How could I miss that? She has a gelatin allergy."

"Now you know she can't eat candy. She won't be having a happy Halloween."

"I'm leaving Vermont. Right now. I'll start packing."

"Livvie, you can stay in Vermont one more day. Changing your flight last minute will be a hassle. Amelia will be fine."

"I don't want her to be scared."

"She asked for you. I told her you will be back in DC tomorrow."

"Can she talk on the phone?"

"Not right now. The doctor is checking for allergies and she's hoarse."

"Okay, call me when you know something."

"I'll call you if anything changes."
