the store front burst open, crumbling, spewing dust and debris. and his dark shadow barreled through the choking dark mass and burst outward. and he charged towards the two of them.

She dropped low as debris sailed over her flowing golden head of hair, with eyes shining like obsidian speckled with dark splotches of crimson and a dead man's smile. Samantha barely touched 5 foot in height and making herself smaller was child's play.

The breed was now in a bull's charge, scowling, nostrils flaring bursting out of the all-consuming roar of a dust cloud from the collapsing storefront. It rolled, boiling like an angry thunder cloud. His kind, his type nothing more than a giant in height, standing nearly six foot six (198 centimeters tall) with broad massive shoulders and chest, easily weighing 300 pounds of pure muscle that stretched his borrowed clothing. Buttons bursting with each stride. Each step like a sledgehammer pounding the cobblestone street. His knuckles popped as he curled his fingers, his eyes glowed dark amber as he bared his large fangs. Breed for battle, intimidation and killing. He rushed forward.

Gen One… Kuroko whispered, the most powerful of his kind…..she watched, analyzed. The way his body moved, how he was put together, his strides, speed…. She could feel the heat radiating from him. Feel each step and breath leaving his lungs… seeing the pulsing glyphs just underneath his shirt. She'd read the reports of encounters during and after their kind came into the world. How their bodies were covered in glyphs that shined in various colors. Like tribal tattoos, shades telling of their moods. His were dark purple and black with golden specks pulsing with each stride.

The roar of a beast followed as he pulled back his right fist like an archer with a bow aiming at his target.

How quaint… He thought seeing the small form darting towards him. What is this?... little bunny, he smirked, laughed, drove his fist down.

The cobblestone cracked and exploded, jagged pieces flew, pieces rolled across and settled in Kuroko's feet like dice.

Hmph.... She shook her head, unfazed. She'd seen this before.

Miss me! Her voice sang out like soft melody, cherry flower petals drifting in the breeze, ending with a soft childlike giggle.

Kuroko tilted her head with a sigh and groaned.

He missed. The flat of his fist slammed against the hard surface. not against the softness of flesh. At the last moment she'd swerved, changing directions, and going between his legs. She tapped the back of his knee with the force of a hellion vampire. It hard enough to bring him down, painful enough to make him realize he'd fucked up. He overestimated himself and underestimated her.

His experience with normal vampires had not prepared him for this…not that he knew of the different classifications of vampire. And why should he…they died or ran away so easy.

A dull pain rushed from his bended knee through his thigh as he hit the ground with a heavy thud before he could move or spin around. he felt her small hand dig deep into the flesh of his sides and with a sudden jerk, he saw the tall redhead. grinning and waving then the sky and darkness.

She body slammed him with such ease. His ears rang loudly, blurring his vison and stunned his senses. He blinked, his eyes awash in a what the hell, with his fangs bared. He saw the upside world from between his legs.

She grabbed his wrists, breaking the bone and his world spun, going from black to white to black to crash.

A heavy thud… seeing the sky for a moment and the wall he'd hit collapsed on top of him. In the darkness, beneath the compressing weight of brick and concrete, he pushed, thrashed his way out from beneath the rubble. cursing and swearing as he rose. Blinding and chocking dust covered his eyes, filled his nose and mouth, consumed by a burning rage, he ripped off his borrowed shirt and roared. "What the fuck… Who the fuck are you?... he growled, his upper body swelled with each rage of breath, glyphs glowing and sparking just beneath a layer of the dust cloud.

He swung his hand out and grabbed a long twisted rebar sticking out of a chunk of concrete and held it up like a hammer. You're not a real vampire… Are you… Little bitch… His face twisted with ugly rage.

Samantha was already beginning her attack. As she would often say don't play with your food… But

I'm an attack bunny… She said with a grin, with fangs… You space freaking vampire. Now it's time sinking lower to the ground, smelling the dirt, dust, brick and rust of iron and him.

Something hinted, no something told her to move. something was coming from within the cloud of dust. She swerved. A large hunk burst from within the cloud of dirt and dust leaving a swirling path behind it.

