Jaime came to see Tyrion in his cell.

"Well, this is a pleasant surprise," said Tyrion. "This is the first time you've visited me since you got back. I thought you hated me now too."

Jaime shook his head. "No. I know you'd never kill Cersei. The only reason I didn't come before now is because Father wouldn't let me. He told the guards not to let me in. But tonight, Varys drugged the guards. He's waiting upstairs. I'm gonna release you, and then he's gonna take you somewhere safe."

It sounded almost too good to be true. "And where is that?" Tyrion asked.

Jaime shrugged. "He didn't say."

Jaime unlocked the cell door with his left hand since his right one was gone. His tentacle kept flopping around. Tyrion watched with interest. "Was it the Griffins who did that to you?"

"No. That was Vargo Hoat and his so-called Brave Companions."

After Jaime let him out Tyrion went upstairs. Varys was waiting for him. "Why are you helping me like this?" Tyrion asked. "You testified against me."

"That was a ruse to make your father think I was on his side," said Varys.

"So, you're telling me you're on my side?"

"I never said that. Let's just say I have use for you."

"I guess you're about the only one who does," said Tyrion. "Where are we going?"

"I'll tell you once we're out of this castle," said Varys.

"Hold on," said Tyrion. "There's something I have to take care of first." He brushed past Varys and walked off down the hall.

He went up to his father's room. "This is stupid!" part of his brain was screaming. "You'll just get thrown right back in that cell!" But his feet kept carrying him closer and closer to his father's quarters. He didn't know whether he was gonna talk to Tywin, or fight with him, or what, but something compelled him to go up there.

When he got into the room Shae was lying in the bed! And she was naked! Except for Tywin's chain of office around her neck! She had been sleeping with Tyrion's dad!

Shae saw Tyrion. She got scared. She pulled the blankets up around her chin.

"Were you expecting someone taller?" Tyrion asked.

Big wet tears filled her eyes. "I never meant those things I said, they made me. Please. Your father frightens me so."

"My lady Shae," Tyrion said softly. "All the time I sat in the black cell waiting to die, I kept remembering how beautiful you were. In silk or roughspun or nothing at all…"

"M'lord will be back soon. You should go, or… did you come to take me away?"

"Did you ever like it?" He cupped her cheek, remembering all the times he had done this before. "Did you ever like my touch?"

"More than anythin'," she said, "my giant of Lannister."

That was the worst thing she could have said. Tyrion slid a hand under his father's chain and twisted. The links tightened, digging into her neck.

After she was dead, Tyrion looked around the room. There was a crossbow hanging on the wall. He heard a noise coming from the bathroom. Tywin must be in there. In a blind rage, Tyrion yanked the crossbow down off the wall and stomped inside.

He found his father sitting on the toilet with his pants down.

Tywin raised his eyes and saw the crossbow in his son's hand. "Guess I shouldn't have left that lying around."

"It looks like this is the end of you," said Tyrion. "Didn't someone in Jurassic Park get killed this way?"

"Tyrion… please. Don't kill your own father on the toilet! At least let me stand up and put my pants on…"

Whang!

The bolt slammed into him just above the groin.

"You fool," Tywin groaned as he died. "Now who will rein in Joffrey?"

Those words brought Tyrion crashing back to reality. Maybe he had made a mistake. But it was too late to fix it now.

Suddenly, he remembered that today was Father's Day.