Samantha changed directions. A huge rock missing her by inches. She coughed, whipping the dirt from her mouth, and sneered.

.And then there was pain mixed with a flash of light and dark. Then she hit something… Fphuuuuucckkkkkk…..slowly made its way up her throat, out her mouth….she groaned slowly lifting her head and trying to catch her breath. She hurt…and she knew she'd screwed up. Crappp…can't believe I ouch…tch…tatattatattat…..

She flown across the street colliding with the wall just to the right of Kuroko. Her ribs were busted, her arm broken, dangling in an unnatural. She heard him laugh.

She looked at Kuroko. She gave Samantha a half look and an added smirk. A bit annoyed but all too familiar with the attitude of the pint size vampire…Kuroko let out a long groan slowly shaking her head for affect.

He laughed, easily swing in the long rebar embedded in the chunk of concrete like a baseball bat.

He'd baited her to change direction and at the same time, rushed forward, swinging it like a bat. He shook his head, letting the crude bat lay across his shoulder.… Too bad little attack bunny… Looks like you're done… cocked his head, scratched his chin nonchalantly.

Oh please… You alien space fuck…" She said with such confidence as if she had no care in the world.

He could hear the crispy pop of her ribs mending. Of her neck until it cracked, taking a few steps, and thrust her arm out to the side and snapped her fingers as it straightens. That's all folks…she wiped her mouth and grinned.

If it was possible, his jaw would've hit the ground. not that it's not impossible. Samantha had the strength and attitude to do it. To rip his jaw from his skull and drop it on the ground before she stepped on it and crushed it.

He'd heard of vampire capable of healing very quickly. But didn't believe it. An old wives tale told by other vampires to scare others. To heal as if never hurt. Impossible, he scoffed. It took days for a breed to heal. And that required lots of nourishment. And he knew Vampires could also heal. But again, that took days. But to replace bone, muscle, and flesh. No…that wasn't possible…that was nothing more than fantasy. Yes, lose an arm or leg. but one had to retrieve the arm or leg and reattach it, sure. But to stand up from an injury, twist you neck, to just snap your arm out and walla it was healed…no…he shook his head. His heart was beating faster, his breath was short. How….was all he could whisper.. in books, manga and even a few movies. Losing arm and poof! A few seconds later a blob of flesh turned into an arm. But he didn't believe it. He couldn't believe it. Bones broke still needed setting. flesh, muscle regeneration. Required large amounts of food and time to heal… he'd inflicted many wounds like that, ripping arms and legs, even torsos, the vampires would retreat from battle.

But there she was, standing atop of the rubble, stepping down, brushing the dust from her body as if it never happens.

What are you? He asked as if he was really going to get an answer. He wiped his mouth, What kind of magic?

Speaking of magic.

She took a breath, going over the battle details. When she struck him, nothing happened. It felt as if something arose and pushed back with the same amount of force. When she clawed. Again, nothing happened. She could bring down a tree with just a few swipes of her nails…and yet…nothing. His skin was like armor. Not a scratch on it.

But she saw something as the fight went on. She saw something.

Samantha motioned her head. Kuroko looked over at the massive vampire. Breathing heavy, heat rising in waves, covering him with sweat, dust clung to every curve of his muscles. His glyphs radiating underneath. The filth that the clung to him slowly revealed lines crisscrossed him, forming slight impressions of symbols and archaic words.

He's spellbound… Kuroko spoke softly.

He was using spells to protect him from being discovered and injury.

Those are spells carved into his flesh.

Samantha snapped her palms together… Her fingers moving into different forms. she chanted.

An ancient language. With each breath, with each word held power, each word gathered and compressed and bound its will to her, and she commanded.

The breath of God.

Kuroko knew the speak and the spells. Ruiko Saten had learned and mastered it before leaving Academy city.

Occultatus Adducitis tenebris as lucen ignis...bring that which is hidden by dark into the light by fire.

She spoke musically her fingers marking symbols with each syllable… Moving faster and faster as they moved as she chanted. Each chant slowly getting louder and more powerful. Each one eating away the magic the covered him.

Small faint lines glowed and sizzled like fuses lit and ran across his flesh. The smell of sulfur and flesh festered and rose and hung around them. He screamed, raised his head up as if looking to the sky for help, bearing his fangs. Dark lines slipped across his flesh as his blood boiled running inside him, like fire worms digging just underneath his flesh, burned out the ancient symbols and text across his skin. He fell to his knees, with ragged heavy breath, sweat poured over him.

No wonder… Samantha nodded as she finished her chant. Angelic scriptThat must've been a long and painful process… All of that just to come here and die.

He growled, with each hard breath dust billowed across the ground. slowly rose from his knees, sweat falling like a river as his body retched, scarred black with dark reds of burns.

I will at least kill the redhead… He said spitting out the words, wiped his mouth cleared his throat and spat across the ground.

Huh?... Me?… Kuroko tapped her chest with her eyes widened confused, who?… She pointed over to the small vampire, she's the one…" She said. but she never finished.

He rushed forward, focused on Kuroko, Samantha charged, "you're going to owe me…" She sounded incredibly happy, her voice ringing with laughter. Kuroko's shoulders dropped, I will not owe you anything….i will stake you before you even show those fangs…she growled. Samantha blushed.

Nothing fancy… No faints or dodges. He would use his size.

Samantha charged low to met him head on. She'd go for his belly and the let momentum do the rest. She'd open him up, from crotch to sternum like a melon.

But he had other plans. Painful ones. But other plans none the less. He'd wait until he felt her nails catch his skin, throw a handful of crushed brick and concrete into her face, spin and continued forward. And kill the redhead.

Samantha met him low and head on. She looked up from underneath him as she drove her fingers into his inner thigh and dug deep. He swung his right arm, smashing her across the face.

A long swath of blood splattered, filling the air, and spilling across the ground, but he still rushed forward.

Shit! Samantha quickly spun around, coughing and gagging, ooohhhh! shitttt… as she tripped and rolled over. What!… What! the what the what the… She skipped and tumbled across the ground.

Kuroko! who the fuck did you pissed off? she yelled, and swore she heard Kuroko respond, pretty graceful….not

She wanted to laugh as Samantha skipped and skidded like a rock and she even smiled, casually slipping the bag of souvenirs behind her back, and clipped them to her belt.

She wasn't, nor would she panic. She was a level V teleporter. And had performed many dangerous missions. Other ESPERS, wolves and vampires and Darkside organizations. but this would be the first time it was a breed.

She could see the hints of why everyone in Japan hated them. They killed not for food but for pleasure. On that night so long ago, they came in the night and killed and killed. She read the stories. the wolves and vampires of Japan rose to meet the threat. Over and over normal vampires threw themselves against them. One became two, ten became twenty. It was the upper level ranks that came in to push them back. the military arrived later. Too much bureaucracy. But with vampires and wolves. it took one queen and just because we can attitude of the wolves. A few level fives joined in. Tens of thousands died to protect their island nation.

She slowly waited, took a breath, slowed her heartbeat. She pictured Honoka and her all-consuming smile and turned sideways to make herself look smaller. harder to attack. She watched him, eyes glowing with rage and that smirk on his face. Each step getting closer. The symbols burned over his massive frame, the glyphs pulsating like a heartbeat. The calculations were natural, without a thought or effort. he was getting closer, getting faster. Each footstep louder and closer than before. He would plow over her like a truck. That was his strategy. And she knew it.

He stretched out his right massive arm. It was thicker than most tree limbs, long and sturdy…. Closer… his fingers curling in anticipation. He came closer.

Kuroko Sharai waited, eyes cold, and emotionless. A certain vampire, now standing watching with her hand on her hip and her head cocked as she brushed the dirt from herself. Seeing the straight-line smile, sent heart racing. And without much effort, without much acknowledgment, Kuroko spun her back foot in a circular motion, shortening the distance between them. Her arms stretched out and two fingers pointed towards him.

To close this… she'd mess with his timing. Doesn't matter he yelled as he noticed as he laughed. And then in less than a heartbeat he was gone.
